Cesar.
The room goes silent for a minute as I lean back into my chair and smirk at her. Irina is the only one who has a reaction that cannot be held back. She is filled with disappointment, anger, and the most biggest one of all, shock.
Way to give your mom a heart attack Casey.
"What are you saying?" Irina asks Casey, not able to hide her reaction.
Casey says, "I've thought about it and I—" but before she finishes her sentence, Irina says,
"Um, Caesar, I'm sorry, could you give us a moment alone, please? And please don't heed what she said. She's taking the job."
I turn back towards Casey and smile even harder. I can see her from the corner of my eye, clenching her jaw, her hands tightening into fists on her lap. She doesn't like this. She doesn't like being told what to do, and that only makes this more entertaining for me.
"Of course," I say smoothly, standing up. "Take all the time you need."
As I push my chair back and step away, I catch Casey's glare—sharp, defiant. She wants to fight this.
I chuckle under my breath as I walk away. Things don't seem to be going Casey's way, because even though she doesn't want to work with me, it seems like her mom is convinced she will. And so far, Casey is not getting away from me. She is coming with me to Blackwood whether she wants to or not.
I walk upstairs and go into my room, but since my room is the closest one to the stairs, I know that in order for Casey to get to her room, she'll have to pass by mine. So I wait patiently for her to come upstairs. I know she has to come to her room and change.
As I stand there, my back against the wall, answering emails and checking on everything, I suddenly hear her footsteps. By the way, she's stomping on the floor, it looks like somebody is not happy with Mama's talk.
As soon as she gets closer, I dash out, take her hand, and pull her inside my room. I close the door behind her as I push her softly against it. The action takes the breath out of her. She is still in shock, confused at how fast she got here. She is pinned in front of me, and I just stand there, looking at the way her eyes suddenly brighten, at how she lost her breath when I pushed her against the door, and how she tries to take control of the situation once she understands what is going on here.
Her eyes turn from shock to anger, and I love the fire in her eyes as she does.
She raises her hand. I think she's about to slap me. I catch her hand mid-air. She tries using the other hand and I hold both of them together in one of my hands as I pull them and pin them on top of her head. And then I just watch her scream as she tries to kick me. But then I pin her flush against the door as I use my body to keep her in place so she can't move. She's practically furious right now, almost like she's about to burst.
"What the hell are you doing?" she shouts at me.
"I could ask the same question. What the hell do you think you're doing, Casey?"
"Let go of me," she demands, still trying to push me away from her, still trying to get away from my hold.
"I'm sorry, I can't do that," I say with a smirk.
"You're a stupid, selfish, ignorant—" But before she finishes whatever it was she was about to say, and I can see that she has a lot to say, I kiss her.
I wasn't planning to, but I couldn't stop myself. She just looked so beautiful and hot like that, and her lips were just begging me to kiss them, so I did. At first, I kissed her eagerly because I wasn't expecting this, and I just had to have her. I kissed her hungrily, but then I wanted it to last, and I wanted to taste every single part of her. As I slowed the kiss, deepening it sensually, she opened. She let me in.
Just as I'm about to deepen the kiss, I suddenly feel the pain in my lip. And I can't mistake the smell or the taste of blood on my lip. The pain comes as a shock, and I find myself letting her go as I take a step away from her. My hand instantly goes towards my lip and then watch as it comes away with blood.
She just bit me and judging by the blood and the pain, it wasn't small or in a sexy way either.
I look back toward her and find her in full fight mode. She glares at me as she says,
"Stay the fuck away from me." Her voice is sharp, filled with a fury that I haven't seen in her before. "Stay the fuck away from me," she repeats her voice like a lash.
And then, without another word, she opens the door and practically runs out of the room while I stand there, smirking after her. It seems that this Casey Moon isn't the same Casey from five years ago. Though, I have to admit, there are some similarities.
She wasn't afraid to go for what she wanted back then. No, she was not. But this time, it wasn't to get close to me. She was fighting to get away from me.
I don't know how that should have made me feel.
I lift my fingers to my lip again, wincing at the sting. I have an injury now, one I definitely don't want Irina or Leonard to see, or else they'll start questioning me about it. So, without lingering on the moment, I get dressed and decide to leave.
I don't say goodbye to anyone or tell anyone I'm leaving. I just take my things and leave the house. The car is already waiting for me outside. I get down, get into the car, and head straight to the airport.
My father calls me later.
"Hey, where are you? I went to look for you in your room and I couldn't see you. We're about to leave. Where are you?"
"I left."
Silence.
And then, "What do you mean you left?"
"I got a call at the office. There's an emergency. I had to be there personally to fix it, so I had to go. I'm already on my way to the airport."
"What do you mean? I thought we agreed that we were going to spend the day together." He practically shouts at me.
"I was already there since last night. We had dinner together. I slept there. We had breakfast together. I think that's enough time to spend with you... I mean, you never gave me the time of day in the past, did you? The only meals I can actually remember that we ever had were at parties or when you had business meetings that needed you to go with Your family. And when it was just me, you, and Ma, just having a nice family meal, were you ever there, Dad? So, stop complaining. I gave you two meals. I think that is more than enough."
I hang up the phone on him before he says anything. I know I shouldn't have said it. I'm supposed to be lenient, and easy until he lets his guard down, but I hate the man. Sometimes my hate just slips. After all, there's no lie in what I told him, so he can just deal with it.
Five minutes later, we're already at the airport. I get inside the jet, and we're off back home.
Casey, I think to myself.
I can't wait for you to come and work at Blackwood. I have a lot planned for you. She's changed. My Casey has changed. And I can't wait to crack that shell that she has built all around her.
Though, I wonder now why she's so mad at me.
I remember that night. The sex part more than anything... judge me all you want but that night was amazing. It was.....what do girls say? Magical?
The first time we kissed that night, I nearly did a stupid thing. I wanted to ask her out and take her to dinner. I don't know what I was thinking at the moment but I didn't want her or our time together to be meaningless.
But then she was so daring, so confident. And she got on my lap. And I had the best sex of my entire life. I did more than I ever did for any girl. Ever, back then.
