Synopsis
Several centuries ago, this world underwent a phenomenon that blessed humans with a supernatural power called an Aspect. As time passed, heroes began to arise as their power, achievements and courage for placing their lives on the line to save the innocent inspired many as those with an Aspect dreamed of becoming a symbol of peace for our world. I, Rai Shinsei, was one of them as I would hear many stories of heroes from the townsfolk, although, the source of my inspiration was from my two loving parents, who were idolized by the townsfolk as their strength and kindness left me captivated, but despite my dreams, fate had a different future in store for me as tragedy soon occurred, changing my life forever. On my sixth birthday, I witnessed a catastrophe. My once tranquil hometown, which housed kindhearted souls was ravaged by none other than a hero, whose destruction knew no bounds as any structure within his sight was obliterated while every being within my hometown was mercilessly slaughtered. The screams and cries of those I once knew left me in a trepidatious state, but my nightmare was far from over as the remaining survivors was none other than my parents, who were forced to say their goodbyes as the hero killed them right before my eyes, sparing only me and on that day, I was never interested in becoming a hero anymore. Selling my soul to vengeance, I made a vow. To destroy the Hero Association. Although, everything changed once I was forced to enroll into a place I would have never imagined. A Hero Academy.

Chapter 1 - Prologue

In this world, there are five continents ruled by their respective leaders.

Jiyu, Heiwa, Anaki, Yvelia and Owari.

Several centuries ago, this world underwent a phenomenon that blessed humans with a supernatural power called an Aspect.

As time passed, the year is now X774, where nearly twenty percent of humans were born with the blessing of an Aspect while the rest of the population remained powerless.

The continent I reside in is none other than Jiyu, a continent separated into three main realms consisting of Peasants, Commoners and Nobles.

Within the Commoner Realm resides the Hero Association, an authoritative figure in society that houses heroes, who use their power to protect the peace from villains, who use their power for the sole purpose of creating chaos.

Heroes are glorified by many as they are admired and idealized for their power, achievements and courage for placing their lives on the line to save the innocent.

Among the five continents, Jiyu has the least amount of Aspectors, which is why our society reveres heroes as if they're gods, but despite what society may believe, I refuse to accept them.

Heroes are far from pure as their insatiable hunger for power leads them to corruption, causing them to become beings who can't even be considered human anymore.

With their skewed perception of evil, they capture and kill anyone who disagrees with their injustice, despite the consequences as they are backed by the Hero Association, which is considered to be the highest authority in Jiyu with the exception of the Ten Noble Leaders and the King and Queen themselves.

They are nothing but obedient dogs that obey orders from those above themselves and as long as they stay in line, they are allowed to keep their status in society.

Society believes in the delusion that heroes care for them when in reality, they only care for themselves as those without Aspects are treated as if they never existed and are ultimately discarded.

To make matters even more sickening, through inhumane and unfair discrimination, you were casted aside if your status was anything lower than a noble, slowly fading away into obscurity as the world mocks you for your existence.

I'm a peasant who grew up on the humble outskirts of Jiyu with a loving mother and father, who would ask me a certain question occasionally as I used to dream of becoming a hero.

"Rai, what do you believe the essence of being a hero is?"

Even as of now, I'm still unable to answer their question because after that fateful day, I was never interested in becoming a hero anymore.

The very thing I once dreamed of becoming killed my parents right before me and in that moment, I sold my soul to vengeance and made a vow.

To destroy the Hero Association at any cost.

Although everything changed when I was forced to enroll into the one place I refused to attend.

A Hero Academy.
