Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: The Beautiful Woman

Who gets to be closest to the boss? The bodyguard, of course!

If John Knight could become Sophia Turner's bodyguard—preferably her personal bodyguard—it would create the perfect opportunity to get close to the stunning beauty.

Although he wasn't exactly the kind of man who could make flowers wilt or birds drop from the sky, with a little grooming, he could certainly pass for handsome—a dashing young man, the classic "pretty boy" type. If he played his cards right, over time, there was no reason why a woman like Sophia wouldn't fall for him.

As for how he found out about Heavenly Enterprises hiring bodyguards? That wasn't a coincidence. He had learned the information from a junior employee at Heavenly Enterprises in exchange for a lavish dinner and a pack of premium Chinese cigarettes.

Diana Moore nodded as she assessed John, thinking his appearance suited the role of a bodyguard quite well. After all, bodyguards frequently accompanied company executives to high-end venues, and John's polished look certainly wouldn't make the company lose face.

"Alright, John Knight," Diana said, taking out a form to start filling it in. "You're applying for the bodyguard position. You should be familiar with the process. Can I ask your age, educational background, and which special forces you served in?"

"23 years old. High school education. No experience in the special forces," John replied honestly.

"What?" Diana raised an eyebrow, looking him over again. "You're only a high school graduate? And not from a special forces background? Then which martial arts school did you train under? Who's your master?"

"No school, no master," John replied nonchalantly.

Diana laughed, her tone dripping with skepticism. "Kid, you're neither a former special ops soldier nor the disciple of some great martial arts master. Why should we believe you could handle the bodyguard role at our company? The bodyguards at Heavenly Enterprises are either retired special forces or trained at elite martial arts schools, like those in Japan or Brazil. I just don't see it with you…"

As she spoke, Diana shook her head. Though John had some kind of presence about him, his credentials were seriously lacking.

"Manager Moore, don't you think your view might be a bit narrow?" John asked, a playful smile curling on his lips. "Are you saying someone who isn't a former soldier or a disciple of a martial arts master can't be a bodyguard? Please, take a look!"

John gave a slight motion, and Diana stared at him, puzzled. "What do you want me to look at?"

John smiled faintly and, with a subtle movement, reached out to reveal a delicate hairpin in his hand.

"Ah?" Diana gasped in surprise, instinctively reaching up to her hair, only to find that the hairpin she'd been wearing had mysteriously vanished.

Diana was momentarily stunned. She stared at John, realization slowly dawning on her.

John Knight had been enhanced by Hades, and his abilities had multiplied tenfold, including his speed and strength. Using martial arts that emphasized speed, it wasn't difficult for him to snatch the hairpin from her head without her noticing.

"The hairpin's beautiful," John said with a grin, returning it to Diana. Still shaken, she looked at him in awe.

"I'm sure you've noticed my skills by now," John continued smoothly. "I'm probably more capable than any bodyguard in your company. I came prepared. Given my abilities, I'm more than qualified to be Mr. Turner's personal bodyguard. If not Mr. Turner, then Ms. Sophia Turner's. If you can't offer me either of these positions, then you can pretend I was never here. But I'd prefer to guard Mr. Turner if possible."

Diana hesitated, caught off guard.

Mr. Turner, of course, was Charles Turner, the CEO of Heavenly Enterprises.

The decision of who becomes Mr. Turner's bodyguard was far beyond her authority as the HR manager.

At this moment, she didn't take into account the force of John's presence.

If it had been anyone else saying such arrogant things, Diana would have likely had them thrown out immediately. But this young man gave off a certain aura, one that was deep and unreadable. His ability to sneak the hairpin from her head without her noticing had left a powerful impression on her. Her intuition told her that getting rid of him would be a mistake, and as any woman knows, intuition is often a powerful guide.

So, Diana decided to ignore John's boldness and continued with the interview, still unsure whether to dismiss him or not.

Who gets to be closest to the boss? The bodyguard, of course!

If John Knight could secure a position as Sophia Turner's personal bodyguard at Heavenly Enterprises, it would create the perfect opportunity to get closer to this stunning woman.

Even if he wasn't the type to make flowers wilt or fish leap from the water, with the right grooming, he could pass for a handsome, well-dressed man—every inch the dashing, charming figure. A little patience, some effort, and he was confident that Sophia wouldn't be able to resist his advances.

As for how he knew Heavenly Enterprises was hiring bodyguards… that wasn't an accident. He had earned the intel through a lavish dinner and a pack of high-end Chinese cigarettes, exchanged with a junior employee at Heavenly Enterprises.

Diana Moore nodded, deciding that John's appearance was suitable for the role. After all, bodyguards often accompanied top executives to exclusive venues, and with his polished look, he wouldn't make the company lose face.

"Alright, John Knight," she said, pulling out a form to jot down his basic details. "You're applying for the bodyguard position. I assume you're familiar with the process. Can I get your age, educational background, and which special forces you served in?"

"23 years old. High school education. No special forces background," John replied honestly.

"What?" Diana's eyebrows shot up as she took another look at him. "You're only a high school graduate? And no special forces experience? Then which martial arts school did you train at? Who's your master?"

"No school, no master," John said nonchalantly.

Diana let out a small laugh, her tone dripping with skepticism. "Kid, you're neither a former special ops soldier nor the disciple of some famous martial arts master. Why should we believe you can handle the position of a bodyguard at our company? The bodyguards here are either retired special forces or trained at elite schools, like those in Japan or Brazil. I just don't see it with you..."

As she spoke, Diana shook her head. The young man certainly had an air about him, but his qualifications didn't match the job.

"Manager Moore, don't you think that's a little narrow-minded?" John asked, a playful smile tugging at his lips. "Are you saying that someone who's not a former soldier or a disciple of a grandmaster can't be a bodyguard? Please, just watch!"

With a subtle movement, John reached out and revealed a delicate hairpin in his hand.

"Ah?" Diana gasped in surprise, quickly feeling for the hairpin in her own hair. To her shock, it was gone.

John's abilities, enhanced by Hades, had made his speed and strength ten times greater, and his martial arts skills focused on speed. With his current prowess, taking the hairpin without her noticing was an easy feat.

"That's a lovely hairpin," John remarked with a smile, returning it to her. Diana, still stunned, could only gape at him in disbelief.

"I think you can see my abilities now," John said smoothly. "I'm certain I'm as capable as any bodyguard in your company. I came here prepared. With my skills, I'm more than qualified to be Mr. Turner's personal bodyguard. If that's not an option, I'll gladly take on Ms. Turner. If you can't offer me either of these roles, you can pretend I was never here. But I'm hoping to guard Mr. Turner."

Diana hesitated, caught between admiration and disbelief.

Mr. Turner was, of course, Charles Turner, the CEO of Heavenly Enterprises. The decision of who became his bodyguard was far beyond Diana's authority.

But she wasn't considering John's boldness or audacity—her instincts told her this man was different. If anyone else had spoken so arrogantly, Diana would have shown them the door without hesitation, but John gave off an air of mystery that made her hesitate. Her intuition told her kicking him out would be a mistake, and as any woman knows, intuition is often a powerful guide.

So, despite her hesitation, Diana ignored John's arrogance and continued the discussion.

Diana Moore led John up to the 24th floor of Heavenly Enterprises, a place known to all within the company as being completely dedicated to one person: Sophia Turner.

Arriving at a door, Diana knocked lightly. A clear, sweet voice responded, "Come in."

John immediately recognized the voice. It was the voice of someone who could be nothing less than a stunning beauty. The sound of it was enough to tell him that its owner must be extraordinarily attractive.

Inside the room, two people were present: a man in his fifties with a common face, his back slightly hunched, standing like a statue in the corner of the room, easily overlooked.

The other figure, seated on the sofa, was a young woman facing away from him, casually eating snacks while watching TV. Her long, slender legs swayed gently as she relaxed.

Even from her side profile, John could feel his heart race. This girl—she could only have come from heaven.

"Ms. Turner…" Diana began.

"Call me 'the beauty who slays all men and is the epitome of the perfect, sexy girl!'" Sophia Turner interrupted, cutting Diana off mid-sentence.

"Ah? The beauty... who slays all men... and is the epitome... of the perfect, sexy girl..." Diana struggled to spit out the absurd title, sweating profusely from the effort.

John Knight fought to stifle his laughter. Was this really Sophia Turner, the legend of Coastal City's Three Beauties? She seemed like just a young girl! Her image was nothing like the one he had heard about.

The Sophia Turner he had imagined was a business genius, known for doubling the company's assets within just two years. Could this be the same person?

"Mm!" Sophia Turner responded distractedly, her eyes still glued to the TV screen. She didn't even look at John. "What is it?"

Diana hesitated. "This is John Knight, here to apply for the bodyguard position. What do you think?"

"No, no! Take him away! The bodyguard hiring was my father's idea, not mine!" Sophia Turner interrupted impatiently before Diana could finish.

At that moment, John finally got a good look at Sophia Turner. Her face was absolutely flawless—like something carved by a master sculptor, more delicate than a Barbie doll. It was no wonder she was considered one of Coastal City's Three Beauties.

Diana glanced at John, clearly unsure of what to do.

John smiled slightly and suddenly raised his voice, "Honestly, I had some doubts before, but now I'm certain—Ms. Turner really does need a bodyguard. And not just any bodyguard—one who is urgently needed."

Sophia Turner, who hadn't looked at him until then, finally shifted her attention to John. She, too, felt that this man seemed… different.

"What did you say?" she asked, her curiosity piqued.

John grinned, "An exceptional bodyguard doesn't just ensure their client's safety, they also take responsibility for their well-being. Take your current bodyguard, for example—he's not doing his job. How can you be eating junk food like this and not have someone stop you? These puffed snacks are nothing but empty calories, bad for your health. Worst of all, they can even affect your... chest development."

Sophia Turner's face flushed with embarrassment. The fleeting good impression she'd started to form of John vanished in an instant, and she snapped, "What did you say? You... you dare say my chest is small?!"

In fact, Sophia Turner's breasts are not too small, but she doesn't seem to be very confident about them.

John Knight laughed and said, "I didn't say that. That's just what you think."

"How do you know what I'm thinking? Do you think you can read my mind?"

John Knight could, of course, read her mind. Otherwise, how could he know something so absolutely private? But such a huge secret must never be revealed.

John Knight said, "If you don't think you have a small bust, why did you push out your breasts a bit when you first saw me just now? Women who push out their breasts in front of men are usually those who lack confidence in their breasts."

"You..." Sophia Turner was at a loss for words. What John Knight said was true. When Sophia Turner first saw John Knight just now, she did inadvertently push out her breasts a bit.

Diana Moore covered her mouth and tried hard not to laugh out loud. She was a woman and could sometimes come into contact with some high-level matters. She knew something about some things. What Sophia Turner cared most about was that her breasts were not as good as others'.

She had a cousin who was only sixteen years old, but her breasts were a whole size bigger than Sophia Turner's. This made Sophia Turner feel very inferior, and she secretly did breast-enlarging yoga whenever she had the chance.

But what surprised her the most was still John Knight. Was this guy here for an interview? Before it was even decided whether to hire him or not, he had already had an argument with his employer. What kind of bodyguard was this? This was more like a demanding master!

What Diana Moore didn't know was that this was exactly John Knight's strategy.

Given Sophia Turner's status and position, John Knight was sure that no one had ever dared, and no one would ever dare, to speak to her so rudely. Everyone who wanted to pursue her must be respectful and obsequious in front of her. And he deliberately wanted to do the opposite.

In this way, although it wouldn't make her fall for him at once, it was enough to leave a deep impression on her.

John Knight had never expected to catch up with this lofty beautiful girl so quickly. If you want to win the heart of a beauty, the most important thing is to leave an impression in her heart first. It doesn't matter whether it's a good impression or a bad one; just leave an impression first. For the beauty you have a crush on, the most terrifying thing is not that she has a bad impression of you, but that she has no impression of you at all.

Sophia Turner's face turned red with anger.

This man... This man is simply abominable!

How dare he mock that I have a small bust to my face? If I don't teach you a lesson, you won't know the power of this super charming beautiful girl who can enchant everyone and defeat handsome men!

With a twinkle in her eye, an idea popped into her head.

Sophia Turner suddenly smiled and said, "Since you're here to apply for the job of a bodyguard, I assume you must be quite good at fighting?"

"Not bad!"

"All right," Sophia Turner pointed at the old man who had been standing aside all the time. "If you can beat Uncle John, I'll hire you as my bodyguard. But I'm warning you, Uncle John is very powerful. If you get beaten so badly that you can't get out of bed, don't blame me for not warning you."

Diana Moore's face changed a bit. Although she had never seen Uncle John in action, she knew that Uncle John had been Charles Turner's bodyguard for twenty years. Could he do this job without some real skills? This young man was so young. I'm afraid...

She was just about to kindly remind John Knight to refuse, but unexpectedly John Knight said, "Do you mean what you say?"

Sophia Turner quickly said, "Of course I do. Hurry up and fight!"

Seeing that John Knight had agreed, Sophia Turner felt a sense of accomplishment as if her plot had succeeded. In her impression, Uncle John rarely took action, but every time he did, he had never been defeated. She was really eager to see how Uncle John would teach this arrogant and rude guy a lesson.

John Knight nodded and walked unhurriedly in front of Uncle John. "Miss Turner said that if I defeat you, she'll hire me as her bodyguard."

"I heard that... ah!"

Before Uncle John could finish his sentence, he let out a scream and fell to the ground. His face turned purple, and his hands were still tightly clutching his groin. This brat, doesn't he know how to respect the old and care for the young!
