Chapter 17 - Chapter Seventeen

Lisa had been enjoying a peaceful afternoon at one of her favorite cafes when a stranger approached her table with a confident yet charming smile. School has resumed and she divided to treat herself out.

"Excuse me, but aren't you Lisa?"

She looked up from her iced coffee, surprised. "Yes… Do I know you?"

He chuckled and extended his hand. "BK. A friend of a friend, I guess you could say. I've seen you around campus a few times, and I just had to introduce myself."

Lisa hesitated for a second before shaking his hand. There was something familiar about him, but she couldn't place it. He was good looking, well-dressed, and had an air of confidence.

They ended up chatting for a while, BK skillfully steering the conversation in a way that made her feel at ease. He was charming, funny, and well-traveled, with a smooth way of speaking that made Lisa lower her guard. By the end of their meeting, they had exchanged numbers, and before she knew it, she had a new friend.

Lisa told her ftuends about her new found friendship with Bk and how her boyfriend is not happy about

Angela: but friend he us your guy and maybe he has a good reason for you not to hangout with that guys, we dont even know much about him.

Anna: Jah and you said he looked familiar do have you remembered where you met him before?

Lisa: No haven't thought much about that and besides he Pedro has readonly than I would like e to hear the.

Angela: don't say you were not warned Lisa,, anyway bye gotta go.

Okay bye

At first, Pedro didn't notice much, but then Lisa started mentioning BK in passing.

"BK told me about this new Italian place. We should try it."

"BK says there's this crazy art exhibit happening next week."

Pedro's blood boiled. He knew exactly who BK was—Charles Mvula's son, the very man who had declared war on his family. The day they went out when Lisa said she felt someone following them he had his team look into it and it turned out to be BK so him befriending Lisa made Pedro realise he is here with an agenda. And is not going to sit around and watch him ruined his relationship.

Pedro

My father and Bk's father were best friends which landed on me and Bk becoming friends too I saw him as a brother until he betrayed me by sleeping with my girlfriend and I cut all ties with him when we later found out that his father was screetly plotting to take out my father out of business that's when all hell broke with Bk finally showing his true colour's. So I decided to warn Lisa about him hopefully she will listen.

"Lisa, listen to me," Pedro said one evening as they sat in his car. "BK is not your friend. He's using you to get to me."

Lisa frowned, pulling her hand away. "You don't get to decide who I'm friends with, Pedro. He's been nothing but nice to me."

"Lisa, you don't understand—"

"No, you don't understand!" she snapped. "You're being controlling, and I won't let you dictate who I spend time with. Maybe if you were more open about your life, I wouldn't have to hear things from other people."

Pedro clenched his jaw. He wanted to tell her everything, to lay out the danger she was unknowingly walking into. But he knew if he pushed too hard, she'd shut him out completely. So, he let it go… for now.

You know what okay have it your way Lisa looks like your friendship with this Bk guy is more important than what I think.

Lisa: you know that's not true Pedro

Pedro: do I? Listen I have to go I'm meeting up with my father and brothers for lunch. He say and hang up irritated without giving her a chance yo reply.

Lisa looked at her phone screen in shock with a pent of pain they had never argued before and she feels bad now that it's her fault they are arguing and it hurt.

The next day

Lisa sat in the library, flipping through her notes when her phone buzzed. She glanced at the screen and hoping it would be Pedro and sigh when she sees It was BK.

BK: Hey, beautiful. Busy?

Lisa: Just studying. You?

BK: Thinking about you. Let's grab a coffee later?

Lisa hesitated. She knew Pedro wouldn't approve, but BK had been nothing but kind to her. And after everything that happened with Pedro constantly trying to warn her, she didn't want to admit that BK's curiosity about Pedro's family made her slightly uneasy.

Lisa: Sure, after my class.

Later that evening, they met at a small café off campus. BK greeted her with his usual charm, pulling out a chair for her.

"You know, Lisa," he started after taking a sip of his coffee, "I still don't get why Pedro doesn't like me. I mean, I've done nothing to him."

Lisa sighed. "He thinks you have some hidden agenda."

BK chuckled. "What kind of agenda could I possibly have? I just enjoy your company. Unless Pedro is worried I'll steal you away." He smirked.

Lisa rolled her eyes. "He trusts me, BK."

"Then why did he make such a big deal about us being friends?" BK leaned forward. "It's almost like he's hiding something."

Lisa frowned. "Pedro isn't hiding anything."

BK studied her for a moment before letting out a soft chuckle. "Relax, Lisa. I was joking." But his expression told a different story.

Meanwhile, later that evening Pedro sat in his car outside Lisa's house, gripping the steering wheel. His mind was spinning. His tech guys had confirmed BK was in touch with Charles Mvula, and that alone was a red flag. He needed to find a way to protect Lisa without pushing her away.

His phone buzzed.

Pedro's brother, Leo: Did you tell her yet?

Pedro: No. She won't listen. She thinks I'm controlling her.

Leo: You need to act fast. BK is playing the long game, and Lisa is his way in.

Pedro exhaled sharply. He had two choices—keep trying to subtly steer Lisa away from BK, or tell her the whole truth and risk losing her trust completely.

He stared at his phone, then made a decision. He dialed Lisa's number.

"Hey, babe," she answered, sounding cheerful.

"We need to talk." His voice was firm. "It's about BK."

You don't have to worry about that BK is going back to UK tomorrow so can we please forget about this I don't like it when we fight please daddy.... She says

His heart melt at the last sentence and he smiled, you know what you are right, it's good that he is gone anyways.,,,. Oh and daddy misses you.

I miss him too

Jah come give me a hug I'm outside your house babe..

Lisa: are you serious

Pedro : yes come I gpnt something for you

Lisa comes out and we stay in the car for about 30 minutes I miss her and if it wasn't for the fact that I'm infront of her parents house I would have her here right now but it's late she needs to go back in I can't even drive with her to my apartment this time without her mother's permission.

One month later

BK continued to stay in contact with Lisa, even after he returned to the UK. He was subtle, never pushing too hard, but always there. Always asking questions about Pedro. At times, Lisa felt uneasy about how interested he was in Pedro's business dealings, but when she voiced it, BK laughed it off.

"Oh, come on, Lisa. You can't tell me you've never wondered how Pedro's family makes their money," he said one evening during a video call.

Lisa frowned. "What are you saying?"

BK smirked. "Nothing, nothing. Just… people talk. Some say they have more than just casinos. I even heard a rumor about human trafficking and drug deals." He chuckled. "Obviously, that's crazy, right?"

Lisa's stomach twisted. "Of course it is," she said quickly. But the seed of doubt had been planted.

Meanwhile, Pedro had his own problem to deal with—Nicole.

Nicole had been relentless, bombarding his phone with texts and calls, begging for another chance. When that didn't work, she resorted to threats.

If you don't talk to me, I'll send Lisa pictures of us. Let's see how much she loves you after that.

Pedro had no patience for games. His security team had already blocked Nicole on all platforms, but she kept finding new ways to reach him.

One evening, as Pedro sat in his office, his phone buzzed with an unknown number. He answered, already knowing who it was.

"Pedro, please—"

"I'm warning you, Nicole. If you try anything stupid, you'll regret it."

"You wouldn't hurt a woman," she sneered.

Pedro leaned back in his chair, his voice dangerously calm. "I don't hurt women, but I don't tolerate threats either. Keep pushing, and you'll see what happens."

Silence.

Then a shaky breath from the other end. "I just… I miss you."

Pedro hung up. He had more important things to worry about. Lisa was still in contact with BK, and whether she knew it or not, she was playing right into their enemy's hands...

Pedro had to find a way to protect her—before it was too late.
