Background History: The Hierarchy of The Werewolf World

The werewolf world was built on power, and power determined everything, who thrived, who suffered, and who ruled. At the very top of this hierarchy were the Lycans, the undisputed kings of the supernatural realm. Beneath them, the werewolf packs were divided into three distinct groups based on strength, wealth, and influence.

1. The Elite Packs (The Dominants)

The Elite Packs were the mightiest in the werewolf kingdom, second only to the Lycan Pack. Their warriors were fierce, their alphas feared. These packs controlled vast territories, commanded wealth, and held close ties with the Lycan rulers. Their offspring were trained to lead, to rule, to kill if necessary. It was rare for anyone from these packs to be challenged. They answered only to the Lycan pack.

Key Traits: Powerful warriors, wealthy, only scared of the Lycans

Status: Respected and feared

Education: Almost all their young wolves attended Lunar Crest Academy, either through wealth, prestige, or sheer strength

2. The Noble Packs (The Middle-Class Wolves)

The Noble Packs were neither weak nor among the strongest. They held decent power and wealth but were still subject to the Elite Packs and the Lycans. These packs often served as warriors, advisors, or skilled professionals in the werewolf kingdom.

Key Traits: Stable but not overly powerful, respected but not feared

Status: Middle-tier in society, striving for more power

Education: Some of their young wolves attended Lunar Crest Academy, but admission was expensive and competitive

3. The Feral Packs (The Forsaken, The Weakest)

At the very bottom were the Feral Packs—the struggling, the outcasts, the barely surviving. Life in this packs was brutal. They had little land, few resources, and no real power. They were often mistreated by the stronger packs, used for labor, or forced into servitude. To the Elite and Noble Packs, they were nothing more than wild dogs, barely deserving of the werewolf name.

Key Traits: Weak, poor, often mistreated

Status: Looked down upon, forced to obey stronger packs

Education: Lunar Crest Academy was never meant for them, except through the cursed scholarship

Lorraine Anderson's pack, ShadowFang Pack, is a part of the Feral Packs. They command neither wealth nor power in the werewolf world.

Lunar Crest Academy – A School for the Powerful

Built centuries ago on sacred ground, Lunar Crest Academy was the most prestigious werewolf institution in existence. It was more than a school, it was a training ground for future rulers, warriors, and strategists. The academy was controlled by the Lycan Pack, and only the strongest and wealthiest wolves were allowed to step through its gates.

The academy was a fortress, its towering walls made of ancient stone said to be blessed by the Moon Goddess. Inside, students were trained in combat, strategy, and leadership. They were pushed to their limits, both physically and mentally, ensuring that only the strongest emerged.

For the Elite and Noble Packs, Lunar Crest Academy was a privilege. For the Feral Packs, it was a death sentence.

The Cursed Scholarship – A Death Sentence in Disguise

Decades ago, the Lycan Pack announced a "scholarship program" for the least-powerful packs. One wolf from each of the Feral Packs would be chosen every year and granted the "honor" of attending Lunar Crest Academy, free of charge.

At first, many believed it was an act of generosity, a chance for the weakest wolves to rise above their status. A chance to prove themselves.

But then the truth became clear.

No one who received the scholarship ever returned.

There were no letters, no messages, no proof of life. Some packs received brief notices that their chosen wolves had "tragically died" due to accidents, training mishaps, or illness. Others received nothing at all, as if their wolves had simply disappeared into thin air.

As time passed, it became obvious: this was no scholarship. This was a sacrifice.

A way for the Lycan Pack to rid the world of the weak.

To be chosen meant certain death.

Yet, each year, the Lycans still came, collecting their victims like lambs to slaughter. And no pack, no matter how much they wanted to, could refuse. Refusing meant rebellion, and rebellion meant annihilation.

So the Feral Packs continued sending their chosen wolves, hoping, praying that maybe this time would be different. But it never was.

And now, it was Lorraine Anderson's turn.
