Chapter 3 - The Black Viper Threat

The morning air over the Wen Clan's territory was crisp, yet it carried a tension that hadn't existed days prior. Whispers of change swept through the mountain peaks like an invisible tide. Word of the awakening sigils, the Patriarch's reforms, and the Veil of Shadows Pavilion had spread like wildfire—igniting awe, fear, and for some, ambition.

Wen Wuxing stood at the edge of the Patriarch's Peak, overlooking the bustling valley below. Disciples, from raw recruits to battle-hardened elders, moved with renewed purpose. Cultivation sessions were no longer rote repetitions—they were battles of will and desire. The spirit fields had become more fertile overnight, and a faint azure mist—a byproduct of the newly awakened Guardian Beast's aura—now infused the peak.

Ding! Clan-wide morale increased by 10%. Training efficiency enhanced for 7 days.

Bonus activated due to Guardian Beast presence.

Wuxing's eyes glinted. The Azure Flame Qilin curled near the meditation hall, breathing softly, its scales shimmering beneath the sun.

But peace was fleeting.

A disciple in Wen armor rushed up the slope, bowed deeply, and presented a jade token.

"Patriarch! Urgent report from the eastern borders—our outer scouting units encountered forces from the Black Viper Sect. They claim we've overstepped our boundaries and have given an ultimatum: surrender territory or face war."

Wuxing's gaze darkened.

"The Black Vipers…" His voice was low, almost cold.

A minor sect in the Black Serpent Mountains, yet known for their ruthless tactics and underhanded dealings. They had long coveted the Wen Clan's eastern trade routes. Now, emboldened by rumors of Wen resurgence, they sought to challenge them before they grew too strong.

A grave mistake.

"Summon the Council of Elders. Prepare for battle."

Minutes later, the Grand Hall buzzed with tension. Elders gathered, voices hushed.

Wuxing stood at the center, a projection of the borderlands hovering midair, pinpointing encampments of Black Viper forces.

"They've deployed two Nascent Soul elders and a troop of a hundred Core Formation cultivators," Wuxing stated, voice measured. "They believe we will fold. They believe wrong."

Elder Wen Heng stepped forward. "Shall we deploy our forces immediately? Our outer peaks can field sufficient numbers."

"No," Wuxing replied. "The Wen Clan shall not merely react. We will dominate."

He waved his hand. A new projection appeared—a hidden valley east of the contested border.

"We strike here. Not at their main camp, but their spiritual spring, the heart of their resources. Destroy it, and they'll wither."

Silence, then nods. The plan was bold, but effective.

Ding! Mission Progress 20%: Tactical plan formulated.

Optional Objective unlocked: Destroy Black Viper Sect Resource Spring. Bonus: Guardian Beast Tier Upgrade.

The elders dispersed, and Wuxing summoned Wen Lei, his most trusted battle commander.

"You will lead fifty elite disciples. Take the Ashen Guard formation."

Lei bowed. "It shall be done."

"And Lei," Wuxing added, "no survivors among their leadership."

Night fell. The clan's elite forces slipped through the mountain passes, cloaked in silence. The Ashen Guard formation, empowered by sigils, moved like shadows. Hours passed before they descended upon the spiritual spring, its aura a beacon in the dark.

The battle was brutal, swift, and decisive. Wen blades flashed. Sigils pulsed. The Black Viper defenders barely had time to raise alarms before they were overwhelmed.

Wuxing watched from afar, his eyes like cold stars. His System interface pulsed.

Mission Progress 80%: Resource Spring destroyed. Enemy leadership eliminated.

New development: Black Viper Sect in disarray. Victory assured.

Reward: Tier 2 Medicine Field unlocked. Guardian Beast evolved to Juvenile Stage.

Hours later, as dawn broke, Wuxing received a report: Black Viper Sect forces were retreating en masse, abandoning their encampments.

He strode to the central square, where disciples gathered for morning drills.

"Wen Clan," his voice echoed, amplified by sigil. "Last night, the Black Viper Sect dared challenge us. This morning, they flee, broken and humiliated."

A roar of triumph swept the crowd.

Wuxing raised his hand. "Let this be a lesson. Those who covet what is ours will be crushed. The Wen Clan rises, and no one will stand in our way."

Ding! Clan-wide morale permanently increased. Reputation boosted across Kilimangodo state.

Next Mission: Establish trade alliances. Unlock territory for expansion.

But Wuxing's gaze turned inward. Victory was sweet, but fleeting. Greater enemies loomed beyond the borders. And the Wen Clan's true rise… had only begun.
