Chapter 24: The "Gold Content" of the Manual and the "Blessing of the Angel God"
Hearing Han Li's words, Guang Ling and Qing Luan didn't react much. Since he had stated clearly that studying medicine and botany would only be a hobby outside of his cultivation, they had no objections.
"Mm, as long as it doesn't interfere with your training, do as you like. But you sure have an eye for things. That Chrysanthemum freak cherishes his precious plants more than anything this demand was probably half a death sentence for him." Guang Ling chuckled as he downed another cup of wine.
"So, Master, time to start fabricating the 'insights,'" Han Li reminded him.
"Oh, no problem. Let's get started now. I'll make sure to write it as clearly as possible. Whether or not they can comprehend it? Well, that depends on their own understanding."
Guang Ling and Han Li exchanged a glance, and the same mischievous smile appeared on both their faces. Qing Luan, watching from the side, couldn't help but feel that their grins looked a bit… wicked. Even though the two hadn't spent as much time together as he had with Guang Ling, they were oddly in sync when it came to these things. He could only chalk it up to some kind of master disciple compatibility some things just couldn't be explained.
Under Qing Luan's watchful gaze, the master and disciple whispered to each other while pulling out a booklet, scribbling away.
At first, Qing Luan was surprised Guang Ling was actually writing down his genuine cultivation insights in a serious manner. But after reading through a good portion of it, he looked up at the sky, utterly speechless.
Yes, Guang Ling had indeed written detailed explanations, and they were so thorough that even Qing Luan couldn't find any flaws. But when it came to reaching Rank 95 and beyond, Guang Ling's true intentions became clear.
He had indeed written down his real experiences because what he wrote was essentially Wuhun Hall's internal documentation. Any Titled Douluo had the right to access these materials. But when it came to specific breakthroughs, his words suddenly became vague and cryptic.
For example:
"Breaking through to Rank 96 is actually very simple. Once you reach Rank 95, you just need to develop your martial soul's unique traits, and you'll find that it's relatively easy."
Or:
"This has already been explained in internal documents those who understand will understand. If you don't, then I can't explain it to you. It's a matter of personal talent. Even if I tell you, you still might not get it. So… do you understand now?"
Of course, Guang Ling wasn't completely heartless he did include some practical advice. But it wasn't much better. He specifically noted:
"If you have twin martial souls, you can try adding spirit rings to your second martial soul. This may give you a chance to break through. If you don't have one… then, well, too bad."
Was Guang Ling telling the truth? Yes. But did he tell the whole truth? Absolutely not.
This was exactly how he had broken through to Rank 96 by following the internal documentation. But beyond that, he had been stuck for a long time. He conveniently omitted the insights that had actually allowed him to reach Rank 97, along with the advice the other worshippers had given him.
After all, Bibi Dong's request was for his insights to help Chrysanthemum and Ghost Douluo reach Rank 96. She hadn't said anything about insights from others, and Guang Ling certainly wasn't about to share those.
He wasn't lying he'd even swear on the Angel God if needed.
Once finished, Guang Ling read through the booklet again, making sure that the only useful information was from the internal documents. He was quite satisfied after all, Chrysanthemum and Ghost Douluo had probably read these materials countless times. If they could really break through with his "if you understand, you understand" nonsense, then he'd accept his fate.
After some thought, he turned to Han Li. "Got anything to add?"
Han Li considered it. Better to leave a little wiggle room. Who knows? Maybe we'll end up on the same side later. No need to burn all the bridges.
After hesitating for a moment, he took the booklet and added a final note:
*"The biggest reason you two are stuck at Rank 95 is that you exhausted your potential before reaching Titled Douluo. Chrysanthemum's Qirong Tongtian Ju and Ghost's martial soul were never meant to be Power Attack or Agility Attack types. Forcing them to the Super Douluo level is already pushing their limits.
If you can find the right heavenly treasures one to restore your essence and another to enhance your soul that would be the proper path forward.
Even if you comprehend the mysteries of your martial souls, forcibly ascending now may result in disastrous consequences. Keep that in mind."*
After reading Han Li's note, Guang Ling silently handed the booklet to Qing Luan. The two of them stared at the last section for a long time before looking at Han Li strangely.
Then they both sighed at the same time.
"You're really a freak, you know that?" Guang Ling muttered. "This is something a six year old is supposed to comprehend? Sometimes I really want to crack open your head and see what's inside."
"Maybe it's the blessing of the Angel God," Han Li answered casually, unfazed by their reactions.
He had always known that his way of thinking was different from the others, and he had deliberately used it to secure his position. If he didn't stand out, how could he get these powerhouses to support him? So there was no point in pretending to be dumb. As long as he firmly sided with the Worship Hall, they would naturally help clear his path forward.
"The Angel God's blessing?"
Guang Ling and Qing Luan's expressions became even weirder. They weren't too familiar with the details, but they at least knew who their boss's superior was. More importantly, one of their own was standing right in front of them.
If they remembered correctly, Han Li had passed by the Angel statue several times before. And not once had there been a reaction.
He really just came up with the laziest excuse he could think of. If the Great Worshiper heard this, Han Li would definitely get a good beating.
The last time someone made nonsense claims like this, it was Guang Ling himself and he had gotten whipped by Qian Daoliu. At least the master disciple tradition was intact.
With night settling in, the two Titled Douluo didn't linger. They sent Han Li off to rest and even granted him a day off tomorrow before leaving together.
Han Li was genuinely exhausted. As soon as he returned to his room, he abandoned any thoughts of meditation and collapsed onto his bed. Before long, the room was filled with the sound of steady breathing.
The night passed uneventfully.
At nine the next morning, Xiu'er woke Han Li up.
After a quick wash, he hurried toward Qing Luan's residence.
10 a.m. was the agreed transaction time he couldn't afford to be late.
Most importantly, he had to obtain information on the immortal herbs.
He didn't care if Guang Ling got swindled in other areas, but this was non negotiable.
