Chapter 4 - The Price of Knowledge

The Viltrumite rummaged through Arlong's office with cold determination. Papers flew, drawers were ripped out, and old maps were scattered across the floor. He was searching for something specific: a world map. Something that could give him a clear view of the geography of this strange, fragmented planet.

Then, the door slowly creaked open. Nami stepped inside, hesitant but with a glimmer of determination in her eyes. She looked at the man in the yellow cape, who didn't even bother to lift his gaze to her.

"What are you going to do with the village?" she asked, trying to keep her voice steady. "Are you the new pirate who's going to take over the island?"

The Viltrumite continued sifting through the papers, ignoring her completely. He picked up an old map, examined it for a few seconds, then tossed it aside, dissatisfied.

Finally, he spoke—without even looking at her:

"You, human, tell me everything you know about the world and its geography. Every detail. If not, I'll kill you."

His voice was casual, as if he were asking for something trivial. He kept searching, showing no interest in Nami as a person. To him, she was nothing more than a source of information.

Nami swallowed hard. She was scared but knew she couldn't show weakness.

"I'll tell you everything... but on one condition. You won't do what Arlong did. You won't enslave us. And when you're done, you leave."

The Viltrumite paused for a moment, finally looking at her. His red eyes gleamed with fleeting interest. He noticed how the woman who had entered trembling was now speaking with surprising confidence. She was willing to risk her life for her village and her friends.

He smirked—a smile that didn't reach his eyes.

"I have no intention of ruling this island," he said, resuming his search through the papers. "I will rule the world, sooner or later. So don't worry. I won't establish any regime on your island."

Nami didn't fully understand what he meant by "rule the world," but the relief of knowing he had no plans to stay on the island was enough. She began to speak, detailing everything she knew about the world—its geography, its structure, and all the knowledge she had gathered over the years. She spoke of the Grand Line, the four seas, and even the unknown territories.

The Viltrumite didn't interrupt. He simply listened with an impassive interest, his eyes focused as she spoke, his hands nearly expressionless as he flipped through a few maps. She kept talking, her body exhausted but her voice steady. For three hours straight, she shared everything she knew about the world.

Then, finally, the Viltrumite spoke, his voice calm, almost indifferent.

"That's it?" he asked, as if expecting more.

"Interesting."

He rose from the chair and picked up a few maps of the East Blue region left by Arlong. With an almost imperceptible movement, he stashed them away, and before Nami could react, he was already in the air—flying—breaking through the office ceiling with the force of his takeoff. The maps he hadn't taken were left scattered on the floor among the debris.

Nami stood frozen, staring at the hole in the ceiling. She felt tears rolling down her face, but this time, they weren't of fear or sorrow. They were of relief.

"Finally free... we're free," she whispered, collapsing to her knees on the ground.

At that moment, she didn't know if the Viltrumite was a hero or a villain. But somehow, his actions had brought an end to the suffering of this island. The people—those who had been oppressed by Arlong, now looking up at the sky—felt a deep relief in their hearts.

Even if the being who freed them was despicable, cruel by nature, something good had come from his presence. As difficult as it was, they knew deep down that the island was now free—that they could finally live without the fear of a new tyrant.

And as strange as it seemed, in silence, they thanked the villain who had set them free.
