Chapter 7 - ROMEO'S LAMENT

Meanwhile the chief of Justice was flooded by condolences as news of a fire wiping out his family began to spread, he has no mourning tears to give. That Saturday morning he didn't go to office, but he went to see Rose after she visited the palace. "Were meeting three times in a row, are you up to something Romeo?" Rose questioned the schemer, Romeo only looked deep into her eyes and flirted "Isn't it obvious...." he made a long pause while keeping strict eye contact "I just want to spend more time with you". Rose didn't know how to respond to this jab at her feelings, after all she had only known one love in all her life. His eyes while kind and caring felt very distant as if they were gazing at someone more dazzling, it was clear to her that Romeo had a version of her that seemed absolutely perfect which was not her. She only smiled and turned to her right gazing at the distant city from the Room 52 terrace, the waiter came to them baring the menu and an ill omen for Romeo. "Ohh my! Mr. Serame, you have my deepest condolences..." but when the waiter looked at the woman sitting next to Romeo he couldn't believe it, Rose noticed the intense stare given by the man and she too couldn't believe who she was looking at. All the memories of yesterday came rushing back as she stared at the face of the king but he wasn't the king, Rose was in absolute shock so she read the name tag on the man's chest and it was written there 'Dominic'. A Haunting mimic or probably a cruel joke by God, it was the same face and name. Romeo asked the waiter "Why are you saying that?" and the waiter shook up from his daze "Ohh right, its all over the news. Your family estate burned down in a fire killing your family, sir you are probably the only member of your family left." Romeo pretended to be in extreme shock as he played out his bluff of ignorance, "Rose! i have to go now, I'm sorry lets talk another time." he stood up and Rose felt the urge to stop him but his pain was so great she couldn't help but drop her outstretched hand and he left her there, Rose is a very intelligent detective hence Romeo knew if he stuck around her for too long she'd figure him out and once she started suspecting him their partnership would be over.

Rose sat in her seat changing her attention to the strange waiter, "ill have a burger and bring me one of those mocktails.....I'll let you chose for me" this was clearly a test by Rose, a test to unveil the identity of this man. Dominic the waiter took her order to the chef but as he stood at the bar mixing up her drink he couldn't help but think, "She looks exactly like her, those blue crystal eyes and rose gold hair....its definitely her." and he spoke out "how can anyone be so beautiful" and the other waiter standing next to him heard this expression of admiration and he nudged. "Dominic do you even know who that is? She is Detective Rose Kylie, someone like us doesn't stand a chance. I heard she has rejected every man who has proposed her except one, the father of her son is the only person she has ever dated from what I've heard." as the man concluded Dominic got curious "Why were you digging up information on her, did you have a crush too?" but the waiter refused the implications clearly lying. "I don't know man, she is a beauty one can only stare at and be satisfied he witnessed her. But you can try your luck if you think you're up to it." the waiter concluded as Dominic stirred up the mocktail. He brought the mocktail to her and proclaimed "Here is your mocktail, its a special not found on the menu. I call it 'Golden Rose' and its on the house." His proclamation left Rose without words, she let down a single drop of nostalgia from her eyelid as she sipped up the mocktail, and she thought 'only one person knows this combination, i hoped it wouldn't be him because now my mystery is finally solved. The reason for Dominic's disappearance and the reason he was different, they were twins all along and i couldn't see it." Rose was unsure of her theory but only Dominic could illuminate her burning questions, so she said nothing for the time being. Dominic saw her tear and he lamented inwardly as he walked back to the bar, the chef called for him to collect another customers order and he did. Romeo drove to his families mansion in the 'Pitsane farms', as he drove the memory of Rose glancing at Dominic haunted him. Even though he reunited them he knew it was a gamble that could cost him the love he has for Rose but inwardly he lamented "If only i had not met Rose that one time, then i would have been the most efficient in my plans". Romeo suddenly looked back to his high school life, diagnosed with schizophrenia for a year he had to repeat tenth grade then in eleventh grade he met the devil of his demise

The seventeen year old boy walked into the senior high school hopeful and joyful because he had fully recovered from the mental illness, just as he walked towards the school hall he saw a girl standing near the railings surrounding the hall. Her beauty sublime and her features heavenly, he fell into the spell of her eyes as she turned to face the incoming stranger. For him this dark paradise bloomed in full, she was everything he dreamed off, she was the woman he dreamed off when he slept, she was the remedy of his long night when he suffered from the mental illness. Standing there illuminated by the school hall lights in the dark morning, Rose saw this stranger who stared at her but she wouldn't not entertain any boy after what she had gone through. The memory of the past brought him to the end of his journey as he peered at the charred mansion, he walked on the rubble of his chains as he cried in joy "Now i can finally! finally! be free of that old man and his weakling nest and now i will fly to my destiny." But a sudden pain in his chest ended the celebrations, it was the pain of having to destroy the life Joseph has and how that would hurt Rose. Rose didn't know what kind of world Joseph had been plunged into but he knew very well, he knew about the dangers that would follow a fallen royal "If i do it, only death will await the beloved prince of Bechuanaland. If only i had not met you that day, then i would do it all without a single care." There in the burnt dirt Romeo fell on his knees with a wavering resolve, he fell in love with the wrong person.
