Chapter 36 - CHAPTER 36

The match continued as Luton's goal replayed on the TV screen.

From a different camera angle, Vardy's movement was fully visible—blistering pace!

Lin Sen was in awe. Just before the cross, Vardy was still outside the penalty area. But once he accelerated, he moved like a cheetah pouncing on its prey, his falcon-like gaze locked onto the ball. The defender? It was as if he didn't even exist.

Lin Sen suddenly felt a sense of longing.

That instinct… That hunger for goal… It was something to be admired.

His eyes drifted to a small notebook beside his pillow—his coaching certificate. It was only a D-level license, but for a football fanatic like Lin Sen, it was just the beginning. Climbing the ranks, earning an A-level license, and one day managing a professional team—that was the dream, even if it was through the Chinese Football Association.

The broadcast returned to live action, and Lin Sen refocused on the game.

Luton's relentless high pressing was suffocating their opponents. Such tactics were tough for League Two teams to handle, especially in England, where lower-league sides often relied on physicality rather than tactical discipline. Many coaches at this level belonged to the old-school English tradition—favoring grit over strategy.

Tactically, England had always lagged behind continental Europe, particularly in the lower divisions. Most teams outside the Premier League were still managed by conservative, long-ball traditionalists. Even now, Ethan had yet to face a coach in League Two who had properly adapted to counter Luton's aggressive style.

League Two was too small a pond—he needed to get this team promoted as soon as possible.

Ethan stood firm on the touchline. This match was a milestone for Luton, and he would not tolerate any slip-ups.

There were none. In the 32nd minute of the first half, Luton struck again.

This time, it was Charlie Austin. The young forward charged into the penalty area and smashed the ball off the underside of the crossbar—goal!

Ethan threw his arms in the air, roaring in celebration. Now, the game was under control!

Lin Sen also found himself cheering. He rarely let emotions take over while watching football, but this match was different. He couldn't help but applaud Ethan's team.

But football is never straightforward.

Just before halftime, Port Vale—Luton's opponents—delivered a dangerous cross into the box, causing chaos. Their striker took advantage and found the net.

The camera immediately cut to Ethan. The Luton manager was furious about conceding from a set piece. He ripped off his suit jacket and flung it to the ground in frustration.

"Ooooh! Even the usually composed Ethan has lost his cool!" the commentator, Letkinson, chuckled. "That tells you just how much this match means to Luton. Those boys better brace themselves for the manager's hairdryer treatment at halftime!"

Ethan's white dress shirt was drenched in sweat, clinging to his skin, highlighting his broad shoulders and muscular chest. But the cameras weren't focused on his physique—they were locked on his furious expression.

He barked toward the pitch: "George! Did you even eat today?!"

George Parker, the defender at fault, didn't dare respond. His mistimed header had gifted the opposition their goal.

With that, the first half ended.

Despite leading, Ethan's face was grim. Luton had only conceded three goals all season. While the team scored plenty, their defensive solidity was the foundation of their success.

The second half resumed, and Luton wasted no time restoring their dominance.

From a corner kick, George Parker—eager to redeem himself—rose highest in the box and thumped a powerful header into the net!

Ethan clenched his fists and roared in triumph.

Mistakes were unacceptable, but making amends was everything.

Still, he knew this match meant more than just three points.

Luton had started the season with a brutal 30-point deduction. Without it, they would have been top of the league already.

And Ethan wasn't about to let that stop them.

From the touchline, he let his emotions explode.

This goal completely ignited the passion of the stadium. With the atmosphere at a boiling point, Luton kept pressing forward.

In the 63rd minute, after Kanté intercepted the ball just outside the penalty area, he took a shot from the edge of the box. The ball deflected off a defender and looped into the net!

4-1!

"Kanté!!!!!! He's done it!!! This time, it's Kanté! Luton's king of interceptions has shown he can score from distance too! The score is now 4-1! There's no doubt about the result anymore! Luton's points deduction? Consider it erased!" Letkinson shouted.

Inside the stadium, Luton fans erupted in celebration—singing, dancing, and even shedding tears of joy.

Just a few months ago, when the team was hit with a points deduction after narrowly avoiding relegation last season, it felt like a death sentence. Fans were devastated, convinced that Luton had no hope of survival. The consensus was clear: relegation was inevitable.

But in just ten league matches, Ethan had rewritten that narrative. Relegation? Not a chance!

With Luton's current scoring rate, if they were to win their remaining 36 matches, they could even be in the title race. Of course, nobody truly believes they will go unbeaten for an entire season. Even ten straight wins have been beyond anyone's expectations.

"Honestly, if Luton secures a promotion play-off spot by the end of the season, I wouldn't be surprised!" Letkinson said, echoing the thoughts of many.

Right now, Luton looks like a shark in the small pond of League Two—too dominant for their competition. Almost no team seems capable of stopping them.

"A team of this caliber does not belong in League Two!" Letkinson declared.

Some might even argue they belong in the Premier League.

But Letkinson held back on that thought. He wasn't sure if Luton's relentless, high-intensity style would work against top-flight opposition.

This team rarely relies on long balls. They don't obsess over possession. Instead, they attack directly and decisively. Within just a few passes, they create a scoring opportunity. When out of possession, their suffocating high press quickly wins the ball back.

It looks simple, but Letkinson knew that maintaining this level of discipline required elite coaching and well-drilled players. This system also demands extreme physical endurance. Yet, through ten matches, Luton's squad has shown they can sustain it.

What Letkinson didn't know was that fitness had always been a cornerstone of Luton's training philosophy. Ethan meticulously selects his starting XI based on stamina and mental resilience. His squad isn't just talented—they're warriors.

This is a fearless team.
