Chapter 2 - The Awakening Ceremony Part One

Fang Yuan became aware that something had been added to his 'inventory.'

What surprised him slightly was that it had not been given to him directly.

Come to think of it, did he even have the primeval stone in reality or was this just messing with him?

Withdraw from inventory?

The moment he thought about it, that message popped up.

What was this 'inventory?' He knew of storage-type gu worms, though this seemed to have an inventory all on its own.

Come to think of it, this 'system' seemed to be able to do far too much. Gu worms typically could only do one thing, be that attack or defense or something else.

As an example, the Spring Autumn Cicada had been the highest ranked gu worm that he had ever owned, and yet, it had been no help to him during his last battle before he used it to go back in time. That was because going back in time was its only ability, not attack or defense.

And yet this 'system' could generate primeval stones, store them, and even seemed to have some information-type methods. It was far too expansive to simply be a single gu worm.

He only withdrew a single primeval stone, and his pupils dilated as he felt one appear in his hand. The count of stones in his inventory had dropped down from three to two, but this was a real, for goodness sake primeval stone!

Primeval stones were used in cultivation to replete one's primeval essence, and since they were so useful to Gu Masters, they were used as this world's currency in the place of normal gold and silver coinage.

However, Fang Yuan had not awakened his aperture yet, and could not use this. He hastily wanted to put it back, only to find that he couldn't.

Note: Items once withdrawn from 'Inventory' cannot be placed back.

So that was it...

It looked like he would need a storage-type gu worm to store the primeval stone and could not use the system to do so.

He frowned. The primeval stone he was holding, although valuable, now felt like a mouse trap he had placed his hand into.

After all, if people asked, where would he say that it came from?

His aunt and uncle, though they doted upon him simply out of respect for his talent, would not give him something like this. A primeval stone could feed a family easily for a week, and while a single stone was less valuable for Gu Masters, it was still not something that could be taken lightly.

There had been times during his previous life where he did not have a single stone to his name, he had not been able to feed his gu worms, and had basically fallen into worse straights than a mortal. He had done odd jobs during those time periods to get by...

As he contemplated those things, with firm resolution he shattered the stone in his hand. The primeval essence scattered in the air before being carried away by the wind.

He had considered hiding it somewhere, but it was far too likely that he would be discovered.

After all, he would soon be exposed as a C-grade talent tomorrow, and then would lose favor with his aunt and uncle. They would soon seek a reason to get rid of him afterwards, and framing him for stealing a primeval stone would make this task much easier.

Birds die for food, humans die for wealth!

Even though Fang Yuan knew he needed many thousands if not tens of thousands of primeval stones in the future, it was courting trouble to keep that primeval stone with him.

A beggar holding a diamond necklace was asking to be robbed- it was much the same!

However, it had not been a total waste. He still had the two stones in his inventory, and would be able to use them later.

He wanted to look into the system further, but knew he had to sleep for tomorrow's ceremony.

The next day, the daily quest was much the same, to do five push-ups. The reward was also the same, three primeval stones.

With this, Fang Yuan had to say that the system's primeval stone rewards in and of themselves were of great help during his journey.

That of course, made him slightly worried. Not only about the origin of the system itself, but if it could be detected by others. Something that could generate primeval stones practically for free, even if small in amount, would be widely coveted.

He had no idea if others could see it, though as he thought so a notification popped up.

System is visible only to the user.

He frowned. He somehow doubted that it could say, protect itself from a Venerable's deduction, though at this point he could only take its word for it.

"Is Young Master satisfied with his appearance?" a girl asked him.

He had been so engrossed in thinking about the system that he had barely taken note of Shen Cui. She was one of the family servants, a mortal who had only slightly above average looks- but because she had been in close proximity to the two brothers had been able to charm both of them.

Fang Yuan had fell for her feminine wiles in his last life, though he knew her true nature. What concerned him currently was to reach Rank Three as soon as possible and bounce, as he knew the locations of some very valuable inheritances that could greatly speed up his journey. However, they were in remote and dangerous areas, meaning he could not go to them right now.

Secret Quest Unlocked!

If She Breathes, She's a Thot I

Description: ???

Reward: ???

Ah, it looked like there was a secret quest... though the fact that he couldn't figure out how to do it or what it would give him as a reward was annoying.

He was supposed to get something for finishing the Awakening ceremony, but what that was was also a mystery.

Shen Cui pouted as Fang Yuan was not doting upon her as he usually did.
