My silent plea seemed to reach the being pulling me towards the light.
It felt comforting to be released from the grasp of darkness, to see the space around me shift into what I persume heaven truly is.
My body no longer felt like my own, it was like a puppet being dragged along the lines of the afterlife and beyond.
As the light forced the dark out to oblivion, my soul continued to travel through the lifeless vessel of a body.
I felt the environment around me change. It was no longer cold and eerie.
Just then, a hand reached out to me. I couldn't see it nor hear it, but something inside me, a gut feeling, told me a large, divine hand was urging me to hold it.
No matter how hard I tried to move, to receive help from my saviour, nothing went my way.
When I needed luck most, it failed to abide by my wishes.
"Child,"
A calm, unidentifiable voice called out to me. It rang into the fragments of my desperate soul.
"An unsightly sight indeed. My child, heed my call."
Obviously I would. What else can I do?! I have no choice but to follow the light you present to me.
"Oho! You have quite the attitude, don't you? The superiors have been choosing odd ones as of late."
I couldn't discern what being was speaking to me. A god? Paparazzi filming my dead body?
"God... I quite like that title. Nevermind that. Tell me, child, do you wish to be reborn?"
I felt a tingle, a fragment of my corrupting soul shattering with their words. I was breaking, and the space around me began to dim.
"This is an urgent matter. Will you stay and disappear completely, or will you find a way to continue the life you lost?"
The life I lost. The life I had wanted for so long, ended in a blink of an eye.
"Child! Accept, or leave behind a weak legacy soon to be forgotten. There is no time!"
Darkness started enveloping the last of what I had left, thoughts racing in my mind as I internally screamed out my final option. I didn't want to die this way.
"..."
There was silence, and time ticked as the sight of light faded beneath my soul.
"Good choice. Rest your weakened soul. You'll soon awaken in a world awaiting your presence. Throw away your regrets, and start anew."
I started to completely crumble or melt, I couldn't tell. My consciousness faded along with my light and the voice.
Wherever I may end up, I wished to land somewhere safe – somewhere I didn't need to worry at all.
