Chapter 5 - Confirmation

The dark fog of the Far Lands...

According to Anderson's memories, it is a mysterious place that is both an ocean and land.

Most people who choose to explore it never come back, but those who do have completely different accounts of what they saw when entering and exiting from the same entrance.

Some say it is a vast ocean filled with thick fog that could clog up one's lungs, others say it is a mysterious forest that houses many ancient beast that stalks them in the dark. This makes it very hard to create a map of the area, further more the waters near the dark fog is very violent and unpredictable.

This causes many adventurers stay as far away as possible from the route leading to the dark fog, afraid to be lost in the ocean forever...

At this moment the blonde Sharon raised this exact question that Noir had in his mind.

"Isin't this abit to dangerous?"

The skiny adventurer expected this, and replied calmly. "Well we will be taking a different route.

"As you can see from the map, I have recieved news of a safer enterence to the dark fog. The waters there are much more tame, thus eliminating the danger of the route towards it."

"But it does not reduce the danger in the dark fog!" The blonde Sharon retorted.

The skiny adventurer sat at his seat in silence for a few seconds.

Tap. Tap. Tap. "I agree with Sharon on this one Noel, even if we can get there safely, there is still the unknown dangers lurking in the dark fog." Victor started to tap the wodden table.

At the other side of the table next to the red cloaked Ryan, the gloomy Peter spoke. "Yes that is true, however is there always dangers during our expeditions?"

"But-" The blonde Sharon tried to rebut but was cut of mid sentence.

"If we don't take risks, how can we gather relics of the ancient empire and improve our status? I don't want our team to be stuck as a second rate adventuring team in the city of Aria."

But that doesn't mean that we should be rushing into the unknown... Noir complained.

There seems to be a common trait among all these adventurers, they all like to rush to their deaths! Both Anderson and the gloomy Peter are part of them!

"..."

At this moment the red cloaked Ryan broke the awkward silence.

"How about we have a vote?"

All the adventurers at the table turned to look at Ryan. After a few seconds of thinking, they all gave a small nod, indicating their approval.

Seeing this, Ryan's mouth curled upwards into a small smile. "Good in that case, those who agree to this expedition please raise your hand."

The gloomy Peter and the Skinny Noel raised their hands.

"Those who don't agree please raise your hand."

The blonde Sharon and Victor raised their hands.

"Hmm, it seems that it is a tie..." The smile on Ryan's face disappeared.

Victor, with his hoarse voice replied. "Well, you and Anderson haven't voted yet."

"Since I am the team leader, I don't think it is fair if I voted." The red cloaked Ryan raised his arms, puting it on the table and intertwined his fingers loosely. "I think Anderson should be the one who breaks this tie."

What! Why me? Your the group leader, you should be the one with the final decision... Noir was flustered, suddenly being put on spot by Ryan.

What should I say...

"I think it is better if you decide it Ryan, it be unfair if an outsider like me breaks it." Noir answered in Anderson's direct manner of speech.

Ryan once agained curled up his lips revealing a smile. "You being an outsider is precisely you should break it.

"As the group leader I have a certain amount of influenece, thus it is best if you decide."

Uh, uhhh... Dam what now? I really don't want to go on the expedition, I can't risk dying and suddenly not being to transmigrate once again...

But if I disagree it will make it seem unatural...

I got it! I can give them a resonable reason for me disagreeing. Yes, I can use the excuse of me wanting to research the ancient book I found.

"I think I will disagree-"

"What!?"

Before Noir could continue, Victor shouted in shock.

All the adventurer at the table showed looks of suprise but didn't say a word.

Even though they look shocked, I think it worked. I am not hearing the bell! However I should be careful and explain my self. After a moment a silence Noir continued

"Uhhh, it is because I recently found an ancient notebook on my solo expedition.

"So... I think it would be better if I studied it more instead of heading out on a new expedition you know..."

At this moment the atmosphere of the bar instanly changed. The once lively room filled with laughter and singing, instantly went silent.

All of the people in there turned their heads at the same time towards Noir, staring at him with hazy eyes.

What the... Why are they suddenly like this.

"Anderson... does not... talk like... that..." The hazy eyed Victor spoke in a hoarse and detached manner.

Sh*t!

Suddenly, Noir felt a pericing pain in skull. The sound of the bell ringing appeared, it made Noir feel like the inside of his head was being struck by a hammer.

Gong! Gong! Gong!

At least this time the pain is still bearable... However this confirms it! The cause of bell is that the other people of this world finding out that I am not the body true owner.

It seems like I was found out as I did not use Anderson's direct manner of speach causing Victor, who knew Anderson the best, to spot that small flaw in my speech.

Dammit, this is not the time for thinking about this! I have to look for a chance to escape!

Trying to ignore the pain, Noir jerked up from his seat and flipped over the wooden table blocking Ryan, Peter and Noel line of slight.

At the same time, both the blonde Sharon and him pulled out their revolver at the same time.

However, while Noir hesitated, Sharon pulled the triger on her revolver.

"Bang!"

The bullet whoosed through the air and peirced Noir's shoulder, causing a sharp pain to shoot up his neck. The bullet would have periced through his heart if he hadn't dodge it at the last second.

Thanks to Anderson's profession as an adventurer, he was strong and agile. Now, Noir, who had possessed Anderson's body also instinctively possessed all these skills too!

Turning around, Noir ducked and weaved through all the other people, which had started to attempt to kill him too.

Coming out from behind the wooden table, Ryan, Peter and Noel took out their guns, firing along with Sharon into the sea of people hoping to hit Noir.

"Bang! Bang! Bang!"

Blood splattered everywhere, as random people got hit in the back, chest, legs and arms, pericing bloodly holes into them.

Those crazy bastards! Do they have no regard for the people around them? Noir tried to make his way towards the bar exit, but was faced with an extremly muscular man.

Caught off guard, Noir was punched in the gut by the man's haymaker, throwing Noir back into an open space past the sea of people.

Noir on the verge of vomiting, locked eyes with the blonde Sharon seeing her raise her revolver straight at his head.

You wont get me this time! Noir used his uninjured right arm to raise his own revolver shooting it at her hand, disarming her.

Twisting his body Noir staggered upwards as he suddenly felt a sharp pain radiating from his back.

Noir turned his head to see the cloudy yellow eyed boy, stabbing his pocket knife into Noir's back.

Sh*t! Sh*t! Sh*t!

Noir tried to twist free, but saw Victor, who picked up Sharon's revolver aiming straight at him.

"Bang!"

This time Noir couldn't react in time.

He stood at his spot, slowly becoming motionless as blood started to spill out from his chest.

"Dammit..."

Collapsing onto ground, Noir felt hot at first, but slowly became cold. In a pool of his own blood, he felt his vision blurring as the figures of the five adventurers infront of him started to turn hazy.

"Bang!"

Before Noir could mutter another word, Victor had once again fired his revolver.

This time at Noir's head.

Greyish-white brain chucks were splattered everywhere, as the remaining brain juices squirmed inside Noir's head.

After a minute had past, everyone in the bar started to become more lucid as their eyes regain its luster.

Victor who had fully regain his consiousness, looked down at the revolver in his hand and then looked back up at Anderson's corpse which had a mix of crimson red liquid and white brain matter around it.

"Anderson...

"What have I done...

"What have i done!"
