Chapter 9 - chapter 9

Blizz leaned against the doorframe of the sword shop, watching the scene unfold between Zoro and Tashigi. The two were already bickering, their voices rising as Tashigi lectured him about the history of swords, while Zoro remained unimpressed.

"Man, she's really giving him a hard time," Blizz thought, amused. He already knew how this would play out—Zoro would walk out with Sandai Kitetsu, the cursed blade, and Yubashiri, a fine-grade sword gifted by the shopkeeper. Seeing it happen in real time, though, was something else.

Then came the moment Blizz had been waiting for. Zoro picked up Sandai Kitetsu, admiring its balance.

Tashigi's eyes widened. "That's a cursed sword! You can't just—"

But Zoro, in his usual reckless fashion, grinned and tossed the sword into the air. The blade spun down toward his arm, the entire shop holding its breath.

Swish!

The sword barely missed, embedding itself into the wooden floor.

The shopkeeper gawked. "The sword accepted him…"

Blizz chuckled under his breath. Classic Zoro.

As Zoro collected his new blades and walked out, Blizz debated whether to step in and introduce himself. But now wasn't the time. He had other things to take care of.

Blizz found himself back in his small, still-damp apartment, standing in front of a mirror. His old clothes had served their purpose, but they weren't practical. Now, with his new outfit, he was finally starting to feel like a proper ninja.

He slipped on the black, tight-fitting shirt. The material was lightweight, flexible, and durable—perfect for movement. Over it, he fastened a sleeveless jacket with hidden compartments inside, ideal for holding kunai, shuriken, and sealing scrolls. The jacket's high collar gave him a slightly intimidating look, something he didn't mind.

Next came the cargo pants, reinforced at the knees for added protection. His utility belt, which held his weapons and storage scroll, fit snugly around his waist. The gloves had reinforced knuckles, good for both grip and added striking power in hand-to-hand combat.

Finally, he took out the headband he had bought. It was simple—black, with a metal plate that had yet to be engraved. He traced his fingers over the blank surface, wondering what symbol to carve into it.

Something that represents me…

After a moment of thought, he smirked. I'll figure it out later.

Blizz adjusted his outfit one last time before nodding at his reflection.

"Now this," he muttered, "this is the look of someone who means business."

Blizz stepped out onto the streets, his new gear making him feel more confident than ever. The air was thick with tension—he could feel it. Something big was about to happen.

He made his way toward the town square, where a crowd had gathered. At the center of it all stood Buggy the Clown, grinning wildly as he prepared to execute Luffy on the execution platform.

Blizz stopped in his tracks. He knew what came next. Dragon will be here soon.

He glanced up at the sky. The dark clouds rolling in weren't natural—he was sure of it. Whether Dragon was responsible for the storm or not, it didn't matter. What mattered was that the man himself would be here.

Maybe I should stick around for a bit.

Blizz moved to a better vantage point, watching closely as the events unfolded.

Blizz perched on the rooftop of a nearby building, the wind picking up around him as he watched the execution unfold. Buggy stood on the platform, holding a massive blade above his head, his voice ringing out over the crowd.

"Say your last words, Straw Hat!"

Luffy, as always, just grinned. "I'm gonna be King of the Pirates!"

Blizz smirked. That's Luffy for you. Even with a sword inches from his neck, he's still got that unshakable confidence.

Then, the storm truly hit. A powerful gust of wind howled through the square, sending hats and cloaks flying. The sky darkened, lightning flashing in the distance.

Buggy's sword came down—

CRACK!

A bolt of lightning struck the platform, splitting the wood apart. The force sent Buggy flying, and the crowd erupted into chaos. Luffy, unharmed, laughed as he made his escape.

Blizz exhaled, watching as figures in cloaks moved through the storm. Dragon's people are here.

Even though he had expected this, seeing it in person gave him chills. This is the man the World Government fears most. And he's right here.

Blizz debated whether to seek him out, but he knew there wasn't much point. Dragon wasn't the kind of person you just walked up to. And besides, Blizz had already made his choice.

His gaze shifted to Luffy, who was dashing toward the port, the Marines scrambling to stop him. Heh. Guess it's time for me to move, too.

Blizz moved swiftly through the rain-soaked streets of Loguetown, the downpour drumming against the rooftops. The storm had rolled in just as he'd expected, thick clouds swirling ominously above. He knew the timing of everything unfolding—the execution, the chaos, and the Straw Hats' desperate escape.

As he neared the docks, he spotted Nami and Usopp approaching their ship in the distance. Their movements were cautious, hurried. And then he saw why—standing near the Going Merry was Mohji, the Beast Tamer of Buggy's crew, alongside his massive lion, Ritchie.

Mohji was crouched low, struggling with a matchstick in the wind and rain. His frustration was obvious as each flicker of flame was snuffed out by the storm.

"Damn it! Light already!" he growled.

Ritchie let out a low, irritated growl of his own, shaking his wet mane. The lion was growing impatient, probably sensing the tension in the air.

From a distance, Usopp gritted his teeth, raising his slingshot. "That guy's trying to burn our ship!"

Nami frowned. "The rain's stopping him for now, but we can't take any chances."

Without hesitation, Usopp fired.

Thwip!

The projectile zipped through the air, striking Mohji square in the face.

"Ow! What the—?" Mohji reeled back, clutching his nose.

His momentary distraction was all it took. Ritchie's ears perked, his large, beastly eyes locking onto their direction. The massive lion let out a deep growl before charging straight at them.

Nami's eyes widened. "Crap! He saw us!"

Usopp nearly dropped his slingshot. "Ahh! Big cat! BIG CAT!!"

They turned to retreat, but Ritchie was fast—too fast. The massive lion was nearly upon them when—

Splash!

A sharp burst of water blasted into Ritchie's side, stopping the beast mid-charge. The lion let out a startled roar, shaking the liquid from its fur, before turning in the direction of the attack.

Blizz stepped forward from the shadows, lowering his hands from the Water Bullet Jutsu he had just launched. His eyes locked onto the beast with calculated calm.

"You guys need to work on your timing," he muttered toward Usopp and Nami.

They spun around, startled to see him there.

"Who the hell—?" Usopp started, but there was no time for introductions.

Ritchie, now enraged, snarled and lunged at Blizz.

Blizz's reaction was instant. He vanished from sight.

Not with speed alone—but with Body Flicker Jutsu.

A blur in the rain, he reappeared behind Ritchie in a flash. The lion skidded to a halt, confused, trying to locate him again.

Blizz capitalized on the moment. He sprang forward, his heel slamming down onto Ritchie's back with enough force to send the beast crashing to the ground.

Mohji, who had just recovered from Usopp's shot, froze in place. His lion—his prized Ritchie—had been taken down in seconds.

Nami and Usopp stood stunned.

"W-What the hell was that?!" Usopp blurted. "Did—did he just teleport?!"

Nami narrowed her eyes. "I don't know…."

Blizz straightened, adjusting his sleeves. "You can thank me later. You need to move—now, the marines are on their way "

Mohji, panicked, scrambled to his feet. "H-Hey! That's cheating! Ritchie, get up!"

The lion let out a dazed groan but didn't move, still stunned from the impact of Blizz's attack.

Mohji staggered back, eyes darting between his fallen lion and Blizz, who stood between him and the ship like a phantom in the rain. "W-who the hell are you?!"

Blizz didn't answer. Instead, he flicked his wrist, and in a quick, practiced motion, a kunai slipped into his hand. The dull gleam of metal under the storm's dim light was enough to make Mohji take a nervous step back.

Usopp, still in shock, whispered to Nami, "Okay, so either he's insanely fast, or he really did teleport. I'm leaning toward the second one!"

Nami frowned. "Maybe.. but we really need to get to the ship and think of that later"

Blizz took a step forward. "You're wasting your time here," he told Mohji, his tone calm but edged with warning. "You've lost. Walk away."

"Let's go" Usopp started running to the ship followed by nami.

Mohji clenched his fists. "Tch… You think I'm scared of you?! Ritchie, get—!"

Blizz vanished again.

Mohji barely had time to blink before a sudden force struck him in the gut. The wind was knocked from his lungs as Blizz reappeared right in front of him, his knee buried deep into Mohji's stomach.

Mohji's eyes bulged as he doubled over, gasping for breath.

Blizz didn't waste time. He grabbed Mohji's collar and flung him over his shoulder, sending him crashing into a stack of wooden crates near the dock.

The crates splintered on impact, and Mohji collapsed into the wreckage with a groan, unmoving.

A tense silence followed, only broken by the sound of rain pattering against the dock.

Usopp's jaw dropped. "Did he just—?"

Nami exhaled, shaking her head in disbelief. "That was fast."

Blizz exhaled, shaking off the tension as he stood over Mohji and Ritchie's unconscious forms. The rain was still falling hard, the storm rumbling above as the docks remained in chaos.

Nami adjusted her grip on her staff, glancing at the downed enemies before looking at Blizz. "Alright… Now that's over—who the hell are you?"

Usopp, still catching his breath, nodded. "Yeah, yeah! Why'd you help us? Not that I'm complaining, but people don't just take on guys like that for nothing!"

Blizz flicked the excess water off his sleeves and gave them both a look. "I was passing by, saw them trying to burn your ship, and figured it'd be a waste to let that happen."

Nami narrowed her eyes. "So what, you just helped us out of the kindness of your heart?"

Blizz let out a small, amused huff. "You could say that. But also…" He glanced back toward Loguetown, toward the mess he'd left behind—his cramped, damp apartment, the training gear scattered everywhere, the growing list of things he still didn't understand about his new life here.

"Let's just say I'm not too eager to go back to my place," he said with a shrug. "Place is a mess, barely got anything worth staying for. Figured tagging along might be more interesting than sitting in a leaky apartment watching a storm roll in."

Usopp blinked. "Wait… You helped us just because your house is messy?"

Blizz smirked. "Something like that."

Nami sighed, rubbing her temples. "Unbelievable. First Luffy, now this guy…"

Blizz leaned against a nearby post, arms crossed. "Look, if you don't want me here, I can find my own way out of this storm. But if you need another set of hands while your crew gets here, I don't mind sticking around."

Nami considered it. They were still preparing the ship, and having an extra fighter onboard—even temporarily—wouldn't hurt, especially with Marines patrolling the area.

She exhaled. "Fine. Just don't slow us down."

Blizz gave a small nod and walked toward the edge of the dock, watching the stormy sea. Usopp and Nami worked quickly, adjusting the sails and securing their supplies. The Going Merry rocked against the waves, but it was holding steady for now.

The minutes dragged on. Rain hammered against the wood, thunder rolling through the sky.

Usopp frowned. "They should be here by now…"

Nami bit her lip. "We can't wait much longer. The storm's getting worse, and if we stay docked, we're sitting ducks for the Marines."

Blizz glanced at her. "So? What's the plan?"

Nami hesitated—then made the call. "We're leaving. If they can't make it, they'll have to find another way to regroup."

Usopp looked panicked but nodded. "Y-yeah, better than sinking here!"

Blizz said nothing, just watched as they untied the ropes and prepared to depart. The Going Merry began drifting away from the dock, the wind carrying it forward as the rain intensified.

Just as they pulled away from the harbor—

"OI! YOU GUYS!!"

Blizz turned his head, squinting through the rain. In the distance, three figures ran toward the dock—Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji.

Blizz exhaled sharply. "Well. Timing could be better."

Luffy skidded to a stop at the edge of the dock, waving frantically. "WAIT FOR US!!!"

Nami shouted back, "We told you not to take so long!!"

Zoro groaned. "We got held up!"

Sanji, panting, flicked his wet hair back. "Great. Now what?"

Luffy didn't hesitate. He crouched down, stretching his arms out. "GOMU GOMU NO—ROCKET!!"

His arms shot forward, latching onto the ship's railing. Dragging Zoro and Sanji with him, he launched himself toward the deck, landing with a loud thud.

Blizz exhaled as he leaned against the railing of the Going Merry, watching the storm rage on. Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji had finally made it aboard after the chaos of the docks.

Usopp collapsed in relief. "You guys made it!"

Luffy grinned as he straightened up. "Of course we did!" Then his eyes landed on Blizz.

There was a brief pause as they stared at each other.

"…Who's this guy?" Luffy asked.

Blizz let out a small sigh. "Figures."

Nami crossed her arms. "He helped us. Took down Mohji and Ritchie before they could burn the ship."

Luffy's grin widened. "Ohhh! That's awesome!"

Zoro smirked. "Took out those two? Guess you're not bad."

Sanji exhaled, lighting a cigarette. "At least you're useful."

Nami took a deep breath and approached him. "Thanks for helping us. You saved our ship. That was… impressive."

Blizz gave a small, nonchalant shrug. "Eh, it was nothing. Just didn't want to see it burned down."

'Because he didn't want to see it burn down again, but as he stood there, a part of him wondered if he could even hold back his tears. It was as if the storm inside him was just as fierce as the one outside.'

Nami narrowed her eyes. "So, how did you do that? You moved so fast—it was like you disappeared."

Blizz shifted awkwardly, scratching the back of his head. "It's a little complicated. But yeah, I have a way of moving fast. I ate a Devil Fruit called Chaka Chakra no Mi."

"Chaka Chakra no Mi?" Usopp repeated. "What's that?"

Blizz shrugged. "It lets me control something like… my body's energy. Makes me faster, stronger, and helps with some tricks."

Nami raised an eyebrow. "Energy? Like, are you saying you can do stuff like teleporting or something?"

Blizz gave a small, dry laugh. "Not quite. I can move fast enough that it looks like I disappear, but it's just how my body's energy works. I guess you could say I use it like a ninja…"

Nami frowned. "Ninja? So, you've got some kind of… special training?"

Blizz smirked, eyes narrowing slightly. "Something like that."

Usopp's eyes practically sparkled. "A ninja?! You mean like in those stories? That's awesome!"

Luffy grinned widely. "A ninja! You can do cool tricks, right?!" He bounced on his feet, clearly excited.

Zoro raised an eyebrow. "So, you're telling me you can do all that because of a Devil Fruit? You sure don't look like a regular Devil Fruit user."

Blizz scratched his chin. "Guess not. I don't do the flashy stuff. It's not like those Logia fruits or whatever. It's more about making myself faster or stronger… moving in a way that looks like I'm doing something crazy."

Sanji tilted his head. "So, you're a Devil Fruit user, but you're not, like, some weird monster or something?"

Blizz chuckled. "I'm not some monster. I'm just good at moving fast. And, well, I do have some ninja moves."

Usopp leaned forward, practically vibrating with excitement. "Come on, show us! You've got to have some cool ninja tricks! Like… uh, the clones! Or something cool!"

Blizz sighed, rolling his shoulders before putting his hands together. "Alright, alright, you want to see a trick?"

Luffy bounced on his feet, barely able to sit still. "Yes, show us!!"

With a flick of his wrist and a few quick hand seals, Blizz slammed his hands on the ground.

"Ninja Art: Clone Jutsu!"

In a puff of smoke, three perfect clones of Blizz appeared, standing next to him, mimicking his every movement.

"Whoa!" Usopp's eyes were wide. "That's amazing!"

Luffy was practically bouncing. "YOU CAN DO THAT?! That's incredible!"

Zoro raised an eyebrow, his arms crossed. "Huh, so you really are a ninja. And the clones doesn't look solid though ."

Sanji exhaled slowly, lighting a cigarette. "Ninjas, huh? I've heard about them, but didn't think they were real."

Blizz's clones waved and grinned at the crew. He dismissed them with a wave of his hand, and they disappeared in puffs of smoke. He looked back at them, a little awkwardly.

"Yeah, that's just one of the basic moves. I don't really do a lot of flashy stuff."

Usopp was still in shock, practically fanboying. "That was insane! Do another one!"

Blizz raised an eyebrow. "You want another one? Alright…"

He quickly made a set of hand seals, and a burst of fire appeared in his palm.

"Fire Style: Fireball Jutsu!"

A small fireball shot up into the air, disappearing into the stormy sky above the ship.

Sanji whistled, impressed. "Now that's something. A ninja who can use fire? You sure you're not hiding a Devil Fruit ability?"

Zoro seemed to relax a little, nodding. "Alright, guess you're the real deal."

Nami, still curious, raised her hand. "But if you're really a ninja… what exactly are you doing here? What's your goal?"

Blizz hesitated for a moment, glancing at the ship's deck, then back at the crew. "Guess I just… don't have anywhere else to go. Figured I'd stick around for a while."

Luffy's eyes sparkled with excitement. "Well, then you're joining us! You've already helped us out, and you're a ninja?

Blizz shrugged, a small chuckle escaping him. 'We'll see.'

Luffy, completely ignoring Blizz's hesitation, grinned from ear to ear. "Alright!! You're with us now! Welcome to the crew!"

Blizz shook his head but couldn't help the small grin tugging at the corner of his lips. "Yeah, yeah, whatever."
