Chapter 9 - Vol. 1 Chapter 9 - Glass (1)

Year: 297 A.C.

Location: Winter-Fell, Training-Grounds

PovWulf

"I can actually create glass, the same sort that is used in building the glass-houses you already have built here at Winter-Fell…. I will need to do experiments, creating and testing different sands until I find the right kind or type, then I only need to find the right temperature or amount of flame to put to it in a forge…." I spoke to Lord Eddard, as I thought about what would be required to make sheets of glass, the right opacity and thickness for building glass-houses with….

Which would could possible provide the family with a substantial-amount of coin and wealth, among the many ideas I have already cooking up in my ol' noggin at this moment….

"If you could create glass with no cost, you could be come very wealthy very swiftly…." Lord Eddard replied, stopping obviously to think upon something very hard….

"Arya, how about you play for now, we will begin our training tomorrow when the sun rises on the morning of the morrow…. Lord Eddard, I wish to visit the local wise-woman they call Old-Nan, if that would be possible…." I told the wild and excited young-girl, who was currently kicking and punching whilst grunting and shouting having a hell of a good time to run and play, then asked Lord Stark if I could meet Old-Nan….

"That should not be a problem, Arya run along and check in with your mother, Wulf and I shall return soon…." Lord Eddard replied, before telling his daughter to visit her mother and inform her we would return shortly after our visit with Old-Nan….

After meeting Roderick Cassel, the Master-At-Arms of Winter-Fell, the trio trudged and walked through the town of Winter-Town, that surrounds the castle of Winter-Fell until they finally arrived at the hut or shack-like building, which served as the home of the eldest woman of Winter-Town Old-Nan, and her great-grandson Hodor….

Location: Old-Nan's Hut

"Wise-Mother, please receive my respects and gratitude, as I bow before you and kiss your elderly hands, I come seeking your guidance Wise-Mother…. The Night-King stirs from his icy-slumber in the far-North, winds chill as they travel carrying the cold of winter moving farther and father south…." Wulf, bowed before the petite and aged old woman, falling to his knees before her, a giant falling to his knees before an over a hundred-year old barely five-foot tall elderly woman, placing his forehead flat upon the soil of the hard-packed earthen-floor of Old-Nan's hut….

Speaking olden-tongue of the First-Men, unfortunately I have not ever learned much of the language, spoken or written-wise…. Wulf looked comical, bowing before the little old-lady, with his giant-self kissing her wrinkly old hands almost devoutly with utmost respect and admiration….

"You smell of earth and water, of flame and wind…. You smell of weirwoods and icy snows…. Let these old hands, feel your face my child, my eyes do not see as well as my hands now after all these summers and winters…." Old-Nan replied, in the jibberish-sounding to me words, as she places her old wrinkly and dry hands upon the young-appearing face of the man….

"Here Elder-Mother, I have received the blessings of the Old-Gods, let me heal your wise and well-seen eyes to see once again, as they did when you were still in your swifter of years…." Wulf spoke, in words I could not understand, that I am assuming make sense to Old-Nan, as she seemingly waited in anticipation, whilst Wulf starting doing what appeared to be witchcraft….

"By the gods! M'lord please step back!" I placed my hand upon my steel, alerting Lord Eddard and warning the young-looking monster of a man, I was willing to die to protect my liege-lord….

"Stay your hand Roderick, step back and be calm, just watch…." Lord Eddard said, ordering me to back-down, confusing me even as my body naturally moved as it instinctively obeyed my liege-lord's commands to yield my hostility to what is obviously a humongous threat….

"M'lord?" I asked, as I obeyed his commands, wondering what it happening right now….

"How does that feel Old-Nan? Do you feel young again?" Wulf asked the elderly-woman, who looked as if her skin was instantly-moisturized, almost as if she was forty-years younger, in common-tongue for the first time since we've entered Old-Nan's hut….

"Thank the Old-Gods, you are their apostle, aren't you?" Old-Nan asked Wulf, sounding very positive in her assumption….

"They prefer to call us messengers now, I am not a Demi-God or anything…. I am just a mortal man, a trained and blessed mortal-man but no Demi-God or any other kind of god-like being like that…." Wulf answered Old-Nan, saying something I am finding hard to believe, after watching him perform what I can only call a miracle, rejuvenating and revitalizing the elderly woman making her look more around my age, even though moments before she appeared to be well over twice my age….

"The Night-King is stirring, you say…. This does not bode well, for none north or south of the Great-Wall…." Old-Nan spoke, speaking of things I was not understanding….

"Hodor! Hodor!" Shouted a giant of a young-man, who stood even taller than Wulf by at the least three or four inches, whom could only shout his name for he had been touched in the head by the gods, from a early age….

"Allow me to heal your great-grandson as well, he seems to have been attacked by a most powerful and very distant from us Green-Seer, which is hard to believe how rare they are…." Wulf spoke, as he started his witchcraft-dance moves, causing magically-glowing spheres and tentacles of water to form out appearingly nothingness rushing and surrounding the giant, instantly calming and stilling the large young-man who was moments ago shouting his name, repeatedly as he entered the hut squatting to enter the entrance….

"There was not only mind-damage done to this poor-child, but even his soul was attacked…. His attacker left a back-door within Hodor's consciousness and spirit, I have dealt with it…. He shall not be returning, not with me around…. He will know I have been alerted to his existence, after destroying his connection and channel into Hodor's spirit and soul…." Wulf explained, as he healed Hodor whilst Hodor just calmly and almost sleepily-swayed around as he stood right inside the entranceway of the small-hut….

"Hodor! Hold door! Hold the door! I held the door, arghaha!" Hodor started shouting and holding his head in pain….

"Ugh! Grand-Nan! I'm finally better! Oh my gods! I can speak!" Hodor then started shouting whilst crying, after finally letting go of his head from the holding the door fits he was having mere moments before….
