Chapter 44 - Chapter 43: Who Wears the Same Pair of Underwear for a Week?!

Rumors spoke of a terrifying Dark Prison in the surface world, a place that struck fear into all who heard of it. Those detained there were all illegal immigrants.

Most met tragic ends; some were roasted alive, others were flayed.

The constant screams that leaked from within were enough to make even the bravest adults, children, and the elderly cry in terror.

Of course, the prison itself was horrifying.

But its warden? Even worse, a complete and utter devil.

And yet, could you imagine this devil appearing like an angel on the surface?

Bribery, forging documents, using prisoners as emergency rations… even wearing socks until they had holes before changing them. And wearing the same underwear for a whole week—

"BANG—!"

Something tore through the air, smashing through a wall.

"Gahpff—!!"

A strange scream came from outside, followed by a heavy crash—clearly, someone had been sent flying.

"Raphael, who the hell are you narrating to?! And who wears the same underwear for a week?!"

The owner of the furious voice was a petite blonde girl—Gabriel.

Her forehead veins bulged as she glared at the smirking, black-bellied angel, Raphael.

She had just thrown a clock at her, but Raphael had dodged, causing it to smash through the wall and hit some weakling demon outside.

"Ehhh~? But I didn't say it was you, Gab-chan~"

Raphael elongated her words, feigning surprise, while her smirk remained as infuriating as ever.

Gabriel's mouth twitched. She wanted to tear that smug face apart.

"Klang! Klunk!"

Strange noises came from nearby—a certain dragon girl, bound up like a dumpling and locked in a cage, was still struggling to break free.

Her fate would be decided by the authorities from the celestial realm. Depending on her impact on this world, an appropriate punishment would be issued.

Of course, Gabriel herself had the right to judge her, but all that paperwork? Ugh, way too much trouble.

Just then, the door creaked open, and someone was dragged inside.

Vignette and a dizzy, starry-eyed idiot demon entered, but Gabriel's attention only lingered on them for a second before shifting to the third person.

A dragon girl with golden hair and two horns, her slightly open eyes revealing heterochromatic irises—one green, the other dark yellow. Her delicate face bore a gentle smile.

But none of that mattered.

What truly caught Gabriel's attention was her outrageous, criminal-level bust size.

Even Raphael, another 'smiling assassin,' was momentarily stunned.

"Um, Gabriel, Raphael… This is Quetzalcoatl. You've probably heard of her." Vepar introduced.

Gabriel raised an eyebrow.

Quetzalcoatl, huh? A dragon who had been living in the human world for ages, one that was even recognized by the celestial realm as a mediator between the two worlds.

"Hi, you can all just call me Lucoa,"

Introducing herself as Lucoa, the dragon girl waved with a gentle smile toward the group. However, as she waved, something rather indecent swayed along with her, greatly disturbing Gabriel's dead-fish-like gaze.

"And this person behind me is Kobayashi, who wants to act as Tohru's guarantor in this world,"

Vignette continued the introductions as a slender individual with pink hair and eyes of the same color stepped forward from behind Lucoa. A man? No, definitely a woman. Gabriel could tell at first glance because they shared certain common traits.

"H-Hello."

The woman named Kobayashi spoke in a voice that sounded somewhat flat but also a little nervous.

Kobayashi—originally just an ordinary human and still an ordinary human, worked as an office lady at "Jigoku Meguri Trading North Senju Branch," specializing in Python programming.

Her life had been the dull, routine existence of a corporate employee until one fateful day when she got drunk, ran off aimlessly, and ended up encountering a dragon in the mountains—a dragon that had been wounded by a sword.

She helped remove the sword, vented her frustrations, and chatted with the dragon for a long time before inviting it to her home.

To her surprise, the dragon actually visited later. That was when she finally sobered up and realized that beneath the ordinary world she knew, there existed a truly fantastical one.

The dragon, who introduced herself as Tohru, decided to repay Kobayashi's kindness by transforming into a cute maid girl and moving in as her personal maid.

Though Kobayashi initially seemed reluctant to let Tohru stay, after a few days of living together, she realized that dragons weren't all that different.

Her daily life didn't change much, still the same normal world, with no sudden heroes or wizards appearing to slay dragons or anything of the sort.

At the same time, the loneliness of living alone gradually faded.

Then today, a woman claiming to be from the same otherworld as Tohru appeared—this woman was Lucoa. She informed Kobayashi that Tohru was in trouble.

Tohru had illegally traveled back and forth between worlds and nearly dragged a conflict into reality, especially after attracting the attention of an unknown Demon King. As a result, she had been arrested by this world's angels.

To rescue Tohru, Lucoa hoped that Kobayashi would act as her guarantor and come along.

At that moment, Kobayashi wavered. She hadn't expected Tohru to have caused such a huge mess—Demon Kings, heroes, and even angels?

You've got to be kidding me! She was just an ordinary human. If she got involved in Tohru's affairs, what kind of punishment would she face? Would she be sent straight to hell?

The thought alone was terrifying, so Kobayashi remained silent. Lucoa didn't force her, but as she was about to leave, Kobayashi hesitated and asked how Tohru had ended up in this situation. That was when Lucoa sighed, hesitated for a moment, and finally explained the reason.

It all started with last night's dinner, which Tohru had prepared for Kobayashi. Kobayashi had loved the meal, but the ingredients weren't from this world. Wanting to recreate the dish, Tohru had taken the risk of traveling back and forth between her homeland and this world.

However, while passing through the intermediary world known as Reverse Earth, she was discovered and attacked by a group of heroes.

Tohru, not wanting to cause trouble, had no choice but to flee. But somehow, amidst the chaos, a Demon King appeared and nearly invaded the real world.

Eventually, when she managed to return, an angel was waiting for her and captured her on the spot. In reality, if Tohru had gone all out, she could have escaped back to her world. However, she didn't want to destroy the world where Kobayashi lived. Because of that hesitation, she was caught.

After hearing Lucoa's explanation, how could Kobayashi remain indifferent?

She wasn't heartless—she had emotions. That stupid dragon was always causing her trouble!

Moreover, Lucoa also admitted that she bore significant responsibility.

The ingredients Tohru had used were actually leftovers from Lucoa's old supplies, she had given them to Tohru and even told her where to find more. If not for that, none of this would have happened.

Thus, Kobayashi followed Lucoa to the place where Tohru was being held.

There, she would meet the divine messengers of this world—the angels—something that made her incredibly nervous. After all, these were literal mythological beings!

But when she arrived at the so-called detention center, the angel's residence, she was utterly confused. She even started to suspect that this was all some elaborate prank.

That was until she witnessed something crash through a wall, sending a self-proclaimed Great Demon girl flying. The impact snapped a power pole in half before creating a crater in the middle of the road.

Only then did Kobayashi start to believe.

That kind of destructive power was on par with a tank shell. No human could do that.

Then, another girl traveling with the so-called Great Demon repaired the destruction, restoring everything and making the surrounding normal humans oblivious to the event. This deepened Kobayashi's belief even further.

Wait a minute—since when were angels and demons on such good terms? That girl named Vignette was comfortably helping herself to tea sets from the hidden corners of the room while preparing snacks.

Looking around, aside from Tohru, who was locked in a cage, there were two other girls in the room.

The blonde girl had a fierce gaze—probably a demon. Meanwhile, the white-haired girl exuded an incredibly gentle aura. She had to be an angel. No, she had to be an angel—only an angel could be that beautiful.

"Umm, Angel Gabriel-sama, p-please accept this small token of my appreciation."
