===============================
The abnormality in the otherworld [Yadetre] was detected by the Unified Divine Realm, but it didn't go unnoticed by others either—namely, the Evil God Realm.
As the name suggests, the Evil God Realm is a dimensional space where evil gods dwell. In truth, the abnormality in the otherworld [Yadetre] was part of a scheme originating from the Evil God Realm.
Information about the Twisted Staff had been known to the evil gods long before the Unified Divine Realm caught wind of it. So why didn't they seize the Twisted Staff immediately?
It's simple—one of the evil gods who understood the staff realized it wouldn't be so easy to obtain. Instead, they decided to let others test it first to see if acquiring the staff would bring about any dangerous consequences.
When a mere demon king from an A-rank world used the Twisted Staff to evolve into a god and subsequently fell into depravity as an evil god, many evil gods became desperate to rush into [Yadetre] to claim the Twisted Staff for themselves.
So why didn't they charge in? That was due to the deterrence posed by a particularly brutal and terrifying individual among them. The threat was so severe that the rest had to suppress their desires—disobedience would mean death.
Thus, the evil gods could only watch helplessly as the newly promoted S-rank demon king, empowered by the Twisted Staff, continued to expand and evolve, nearing the level of an SSS-class entity.
An SSS-class evil god? That deeply shook the other evil gods once again.
What kind of joke was this? There were only a handful of SSS-class evil gods in the entire Evil God Realm, and it had taken tremendous effort to reach that level.
Now, a demon king from a mere A-rank world like [Yadetre] was leaping straight to SSS-class?
That was unacceptable.
At that moment, the evil gods could no longer sit still. Regardless of the orders to hold back, they were ready to turn on each other and charge into that world.
Many might die, but maybe they wouldn't be among them. And if they were lucky enough to seize the Twisted Staff, who would they need to fear?
However, just before internal strife erupted among them, something unexpected happened on the observation screen—the demon king, who was on the verge of reaching SSS-class, was savagely killed by a spirit hidden within the Twisted Staff.
The entire process offered no chance for resistance. This scene caused all the evil gods to break out in cold sweat.
"Lord Merseys… That, that was an Undead, right?"
One of the evil gods humbly posed the question to the powerful being who had stopped them from acting rashly. The one they referred to as "Merseys" had quite the background.
Merseys was originally a god from the Unified Divine Realm—known as the God of Violence. For reasons unknown, Merseys clashed with the Unified Divine Realm and led a faction of gods in open war against the rest of the divine world.
In the end, Merseys lost.
Branded a war criminal for igniting the war that eventually unified the divine realms, she was sentenced by the Deep Divine Realm to the "Fallen Heaven Punishment."
As far as the Unified Divine Realm was concerned, Merseys should have perished.
However, many still believed she might be alive, having drifted to another world. Either way, she no longer had a physical form and was considered no real threat.
But who could have imagined—Merseys had survived. Not only that, she had connected with the Evil God Realm and brought most of its evil gods under her command.
She had been biding her time, waiting for the moment to strike back at the Unified Divine Realm and create a brand-new world order.
To achieve that great ambition, Merseys had also ordered her subordinates to seek out ancient relics—the Seven Deadly Sins Armaments, artifacts capable of overturning the entire Unified Divine Realm.
"Yes, that was an Undead—Arthas. Back when the Unified Divine Realm didn't even exist—when the original Deep Divine Realm and the mortal world were still one—he was the first and most ancient Dark King of Magic. A being so terrifying he shattered the laws that governed that era's world."
The voice that responded didn't sound like it belonged to an evil god—it was ethereal and pleasant to the ears. The speaker had long, narrow phoenix eyes, a high nose bridge, pale lips…
In short, she had a strikingly unexpected beauty.
Among the gathering of grotesque and twisted beings—some clad in armor like zombies, others shrouded in black robes leaking sinister energy, some with hairy or insect-like limbs—her humanoid appearance made her stand out dramatically.
No matter how one looked at it, it was hard to associate this beautiful woman with the title of the God of Violence.
"If—"
Seeing the evil gods struggling to understand, Merseys decided there was no point in elaborating. The past was irrelevant now.
No matter what, if she wanted to realize her goal, the most reliable way was to obtain the Deadly Sins Armaments left behind by that figure.
These weapons were forged from the very principles that once governed the world.
If she could collect them all and merge them into herself, Merseys would gain the power to twist reality at will and craft a world of her choosing—becoming the one, absolute, and unparalleled god.
Narrowing her eyes at the vanishing figure, she thought:
That thing should be gone for real…
It was likely just an empty vessel brought into being by the outpouring of the soul fragment he had left in the staff long ago.
After all, no one could possibly split their conscious soul and hide it inside a bunch of weapons, only to later be sealed by the gods.
That would be far too foolish.
Still, even if it was a mere shell, he must have left behind some kind of magic to deal with anyone who dared to touch his possessions. That's why both the demon king and the fallen goddess were killed.
That goddess had it rough too—not only had her appearance turned into that of a goblin, but her soul had likely been twisted into one as well.
Worst of all, as a divine being, her soul possessed immortality. Without a specialized soul-destroying weapon made to target gods, she couldn't be killed.
She was probably doomed to an endless reincarnation as a goblin.
But Melses felt no pity. Someone who could be swayed so easily was worthless.
"Lord Melses, he's trying to leave that world!!!"
Having dealt with the two undead demon kings who sought the Twisted Staff, the figure had opened a rift in the world and was about to escape. No one knew where he would end up. This made the evil gods anxious.
Outside the world, the void was vast and hard to navigate. There were unknown dimensional spaces where he could hide, and if that happened, it would be troublesome.
"Don't panic. Now is not the time to act!!!"
Taking action now would be the worst move. Melses was waiting—for the Unified Divine Realm to make their move. There was no way they would just let the Twisted Staff slip through their fingers.
So, the perfect time to strike would be the moment the Unified Divine Realm made their move to seize the staff.
There were only a few beings in the Unified Divine Realm capable of forcibly suppressing the Twisted Staff.
Some of them couldn't leave the realm freely, so it was certain they would send someone from the lower ranks—and that person would be none other than the God of Destruction, Valkyrie.
If possible, Melses would have loved to strike at that moment and kill Valkyrie as well. Unfortunately, that would be difficult. The priority now was seizing the Twisted Staff.
Here she comes!!!
Just as expected.
This was the moment. Melses revealed a smile so terrifying it sent chills through the evil gods.
Her body exuded a black aura, and the surrounding space distorted like a mirage.
Gradually, a world appeared—not the otherworld [Yadetre], but another S-rank otherworld she had prepared. A dead, desolate demon realm.
"Go… Now, Valkyrie—what will you choose to do?"
