"By the time we got there," Perenelle picked up, "the immortal was long dead. We managed to go through his late possessions, and through his written records, that took several years to translate, we managed to confirm that he'd become an immortal like we had. With phoenix tears, magical poison and soul magic. To be honest, we're not even certain he knew why he was immortal. Or hadn't made the connection. He honestly believed that he was touched by the gods, and his survival of all of these events were merely the effect rather than the cause."
Harry frowned thoughtfully turning that over in his head, he was not at all surprised by what they had said, and merely nodded in acceptance. He supposed that he could see shades of Hermione on that witch, even if his friend hadn't been the kind of person who'd have gone down that path.
"There is, or was another one in the mountains of the Asian continent. His name is Ayyapan. We sensed him flaming nearly 1700 years ago, and naturally went to investigate. We've become kind of the welcome mat I guess you could say. It took us nearly a decade of diligent searching to find him." Nicholas said with a wry smile.
Perenelle shook her head, and rolled her eyes. "That's because my husband discovered all sorts of interesting new plants, as well as several potioneers with recipes and techniques he just had to learn."
"There was alot of new things to learn! There were even people studying the beginnings of alchemy with approaches both foolish and innovative." Nicholas defended lightly before turning back to Harry.
Perenelle had also turned her head back to Harry."When my husband could muster up the willpower to return to our search, we eventually found Ayyapan where he and his three wives lived in the remote areas of the mountain. He was quite possibly one of the most physically powerful people I'd ever met"
Nicholas nodded, "Six and a half feet at least, and immensely strong. We learned that he didn't have a lot of skill with spells, or potions. His skills seemed to be physical. He was a warrior through and through, had more weapons in his house than your average armory. Seemed to know how to use most of them well, but was downright scary with a battle axe."
Perenelle nodded, "After we assured him we meant him no harm, we learned about him. According to Ayyapan, he and his three wives had lived ensconced in the mountains for four centuries and preferred to avoid people.. he was cold, but polite. He was guarded about his story but he did confess to the same three elements we experienced."
"We left an open invitation for him to visit us, however he expressed that he and his wives just wished to live their lives alone and in peace. He asked that we not return. Though one of his wives, Chatura, did give us a scrying bowl that she said could be used as a means for us to contact them, or them to contact us if it were a dire emergency. We helped set up some additional wards around their home, before leaving. However we have not heard anything since then. And we have respected their wishes to live alone." Nicholas nodded slightly.
"Another one was a woman by the name of Adhan." Nicholas said as he looked at Harry expectantly.
Harry's face was blank as he tried to think of any name that matched that before shaking his head. "I'm sorry that name doesn't ring any bells."
"That's because she's most famous for having sex." Perenelle interjected almost immediately a look of mild exasperation on her face. "She was infamous for a dalliance with an incubus. As far as I know they are still be having sex in some cave somewhere. You may not recognize the name of Adhan but I bet you recognize the name of her child."
When Harry lifted an eyebrow curiously, Nicholas chuckled softly and asked, "Does the name Merlin ring any bells?"
Harry blinked in shock, "The Merlin?"
Perenelle sighed softly, "Yes, that Merlin. Only before he became a legend, or an exclamation for anyone surprised by anything. Nice boy he was. Incrediblypowerful and downright gifted at magic. The poor boy was horrible at potions though. However he seemed to inherit the traits of his mother, though for all we know that could be because of the influx of incubus blood. We were never able to determine. We never saw him flame travel, but he had an astounding connection to magic and of course had several women who seem connected to him that drove him around the bend. Though again, his particular way with women could have been because of the combination of his Mother's blood as well as his incubus father's. He did live a very long life before he 'mysteriously disappeared.' Though I think he just wanted to get away and settle down, and live quietly."
"That boy had the worst wanderlust coupled with the largest amount of curiosity I ever met. Half the things he did with magic he did simply because he wondered if he could. And heaven help you if you told him something couldn't be done. He'd find a way to do it just to show you up." Nicholas snorted, and shook his head. "He also had something of a war between the two women he… bonded with. We think."
Pernelle shuddered dramatically, "Morgana and Nimue in the same country was a danger to the countryside, much less putting the two of them in the same room and of course Merlin's philandering ways just made the situation so much worse." Perenelle trailed off, shaking her head.
Harry shook his head slightly at the casual way they talked about the titans of history, and of the way they claimed to have known those titans. After a moment he frowned, "And who was the sixth one?"
At that question, a scowl crossed both of the Flamel's faces. Nicholas was the one who spoke after a moment, "The last person was named Herpo, he-"
"Herpo the Foul?" Harry interjected.
"You know of him?" Perenelle asked.
Harry nodded a dark scowl on his face. "He discovered the way to create a basilisk, he also was the first person known to make a Horcrux."
There was an intake of breath from both the Flamels at that, though Perenelle was the one to speak, and it seemed to be with far more caution than before, "You are very well informed."
