Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: The Test Subjects

What the heck? Are all young people these days so ridiculously powerful?

Loki was lost in deep thought.

The teenager standing before him gave a provocative smile. "Hey, old man, don't be so angry. Calm down a little."

His tone, right from the start, was incredibly irritating.

The teenager was wearing a tattered T-shirt and faded jeans, his silver hair very eye-catching.

Loki recalled that this teenager seemed to be one of HYDRA's two test subjects. Judging by the force with which he had just been thrown, it seemed he had already gained powers from the gem.

But, in the end, he was just a naive kid from the slums. Loki could easily manipulate him.

"How naive, to think that this would defeat me!"

Loki sneered. In the next second, he disappeared from where he was pinned to the wall. Then, Loki appeared in front of the scepter, grabbing it in his hand. The teenager was startled by Loki's sudden disappearance, and by the time he realized something was wrong and tried to use his powers, Loki had already touched his chest with the scepter.

The teenager felt a wave of dizziness, his eyes losing focus, and his swaying body looked like it was about to collapse.

"You are now my servant," Loki mesmerized the teenager, who was about to become his subordinate. "Immediately assist me in eliminating all HYDRA members and, by the way, destroy their base."

Loki had no intention of keeping these unruly and troublesome people around, and he couldn't let S.H.I.E.L.D. get their hands on the results of HYDRA's research on the gem.

The teenager nodded, ready to leave, but suddenly stopped. Loki was puzzled for a moment, then realized there was still one more test subject to deal with.

The red-haired girl had already appeared behind him, her hands reaching for his head.

In the blink of an eye, Loki found himself standing in a desolate wasteland. He was quite familiar with this place, as it was where Odin had exiled him. He had stayed here for a long time, until he was on the verge of collapsing, and finally met that man.

"The weak have no right to live, but you currently have some use. So, choose: submit or die."

The arrogant Loki knelt before that man and was given the mission to destroy Earth.

In an instant, the desolate scene twisted, and Loki, recovering from the illusion, stumbled back a few steps, panting. He found himself still standing in the secret room where the scepter was placed, only the scepter in his hand was now held by the red-haired girl opposite him.

The red-haired girl was HYDRA's other test subject, a twin of the silver-haired boy.

At this moment, the red-haired girl's hands were surrounded by a red glow. She warily watched Loki while crouching down to help her brother up.

"Pietro, are you okay? Wake up."

The teenager lying on the ground, called Pietro, twitched and, with his sister's support, sat up, clutching his head.

"Ugh, I feel a little nauseous. Wanda, be careful of that guy."

The power of the scepter was too great, leaving his head in a state of chaos. His already pale face looked even more haggard.

"I underestimated you two." Loki, having had the scepter snatched away again, wasn't flustered. As he spoke, he looked at Pietro, who was being supported by Wanda, his tone full of seduction. "You'll listen to me, won't you?"

Wanda glared at him, about to give Loki a wall-embedding treatment, when unexpectedly, Pietro beside her suddenly attacked, pouncing on her.

Caught off guard, Wanda was tackled to the ground by Pietro, the scepter flying out of her hand and into Loki's grasp.

"Well then, I look forward to you eliminating the enemy and meeting up with me. My servant."

With that, Loki laughed triumphantly and vanished.

Along the way, HYDRA agents tried to stop him, but he easily took them down.

S.H.I.E.L.D., having received news of the chaos at the HYDRA base, guessed that Loki had succeeded and quickly sent Steve and Stark to intervene.

"One wave of presumptuous rabble after another." Loki, surrounded by the two, spoke with an extremely arrogant tone, as if he had forgotten how he had been defeated by these two before.

"Loki, you dare to trick me! I won't let you get away with this!"

Thor also joined the battle. He swung his hammer at Loki, who dodged as expected. The huge impact shook the entire HYDRA base, threatening to bring it down.

"Where are Natasha and the others?" Steve asked Thor, who had just arrived.

"Hawkeye is dealing with the enemies ambushed at the side entrance. The main entrance has been breached by the big guy, and that woman is currently trying to calm him down."

Thor made it sound easy, but Natasha's pacification efforts were not going well. The Hulk didn't trust Natasha, especially since Banner was overly wary of her, causing the Hulk to feel the same way.

Of course, Thor wouldn't tell Steve that, to avoid distracting him. The priority was to capture Loki.

Thor's strength was undeniable, and with Steve and Stark's cooperation, Loki had no chance of escape.

But something unexpected happened. Loki, standing opposite them, sneered and suddenly disappeared.

"Damn it, it's a decoy! He tricked us!" Thor shouted.

Then, a group of HYDRA agents rushed in, surrounding them.

Meanwhile, Natasha was trying her best to calm the Hulk.

Although his sincere and alluring voice made the Hulk waver slightly, he became wary again when he saw Clint emerging from a corner, holding a weapon.

He roared and was about to charge at this pair of lovebirds...no, these two enemies who harbored ill intentions towards him.

"Hey, Clint, why did you come over here?" Natasha seemed displeased with Clint's sudden appearance, frowning.

He also seemed to realize that he had come at the wrong time, saying sorry, while simultaneously raising the bow and arrow in his hand towards the Hulk, who was rushing towards them.

This further enraged the Hulk.

Just as Natasha, in despair, gave up on pacifying him and was about to lure the Hulk to the HYDRA base, the Hulk, who had suddenly charged over, vanished into thin air.

Natasha: "..."

Clint: "..."

Natasha blinked in disbelief. "Did I just see things, or did I have a hallucination? Or did the Doctor suddenly disappear from in front of me?"

Clint, recovering from his stunned state, said, "It's not an illusion, Natasha. I saw it too."

At this moment, Steve's voice came through the radio.

"Natasha, Clint, are you alright? How's the pacification going?"

Natasha said with a wry smile, "Sorry, Captain, the Doctor disappeared right in front of me."

Steve: "???" "Now is not the time for jokes, Natasha."

Stark: "What? That multi-ton behemoth just vanished? Oh, God, that's even more outrageous than the Captain cursing."

Clint: "That's exactly what happened, Captain, although we're also surprised. By the way, what about Loki and the scepter?"

Steve, looking at the waves of HYDRA agents surging towards them, sighed.

"He escaped."

Loki had long anticipated that they would intercept him, so he used a decoy to lure them away, while also drawing the HYDRA agents in to restrain them.

This man, known as the God of Lies, had played both them and HYDRA.

"Notify Fury, have his people come and clean up the mess, and also find Dr. Banner. We'll immediately go look for Loki."

Steve gave the order, and Stark, who usually liked to contradict him, surprisingly didn't object.

After the Avengers left, the hidden twins emerged.

They weren't in good shape after their fight.

"What should we do now?" Pietro asked Wanda.

"I saw horrifying images in that man's mind. We have to get the scepter back, or the world will be destroyed by him."

Of course, they wouldn't hand the scepter over to S.H.I.E.L.D. either. They would take it and complete HYDRA's remaining experiments.

Meanwhile, the Hulk, having been transported to the island, cowered like a mouse seeing a cat as soon as he saw Saiki Kusuo.

He soon recovered. He sat naked on a pile of rocks, wearing only a pair of boxers, and reached out to take the clothes Saiki Kusuo handed him.

Saiki Kusuo was actually quite curious about these boxers that wouldn't be damaged no matter how big or small he became. However, despite his intense curiosity, he maintained his cool persona, stubbornly suppressing his doubts.

(Loki escaped with the scepter.)

Saiki Kusuo informed Banner of the situation. Banner frowned and cursed.

"What are the Avengers doing? A bunch of idiots, they can't even catch a weak god who only plays petty tricks."

Banner was so angry he even cursed himself, forgetting that he had previously been moved by Steve's appeals to reason and emotion and had agreed to join the Avengers.

Although Saiki Kusuo thought his joining was due to falling for the honey trap.

"Speaking of which, why didn't you stop Loki, Kusuo?" After venting about the Avengers, Banner turned his attention to Saiki Kusuo.

(Because I sensed your emotions were unstable, so I threw you onto the island first. And I had to deal with Peter, who kept pestering me about your whereabouts. You know how persistent that kid can be sometimes, and his intuition is surprisingly sharp; simple lies won't fool him.) Saiki Kusuo used Peter as an excuse for his oversight, but the real reason he hadn't been able to stop Loki in time was that he had discovered the twins while monitoring.

At that time, the girl named Wanda, in order to make her brother regain consciousness, used the chaos power granted by the gem. This power inexplicably affected Saiki Kusuo's psychic abilities, causing him to lose his surveillance of Loki.

Although he quickly adjusted and suppressed the chaos power affecting him, the young girl still left a deep impression on him.

(I discovered a pair of twins at the HYDRA base. They seem to be HYDRA's test subjects, empowered by the scepter. S.H.I.E.L.D. should have information on them. Remind them; the twins' goal is also the scepter. Following them might make it easier to find Loki.)

But actually, there was no need to search. Loki had no intention of hiding.

He came to the top of Stark Tower, intending to watch the massacre of all of New York. Unexpectedly, he ran into Stark. Stark, with his sharp tongue, provoked Loki with just a few words.

Just then, Loki's army arrived.

Stark, donning his Iron Man suit, looked at the black hole ripped open in the sky and prepared for battle.

However, after waiting for a long time, Loki's army didn't jump out of the black hole. Just as Loki was puzzled, he suddenly realized the black hole had disappeared.
