Chapter 4 -  ScrollHaven

"Welcome to Scrollhaven, Ueta." Daeyr affirms him

"Thank you Daeyr." Souta sighs in relief

Souta heads over to an elegant bookshelf and grabs a historical looking book.

"Welp i guess this is the best way to figure out where I am at the moment" he thinks

-he opens it.

His fathers gift reacts violently

Souta takes notice and covers the ring with his other hand so as to not draw any attention to himself.

Once the ring stopped reacting he looks over his shoulder to see if Daeyr noticed

She didn't.

Letting out a sigh of relief he turns his attention back to the book Daeyr recommended him

"Wait what?!" The words once unknown to him have now become slightly discernable making him able to read most of the information on the pages.

It reads-

There were once 8 Goddesses and Gods alike…

Souta continues reading -

The Oracle Goddess Yokuto - She is recalled as the ultimate witness present for everything and yet present in nothing.

The Assassin God Kagerotsume - He watches from the unseen places. He is the god of assassins, assigning targets for his followers to execute.

Blood Hunter God Shinraku - He marks, he hunts, he wins.

"How Vague.." Souta remarks

Paladin God Shinsei - A god connected with virtue and divinity.

"This must be the representative god of this land" he affirms himself

Souta reads further

A paladin never breaks their oath- it is the source of their power and virtue, a vow to always be better.

Necromancer Goddess Shizukame - The goddess of death's quiet embrace, governing over the spirits lost to time.

Sharpshooter God Tamaoki - An existence that cares only for one's precision and mastering of the unerring path of the bullet.

Creator Goddess Hikarumi - A being that values the craft over all else working to create anything that suits their needs whether it be potions, armor or an unbreakable fortress.

Elementalist God Tsuchigami - He possesses limitless potency when it comes to connections with earth itself, almost embodying the planet's will, he urges his followers to connect better with mother nature.

"Wow- and to think that these were beings that used to roam this world i've been put in…"

Souta looks further and finds a hidden description.

'the existence' Kazeyami  - A mischievous trickster known for playing pranks on mortals and gods alike. Those who serve him kill not just for chaos, but for purpose.

Souta takes interest in this final surmization of something that was better to be left out..

coming from the fact that you had to have a keen eye to spot out the limited 'biography'..

"Why is Kazeyami different?" He ponders becoming more perplexed

He looks on to read further about this 'existence' and turns the page..

Souta glances at the book and notices the spine of the book had small tandems of paper left almost like pages have been ripped out.

Pattering slowly becomes more audible approaching up behind Souta.- He rushes and shuts the book causing a small thump to be heard.

"Mr. Ueta…" Daeyr remarks rather sternly

"Yes..?-" He replies annoyed

"You've been here for quite awhile..- it's been 4 hours sir." Daeyr reminds Souta

He looks to his right, a crystal window frames the sky.. He notes that it has changed from its original baby blue shade to a horizon painted by a gradient of ocher and magenta. Souta relishes in this view until suddenly clicking back to his senses and realizes he has to make it back to the inn to rest up for tomorrow.

"Hey! I know this is sudden.. But can I borrow this for a few? I'll make sure to return it.. I'm really into these kinds of things! yknow..-" Souta spouts, trying to sway Daeyr into letting him keep it.

"Fine.. but you have to return it to me first thing two mornings from now.. -got that?" Daeyr suggests

"Not a problem at all!" Souta withdraws himself, exiting his seat and heading toward the exit.

"Have a good night dear.." Daeyr chuckles.

"You too!" Souta replies while exiting the Library.

"I can't wait to learn more about this world!" He exclaims to himself

He walks the same path that led him from the inn to the library

Within 15 minutes he gets back to the entrance of the inn and opens the door..-

The sounds of vibrancy and pleasant discord envelopes his hearing and vision. Souta refreshes his thoughts, thinking back to a time where he was kept up in a shabby apartment leading to his death at the hands of thugs, he looks fourth no longer held back by the requiem of his old world.. but instead surrounded by others of varying pasts and futures.

He walks in and heads to a wooden board holding his room's silver key and walks left bound back toward his room to continue reading the book he borrowed.

He enters-

The Amber and Crimson light from the fireplace greet him and welcome his comfort.

He sits down on his couch and opens the book

"Well since I've already read about the gods I might as well skip to something else" Souta reflects

He turns a couple pages more than what he left off on.

The page reads - Beginners guide to Spirit ranking and Artifacts!

His eyes widen as this is information that could greatly benefit him in the future. He continues reading but this time with an increased vigor for knowledge.

Spirit level - to increase your spirit level you must embody the chosen gods will enough and after a certain point you will be given a divine mission to fulfill to then level up

'Spirit level what's that?, perhaps it's similar to ones level in a game' he thinks to himself before looking further down the page

[Level 0–9]

0 - one who has just assimilated with their patron deity becoming a spirited

'Assimilated with their patron deity, perhaps that's what the prefix to the deities names is like the necromancer goddess or the paladin goddess'

1-3 - a beginner in the spiritual arts only slightly stronger than a normal human

with 1 or no magical abilities other than their connection to their patron deity and is still seen as a spirited in the eyes of the deities

'This must be after one completes a divine mission, assuming that the separation between 0 and 1 is different from the separation of 1 and 2 meaning that one won't always have to complete a divine mission to level up' he concludes.

4-5 - a normal user of spiritual arts has received at least 1 magical ability to use and is beyond the realm of normal human strength and is now seen by the deities as a spirit

'Seems I was at least on the right track with my previous thinking as at levels 4 and 5 you get a new title meaning that to increase the levels between you must have to … what was it again.. Embody the deities will. Whatever that means' Souta thinks as he digests the text.

6-7 - has proficient understanding of the spiritual arts [—-- ---- – --] far beyond normal humans [c--n p–rc—ve ------- —------- ] seen by the deities as a governed spirit

As Souta looks further the text begins to become jumbled and blurry almost as if it is refusing to be read by him "what the hell…" he mutters to himself as he reads what he can. 'I can kinda read this part that seems to be about perception or something.. It seems like I can't read any new information other than what I already know from the first few descriptions.'

8 - [—------------ ------------ ---------------- ------- ---- --------- ------------------] seen by the deities as a wandering spirit

9 - [—---- ------ ------- -------- ----------------- ----------- ---------- ------------ ----- ------- ---------- -----]

'Seems like I won't learn anything about level 9 and most of 8 is unreadable too. I wonder what the difference between one's level and what their "title" is? perhaps ones spirit level is a concept made up by people while the titles are the system that the deities use to rank us'

"It just doesn't make sense" Souta groans rubbing his eyes

He flips to the next page that exhibits a new list..

Souta reads the heading… "Artifacts?!"

He glances further down the page

Artifacts ranks C,B,A,S,Z

C- object with little amounts of spiritual power

B- objects with moderate amounts of spiritual power

A- objects with great amounts of spiritual power

'Spiritual power, What's that?' he wonders

S- objects with enough spiritual power to slightly bend the laws of reality can cause some lashback when used

Souta stares in shock as he looks at the description for an artifact of the S rank 'bend the laws of reality, isn't that a little bit much' he thinks

Z- Gifts from the deities with the power to bend reality but often come at a high price

'What on earth is this' Souta thinks as he reads the description of Z rank artifacts 'isn't that too overpowered with power like that who needs the powers of the deities'

As he flips the page he notices a list of artifacts that are all categorized as S rank though they only possess a picture and name he counts them realizing that there are 15 in total 'does this mean that only 15 S rank artifacts are known to exist, those must cost a fortune' he thinks feeling more than a little shocked.

However nothing could have prepared him for the next page as it had a list of Z rank artifacts.
