Chapter 43
A monstrous screech split the air as a towering, grotesque creature emerged to view . It was an abomination—a half-man, half-scorpion nightmare with chitinous black armor gleaming under the eerie light. Its humanoid upper body was twisted and muscular, a single jagged horn protruding from its forehead, while its lower half was that of a massive scorpion, complete with a venomous tail dripping with a toxic green substance. Its colossal pincers snapped menacingly, their shape disturbingly resembling a clenched anus.
The sight of the horrifying beast sent shivers through the group.
"This... this is bad," Kaito stammered, his face pale. "Why must that Volt choose this door out of the three. He said gulping loudly.
But there was no time for hesitation.
Lucas, the battle maniac, took the initiative, his eyes gleaming with bloodlust. "No point standing around! We crush it first and ask questions never!" he roared, launching himself at the beast. He attack using the Claw ripper spell which cut through the air with deadly precision, aimed right at the creature's massive pincer.
CLANG!
The sound echoed like steel clashing against steel. Lucas landed several meters away, staring in shock. His most powerful attack hadn't even left a scratch! The scorpion beast, however, was affected—it was extremely furious it's eyes reddened.
It let out a deafening screech before retaliating. Its pincer shot forward like a battering ram, slamming into Lucas's torso. The impact sent him flying backward, crashing into the ground with enough force to crack the stone beneath him. Blood trickled from the corner of his mouth as he coughed, his vision briefly blurring.
"Lucas!" Blaze, Nephis, Akira, and Kaito rushed over, checking on him.
Lucas groaned and sat up, wiping his bloody mouth. "Tch. Just a minor setback." He said trying to sound casual.
"That was minor?" Kaito asked, Irritated. "Bro, you just flew like a ragdoll!"
But there was no time to dwell on it. Kaito, ever the strategist (or so he liked to think), had a perfect solution.
"Guys, this thing is half-human, half-beast, right? Maybe it has a human brain!" he suggested thoughtfully.
Before anyone could even process his words , Kaito boldly stepped forward, clearing his throat. "Ahem! Mr. Scorpion Beast, sir! We're not here to bother you! We just want to explore peacefully but it seems you are not happy about that, so let just go in peace not in pieces!" He grinned, thinking the problem is solved.
The beast blinked once. Then twice.
Then it lunged at Kaito with its massive pincer.
"Oops! Never mind, it doesn't have a human brain!" Kaito yelped as he barely dodged the Beast massive pincer, rolling back to his team. "Scratch the negotiation plan! "
Time for the plan B: Kill it
Kaito shouted.
With the battle now inevitable, Nephis wasted no time. The white cat on her shoulder jump down and his size started to increase, after its transformation the white cat is now a huge White tiger, Nephis then activated her three elements spells riding on the white tiger.
Akira followed up, weaving complex water spells with swift hand movements. "Let's see how you handle a flood!" She unleashed a massive wave that crashed into the creature, but as the water receded, their hearts sank—the beast remained uninjured still very angry.
Blaze gritted his teeth. "Fine. Let's do this." His arms crackled with lightning as he summoned his Lightning Feral Strike. He leaped into the air, fist igniting into a lightning sparks before he brought it crashing down. "Take this!" He shouted
Lucas, now a little better from before, rejoined the battle with a feral grin. "Alright, round two!" He activated Claw Ripper, Beast lunge and his other beast spell at the beast.
Kaito, despite his earlier failed negotiation attempt, wasn't one to sit back. Summoning his Earth boulder, he hurled them with pinpoint accuracy, aiming for the beast's joints.
The battlefield was a chaotic symphony of fire, lightning, water, and raw physical might. The group launched attack after attack, their abilities colliding with the beast in a frenzy display of power.
And then— boom boom!
Both sides clashed in a devastating impact, sending shockwaves rippling through the surroundings.
Elsewhere at the same building.
Volt sprinted through the abandoned corridors of the ruined structures heading to the spot the group as pass before. His yellow lightning crackled around him as he skidded to a halt in front of three way door from before .
"I can sense it… Something dangerous is lurking here," he muttered looking at the left doorways . I need to take care of it or else everyone will be in danger.
But then he smirked. "Blaze and the others should be able to handle that scorpion freak.
Then –
Will they?" He thought unsure for a moment before shrugging. "Eh, Blaze will be fine. He's my friend after all."
With that, Volt dashed forward into the dark doorway on the left.
Yellow lightning sparks emitting in the darkness.
Meanwhile on the battle field:
The battle had taken a heavy toll. Blaze, Lucas, Nephis, Akira, and even the White Tiger—now reverted back into the white cat—were all heavily wounded. Kaito, though better off than the rest, was still panting from exhaustion. Some part of his body is bruised .
But the beast… was still standing his crazy eyes gleaming with murderous intent.
Although it bore injuries, it was far from defeated. And worse—it had now identified the least wounded target.
Kaito who is now trembling with fear.
The scorpion beast locked its cold, predatory eyes onto him. Then, its venomous tail arched back, the toxic tip gleaming under the light.
Kaito froze. His heartbeat stopped due to fear.
"Oh… crap." He shouted
The tail launched forward.
Kaito gulped. I'm about to die.
"Guys, Help " he screamed, his legs refusing to move.
Would this be the end for Kaito? Would their efforts have been for nothing?
