Chapter 122 - Chapter 124: Kotori and Kiyora’s Assignment

"I'm Kotori, and this is Kiyora. We've married the man in question, Hisui Umino-san, so we're requesting to become his exclusive guards as well."

After completing the paperwork at the government office, I couldn't hold back any longer and called the office to inform them.

"Pfft—"

I heard my boss burst out laughing on the other end.

"W-Wait a second…"

She coughed violently.

"Are you alright? Be careful not to choke—you don't want aspiration pneumonia or something. Please take care of yourself, okay?"

I said, while gauging his reaction.

"Whose fault do you think this is…"

inhale, exhale…

Still muttering complaints while trying to catch his breath.

"…Well, congrats, I guess. This isn't fraud or embezzlement or anything shady, right?"

"No. We did meet through work, but there's nothing suspicious about it."

I made sure to report proudly. It's true we wouldn't have met if not for this job, but I didn't use work as leverage or force anything.

His family—the Umino—already been informed and given their blessing. As for me and Kiyora, while we do technically have relatives, we've never met them. We're essentially alone in the world.

That's also why we have so much freedom.

Since we're both qualified as security officers, switching to a dual-role position like this was no problem.

"Alright then. I'll believe you. Just make sure to submit a formal report later, along with a copy of the marriage certificate and the official application."

Since this position involves a man, it's a bit of a coveted post. Even if someone leaves, there's always someone waiting to step in. It's a system that ensures stability.

"Yes, thank you very much!"

I bowed deeply, still holding the phone.

The number of security officers assigned increases as the male partner's "semen rank" rises—starting at three for a B rank. We're not sure if his rank will go higher, but rumors of an A+ do exist. If that happens, more transfers like this may be possible.

During my time off, I'd read through the employment regulations obsessively and noticed that marrying the subject gave us the right to become exclusive guards. So I took a leap of faith—and surprisingly, it was approved without a hitch.

"How did it go?"

Kiyora asked anxiously.

"For now, it looks like it's approved. We still need to fill out the forms, but it seems we'll be working together for a while longer."

That last part was addressed to Misago-san, the senior wife at the inn.

"Got it. Whether you live on-site or off, we'll work out the rent and other details later, okay?"

"Yes…"

Since we're security officers, we should qualify for subsidies or housing assistance. Hopefully it won't be too expensive.

Well then—heck yeah! Woohoo!

Clap!

After exchanging a silent high-five with Kiyora, we both pounced on Hachikuma to get her to join in the celebration.

She gave us a mildly exasperated look but played along.

Clap!

Both of us slapped our hands against her raised palm.

Author's note :

Kotori is the type who's got a knack for navigating things smoothly.

The way she throws a victory punch and does a "clap" gesture—she's kind of boyish in that way.

It might be a stereotype, but I imagine girls usually squeal and jump all sparkly-like when they celebrate.
