As Yang Fan decimated the horde of zombies with swift, precise strikes, Yue glanced at him in awe.
"He's really strong," she muttered.
"Um..." Mu Yi added, still watching in shock.
But their moment of admiration was abruptly interrupted by a guttural roar.
"ARGH!"
They turned just in time to see a zombie stumble toward them, only to be smashed against the wall by a yellow sports car.
Their eyes widened in disbelief.
The car screeched to a halt, and a man stepped out, leaning casually against the vehicle. He had a confident smile plastered on his face, with a rose clamped between his teeth.
"Yan Yue, despite the circumstances, we meet again. It must be fate."
It was Mu Tian, the heir to the Mu family, and Yue's persistent suitor. He flicked his hair back and waved at them. "With me here, these zombies won't stand a chance! Come on, hop in, ladies! I'll escort you out of this dreadful place."
Yue scowled at him. "Mu Tian, you're a real piece of shit."
Mu Yi thought, 'Why is he here?'
Suddenly, a zombie lurched behind Yue, snarling, ready to bite her neck.
"Watch out!"
Before she could react, Yang Fan sliced through the creature's neck, saving her.
"What are you guys chatting about? Follow me!" he shouted, glancing back at them.
Yue felt her heart race but she calmed down and introduced the guy. "Someone annoyingjust arrived. He's called 'Prince Mu' at our school."
Yang Fan turned slightly, but then dismissed him, focusing back on the fight.
Mu Tian strutted over to Yang Fan, a cocky grin on his face. "Hey, kid! You've got some good skills. I'm looking for a bodyguard. Why don't you come with me? I've got tons of money."
Yang Fan scoffed. "Heh…"
"What? You don't believe me?" Mu Tian said, pulling out a check. "Here, take this. You'll get tons of money from it. And if you follow me, you'll be rolling in cash!"
Yang Fan thought, 'This rich heir just reminded me… I'll need money for weapons, food, and other essentials in the future…'
Before he could respond, more zombies appeared, this time rushing toward Mu Yi.
"BLEEEGH!"
"AH!"
Mu Yi backed away, fear in her eyes, and Yang Fan quickly slashed through the oncoming zombies. "The number of zombies is increasing. Looks like we've caught too much attention. We need to get away from them. Follow me! Quickly!"
Mu Tian called after them, "Hey, you bastard! You didn't even bother looking at me! Don't you know who I am? I'm the heir of the Mu family!"
"Hey! Yan Yue, wait for me!"
As they ran, zombies continued to pour toward Yang Fan and the girls.
Mu Tian yelled, "Fuck! Even these Zombies are ignoring me? Are you looking down on me? I'll have you know I can take on at least ten of you at once!"
Yang Fan and the girls rushed toward a patch of red flowers, but as they did, they found themselves surrounded.
"BLEEGH!" "Ugh!" "EH!"
Yang Fan's expression grew serious. 'How… how can this be?'
"The flower in front of us… it's definitely not normal…" Mu Yi said, trembling.
Yang Fan focused. "It's a second-tier mutant."
'There's already a mutated monster? And it's evolving faster than me?!'
Mu Yi gasped. "Plants… can plants be zombies too?"
As if in response, the mutant plant started throwing black pollen into the air. The zombies lunged for the seeds, fighting each other to get a taste.
"Watch out! This second-tier plant-zombie can control other first-tier zombies! They'll attack in unison!" Yang Fan yelled, feeling the urgency rise.
"What should we do?! More and more zombies are coming!" one of the girls shouted.
"Stay behind me! The zombies here are pretty slow! I'll make a path!" Yang Fan commanded, his voice steady and strong.
Suddenly, a zombie leaped at Mu Yi.
"AH!" she screamed.
But before it could reach her, Yue kicked the zombie in the face. "Mu Yi, stay between us! I'll handle the ones attacking from behind!"
Yang Fan couldn't help but admire their teamwork. 'That's a member of Blood Rose for you… fighting zombies with nothing but her bare hands.'
Then, out of nowhere, Mu Tian's car came rushing back through the zombies.
"Never fear, Yan Yue! I shall save you!" he shouted, revving the engine.
He drove through the horde, yelling, "Trashy zombies, get out of my way!"
But after knocking over several, the car began to sputter and come to a halt.
"Shit!"
Mu Tian jumped out and dashed into a nearby building, leaving the door open behind him.
"Here's our chance!" Yang Fan shouted, thinking quickly. "You two get to the school building and hide! Secure the entrance!"
Both girls nodded and ran toward the building.
As they reached the entrance, they saw Mu Tian entering first, quickly followed by the girls. But as Mu Tian turned, he slammed the door behind him, leaving them outside.
"Hey! Mu Tian, what are you doing?" Yue shouted, banging on the glass door.
"Mu Tian!! Open the door!"
"Open the door? Heh heh heh! Gladly, babe! As long as you say you'll become mine," he said with a smug grin.
