Cherreads

Chapter 1 - Prolouge - Fate’s First Rule: The Girl in My Dreams.

"You Foolish!"

"I found you again in this life."

A girl—

She stood before him, her presence both familiar and mysterious. Her face was blurred, yet his heart ached as if he had known her forever.

But—

The boy stood beneath the shade of a cherry blossom tree as the gentle wind brushed against him. It whispered—

"Who are you?"

The way she turned to him, the warmth in the air—her voice...

A soft whisper echoed through the silence—

"FUCK YOU!"

"You're so annoying."

A breeze rustled through the cherry blossoms. The world around him felt weightless.

He reacted—

"GUH?! What?"

In the midst of it all, She stood there—and her voice echoed again, soft but teasing—

"Huh? Don't worry."

"I didn't mean you. I meant this annoying mosquito, see?"

The boy stood frozen, confused.

His heart raced as he asked—

"Why can't I see your face? Who are you?"

Petals drifted like whispers in the moonlit air.

The wind brushed gently around them. And then, she whispered again—

"You foolish."

"The reason is… I found you."

"You haven't found me yet."

"Find me, and you'll see who I am."

"Find me."

Just as he was about to respond—

BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!

The sharp ring of the alarm shattered the silence.

He jolted awake, tangled in his sheets like a fish caught in a net.

His hand smacked the alarm clock as he groaned,

"Huh… again?!"

Sunlight streamed through the curtains, and a cool breeze flowed in through the open window.

He rubbed his face, still suspended between dream and reality.

"So… that was just a dream, huh?"

"Who is she?"

"She showed up in my dreams for the 69th time…"

He blinked.

"Hun… sixty-nine? Does that feel—"

He shook the thought off, brushing his messy hair back.

Then he glanced at the time.

And froze.

7:43 AM.

His eyes widened.

His blood turned to ice.

"It's 7:45 AM!!"

"TODAY'S THE FIRST DAY OF THE NEW SCHOOL!!!"

"I'M GONNA BE LATE ON THE FIRST DAY!!!"

By the time he burst through the school gates, his heart was pounding and his lungs were screaming for mercy.

Students were already in class. The halls echoed with silence.

Just as he reached the door of his classroom—

SLIDE.

It opened.

The teacher stood there, arms crossed, eyes sharp.

The look on his face said it all: "Seriously?"

"You must be the new transfer student, right?" the teacher said, raising an eyebrow.

"Y-Yes, sir," he managed, still breathless.

"Late on your first day? What an entry." The teacher sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose.

"Fine. I'm Jiro Yinglan."

He adjusted his glasses and turned to face the class.

"Alright, we have a new student today. Introduce yourself."

The boy took a deep breath and straightened up.

He placed a hand over his chest, closed his eyes for a second—then opened them with calm fire.

"I am Reikou Shion."

"There are only three rules I live by."

The room fell silent.

Some students leaned in, intrigued. Others exchanged curious glances.

Reikou raised one finger.

"Rule one: Food is life."

"Without food, life is meaningless. If you eat, you're happy. If you're happy, you're strong."

A few murmurs spread. Some students nodded, almost inspired.

Someone whispered, "Respect."

He raised a second finger.

"Rule two: Sleep is necessary."

"I take my sleep seriously. If you wake me up without a valid reason…"

He paused—his tone colder now.

"I will consider you my greatest enemy. No exceptions."

Laughter broke out in small waves. A few students covered their mouths, others chuckled freely.

Even Mr. Yinglan sighed, rubbing his temples.

"Alright, that's enough."

But Reikou raised a third finger, ignoring him—his voice dipping into a deeper, dramatic tone.

"Rule three: I believe in fate."

The room froze.

He, scanning the class, his gaze calm but intense Like he was searching for something.

Then—

Laughter erupted.

The teacher sighed, clearly exhausted already.

"Just take the window seat, and don't make me regret accepting you into this class!"

Reikou nodded, walking to his seat, still catching his breath from earlier.

But the moment he sat down, his eyes drifted to the girl beside him—

And the world seemed to freeze.

It was her.

The girl from his dream.

His breath caught. Time itself slowed as his gaze locked onto her face—

No longer blurred. No longer distant.

Her dark, silky hair framed her features with quiet elegance.

Her emerald eyes—sharp, calm, unreadable—held a silent intensity.

She wasn't beautiful in the way stories or poems often describe.

No… she was a different kind of beautiful—

The kind that made his heart skip a beat. The kind that didn't ask for attention… yet stole it anyway.

Reikou's thoughts spun wildly.

"Is she… from my dream?

His breath caught.

"And… wh-what is this feeling I'm having?"

"I've never felt this before…"

His chest tightened. His hands trembled just slightly beneath the desk. The line between dream and reality had just shattered.

Before he could even process his thoughts,

She finally turned to him.

Her emerald gaze locked onto his.

Then—her expression shifted. Hardened.

"Are you seeing a girl for the first time, pervert?" she deadpanned.

Reikou nearly choked on air.

"GUH—what?! N-no!"

But before he could even defend himself—

An arm suddenly wrapped around his shoulders.

"Yo, new guy!"

A boy with messy blond hair and a wide, mischievous grin pulled him into a half-hug.

His energy was chaotic, like a storm wrapped in sunshine.

"I'm Ryuuto! Ryuuto Ketsuhiro. You seem fun. Let's be friends!"

Reikou blinked, overwhelmed.

"What? Friends? That was… fast."

THWACK!

A chalk piece smacked both their heads with a sharp thunk.

"Enough talking," Mr. Yinglan grumbled.

"Both of you—Reikou and Ryuuto—go stand outside!"

"But—!"

"Mghh..."

They groaned in unison, but it was no use.

Moments later, Reikou leaned against the hallway wall, arms crossed, his face halfway between annoyance and resignation.

"Late on my first day. Punished within ten minutes.

My legend is off to a great start," Reikou muttered.

"Hey, at least we're in this together!" Ryuuto said with a wide grin, arms behind his head like it was just another chill afternoon.

Reikou side-eyed him and smirked.

"Yeah… Thanks for that, partner in crime."

They both laughed quietly, the tension easing just a bit.

Then, Ryuuto nudged him with his elbow, his grin turning sly.

"So, what was that back there?" Ryuuto wishperd.

"What?" Reikou raised an eyebrow.

"I see you fell deep in thought when you saw Meiyu Sazanami," Ryuuto teased, a sly grin on his face.

"Meiyu... Sazanami?"

Reikou repeated the name silently, letting it echo in his mind like a forgotten melody.

"I don't know why," Reikou murmured, gaze distant, "but when I saw her, I felt something. Something... special. Something I've never felt before."

"Love at first sight?" Ryuuto leaned in, whispering like he'd uncovered a scandal.

"NOOO!"

"Bleeagh!" Reikou recoiled dramatically, sticking out his tongue in exaggerated denial.

Ryuuto burst into laughter.

Then, lowering his voice, he added,

"You know, there's a rumor... some guy from another section is going to confess to her."

Reikou's eyes widened slightly.

"But Meiyu isn't exactly the romantic type," Ryuuto continued.

"She's got her own rules. Just like you."

"Rules?"

Reikou's tone shifted, curious and sharp.

"Yeah! Not sure what they are though," Ryuuto said with a shrug, still grinning.

Reikou leaned back against the wall, gaze lost in thought once more.

She has rules, huh?!

why?!

She has rules?!

what they are ?!
