Chapter 12 - Hey, good evening, everyone.

Looking at the man feasting on the woman, the incandescent light above the tragedy scene flickered, like the pale eyes of a demon blinking, silently watching this tragic tragedy.

Countless wandering figures in the darkness roared as they approached the small area. The woman's desperate and miserable wails were soon drowned in the tide of corpses that surrounded her, leaving only the sounds of flesh chewing and blood splattering.

Lan Ye was startled and broke into a cold sweat. Looking at the group of corpses gathered at the end of the corridor, he did not dare to stay any longer. He opened the door and walked out of the ward.

When Lan Ye saw the scene clearly, his stomach suddenly surged wildly.

The originally white marble floor was covered with broken limbs and arms. It felt sticky when he stepped on it.

Holding back the urge to vomit, Lan Ye wanted to take the elevator up, but the half-bitten corpse fell right in the middle of the elevator door. The elevator must have broken down.

The door had been stuck with the corpse and it hadn't moved. There were creepy roars and slapping sounds coming from the elevator.

Forget it, let's take the stairs.

There weren't many people using the fire escape stairs on weekdays. Everyone liked to take the elevator. In addition, since the virus broke out in the morning, there were even fewer people.

With the cover of darkness, Lan Ye successfully went up to the 4th floor, held his breath, and successfully passed through several zombies wandering in the stairwell.

Just as Lan Ye imagined, in the dark environment, they were like blind people and could only locate by sound.

Lan Ye couldn't help but secretly rejoice that he only needed to go up one more floor.

However, when Lan Ye climbed up the stairs, he was stunned. He cursed in annoyance, how could he forget this.

The floor above the fourth floor is not the fifth floor, but the M floor.

This floor is not open to patients, nor is it a ward. It is for the Medical Research Center of the West District Hospital and the Translational Medicine Research Center of the Medical University and belongs to the scientific research area.

This means that Lan Ye's estimate was wrong. He thought that as long as he passed the fourth floor and reached the fifth floor, he would win. But now, Lan Ye has to face not only one floor of zombies, but two floors!

Heavy footsteps reached his ears, and Lan Ye squatted down hurriedly, not daring to breathe.

At the corner of the stairs, several zombies in white coats were roaring and wandering on the stair platform. Under their feet were incomplete limbs and arms that had been eaten.

Resisting the impact of the smell, Lan Ye slowly stood up. The standing positions of the zombies above were too concentrated, blocking the stair platform, and Lan Ye couldn't get through.

He raised his head and looked at the handrail of the stairs and immediately had an idea.

Lan Ye took a deep breath, jumped up, stepped on the ground with both feet, and leaped into the air, reaching out to grab the handrail of the stair railing above.

His body was suspended in the air, and Lan Ye didn't dare to move, but quietly listened to the movements of the zombies opposite.

They seemed a little restless, obviously feeling the presence of fresh flesh and blood around them, but they couldn't see or hear, so they could only wander around in the same place.

Lan Ye let out a long sigh and continued to climb up using his hands and feet.

When Lan Ye finally climbed to the 5th floor, he turned over and jumped off the railing and was about to pat his butt and leave.

The fluorescent light above his head, which had been silent all the time, suddenly flickered a few times and lit up!

The entire dark corridor was instantly shrouded in the sudden light, and Lan Ye's heart sank, and he secretly said that it was not good.

Lan Ye instinctively stretched out his hand to block the glaring light, and a low and creepy roar came into his ears. The zombies downstairs immediately saw Lan Ye standing on the stairs.

At the same time, Lan Ye found that the fire door on the 5th floor was open, and a group of zombies were lying at the door, less than 3 meters away from Lan Ye, feasting on a fresh corpse.

They were attracted by the light that suddenly lit up above their heads, and all turned back to look at Lan Ye.

Being stared at by dozens of cold, pale, and inhuman eyes at the same time, Lan Ye shivered all over, and a huge fear surged in his heart.

"Uh... Hi!"

Lan Ye could only force out a smile that was a hundred times uglier than crying, "Hey, good evening, everyone."

Lan Ye quickly pulled out his baton from his waist, and while the zombies downstairs were rushing forward, he strode to the door of the fifth floor. He tensed his muscles, jumped up, and kicked the zombie in front of him in the chest.

The powerful force immediately kicked it away, and it fell into the zombie group, knocking down several zombies that had already rushed over.

Lan Ye seized the opportunity to sneak into the door, jumped up again, stepped heavily on the face of a zombie, jumped into the air with the rebound force, and then rolled steadily to the ground.

While climbing up, Lan Ye waved his arms and chopped the zombies that reached out to him with his baton.

"Woo!"

It roared angrily and was repeatedly repelled.

More zombies roared wildly and pounced on Lan Ye. Lan Ye turned and ran away, and before leaving, he did not forget to add a sentence:

"I'm sorry to interrupt your dinner, please just go ahead and ignore me!"

The zombies behind him kept coming. The fifth floor was the Department of Hematology, and there were many patients. Lan Ye was chased to the ground and rolled and crawled and ran away.

Zombies kept wandering out on both sides. Lan Ye could only dodge left and right with flexible movements and occasionally swung his baton to knock down several zombies that were close.

While running wildly, he saw a zombie in a nurse's uniform staggering towards Lan Ye in front of him, holding a cart in his hand.

Lan Ye suddenly had an idea, strode over, kicked the female zombie away, and snatched the cart.

"Excuse me for borrowing it, I will return it to you!"

Lan Ye gritted his teeth and kicked hard on the cart. The cart slid out under the force and hit the zombies shaking behind him.

Several zombies were knocked to the ground, roaring and crawling on the ground. More zombies were still rushing forward and were tripped again. The cart was knocked over with a bang, and the gravel was scattered all over the ground.

Lan Ye seized this brief chaotic gap and turned to run towards the pharmacy.

Suddenly, he tripped and lost his balance. He fell heavily to the ground, trembling with pain.

Looking down, a zombie with only half of its body stretched out its dirty claws from the corner of the wall and grabbed Lan Ye's calf tightly. At this moment, it was struggling to climb on him, opening its bloody mouth full of fangs to bite him.

Lan Ye was scared and kicked it in the face, but the continuous kicks only kicked its body back. Its hand still tightly grasped Lan Ye's leg and refused to let go.

The smell of blood and decay mixed in the air. Its empty and pale eye sockets flashed with a bloodthirsty and hungry red light, like a demon from hell. With black blood dripping from the corners of its mouth, it roared at Lan Ye like a death knell.

The tide of corpses behind him was getting closer and closer. The twisted bodies and trembling limbs of the zombies formed a creepy and terrifying picture. Countless pairs of dry and sharp claws stretched out to Lan Ye, as if they were going to tear him apart in the next moment.

The huge fear was pressing down, and the shadow of death enveloped Lan Ye's whole body. He began to tremble all over, not because of fear, is because...

Looking at the half zombie that was still screaming and holding Lan Ye tightly, smelling the bloody smell in the air, under the fear of death, the violent breath began to surge wildly in the depths of Lan Ye's heart, as if something was about to break through the barrier.

In front of him, a man in a black windbreaker was looming, with a faint threat still hanging on the corners of his mouth, and he stretched out his hand to Lan Ye.

"Let me help you." A cold voice sounded in Lan Ye's mind.
