Chapter 18 - About the Weakest Adventurer Profession

[Quest: Zombie Maker Completed]

After all, it was only because Wiz accidentally entered someone else's cemetery, causing the spirits resting there to be influenced by her Lich nature and turn into zombies. Under Eris's purification magic, all those zombies had already attained enlightenment and moved on to the afterlife. Even those still buried in the ground, who hadn't yet risen, were caught in the purification net.

Thus, Ethan and the others not only gained a lot of experience from the zombies but also received a decent reward. Of course, the most important thing was meeting Wiz!

In the past, Wiz had once been the leader of the strongest adventurer team. Although not from the Crimson Demon Clan, she possessed magical power on par with them, mastered a wide variety of spells, and was truly a genuine battle mage.

She was even known as the Ice Witch due to her merciless attitude toward monsters during her adventurer days. She could ruthlessly destroy Devil King executives who begged for mercy and was skilled in using ice magic.

This version of Wiz, even during her adventurer era, already had enough strength to defeat Devil King executives.

And after becoming a Lich, although she no longer adventured and accumulated combat experience as she did when she was human, she instead gathered even more knowledge about battles.

After Ethan and the others met Wiz yesterday, Wiz seemed extremely grateful that they had resolved the zombie issue and allowed the spirits to attain enlightenment. She also thanked Eris for giving her a chance. Then, with full confidence, she patted her proud chest and promised to help Ethan and the others.

"If Ethan-sama needs assistance, please come to me. Although I may not be that great, I will do my best to help."

As for the chest-patting gesture, Eris seemed dissatisfied, likely because, as a goddess, she was utterly defeated in terms of feminine pride by a Lich. Even Yunyun was envious of Wiz's Mount Everest!

"If possible, I hope Wiz can guide me on how to become stronger!" This was Ethan's request, and of course, he didn't say it without thought.

Because Ethan knew that Wiz, when she was still human, was one of the strongest adventurers. She not only experienced various dangerous adventures but also met many powerful humans.

Even someone like Ethan, who chose the weakest profession instead of a better one, was extremely rare, almost nonexistent. Wiz could use her vast experience to provide significant benefits to Ethan.

And as expected by Ethan, just by explaining his situation, Wiz had thoroughly analyzed how Ethan should develop. This was something even Eris had to acknowledge!

After all, although Eris had also lived for many years, her life before meeting Ethan was almost entirely spent in heaven, doing the work of receiving spirits. Thus, she knew nothing about how to become stronger.

Of course, Wiz's advice was similar to Ethan's thoughts when choosing the weakest adventurer profession.

Why did Ethan skip professions like warrior or mage, which, although not high-tier, were still far stronger than adventurer?

It wasn't because his brain had turned to brick after working as a brick mover, but because he knew that the adventurer, despite being the weakest profession, had an unparalleled advantage!

To explain it in terms of Ethan's original world—

High-tier professions like Arch Priest or Arch Wizard were like specialized staff in a company with specific expertise, while the adventurer was like a new employee who hadn't been assigned a role yet.

Although new employees didn't have specialized skills like seasoned staff, they had the ability to learn all kinds of jobs and could even replace any position!

The adventurer profession was like that. Although it didn't have specific advantages like Arch Priest or Arch Wizard, it had the ability to learn everything!

Of course, if that were all, it wouldn't be enough to make it the weakest profession, because the stat increases adventurers gained upon leveling up were the lowest among all professions, and they didn't have unique skills like other professions.

If adventurers learned skills from other professions, not only would it cost more skill points, but the power generated would also be far weaker than the original profession!

But Ethan still believed that the adventurer profession had great potential and, if used well, could surpass other high-tier professions and become the strongest profession!

Wiz also shared this thought, although mostly to comfort Ethan!

But Ethan still received a list of skills to learn based on the parameters listed on his adventurer card.

And where did all these skills come from?

Simple, because adventurers learned skills by seeking guidance from other professions. Ethan used part of the large reward he earned from frog hunting to offer gifts and learn skills.

Of course, the process of learning skills wasn't smooth. At the very least, Ethan encountered a few people who took advantage of the fact that their professions were rarely chosen and tried to raise prices to extort him.

But when Ethan pointed his Demon Sword at their necks, they immediately became his subordinates, not only teaching him skills for free but also treating him to dinner!

This made Ethan mutter to himself: "Unwilling to accept kindness, no wonder they're still single!"

But after learning all the skills Wiz recommended, Ethan's remaining skill points were scarce.

It should be noted that his current level is 31, and he gained 30 skill points from leveling up, plus the 10 points he had before, totaling 40 points.

Although this number seemed large, it wasn't even enough for an Arch Wizard. After all, a single intermediate-level spell required 10 points, and a high-level spell required a shocking 30 points!

Of course, there were beginner-level spells used for daily life that only required one skill point to learn!

The spells Ethan learned were beginner-level spells considered useless by others, as well as skills like thief skills that required few points but had high value.

And Wiz generously offered to teach Ethan a unique Lich skill, although this made Eris very unhappy.

This was the reason why Ethan and the others appeared in front of Wiz's magic item shop!
