Chapter 9 - EP 009: Bitter Truths Yet To Be Unveiled

Roko Sasukan's chest heaved like a storm trapped in a body. His wide eyes gleamed under the cold fluorescent light. His lips curled into a smirk. He tilted his head up, chin high, body coiled like a beast ready to strike.

"F***it, Kisi! RUN!"

Kisimoto's body responded before his mind did. He grabbed his mother and Serena by the wrist, yanking them forward. Behind them, Roko tore through their pursuers, his blade dancing in the dim glow. One head rolled to the floor with a sickening thud, but Roko didn't blink. Didn't flinch.

Serena stopped running. Her breath hitched.

Her hands trembled.

Her fiery green eyes widened as if something cracked inside her. The air around her shifted.

Then—she moved.

The first guard never even saw it coming. A dagger flashed in her grip, embedding itself into his gut. Blood splattered her face, but she didn't stop.

She twisted the blade.

The second guard tried to shoot. She was faster. A brutal slash to his throat ended him instantly. Bodies dropped. Screams rang out.

Then, silence.

Serena stood, panting.

And then—her expression changed.

Her eyes flickered back. Her hands, dripping red, trembled as she stared at what she had done.

"What…" Her voice was small. Lost. Her gaze darted around, meeting Kisimoto's horrified stare, then their mother's. Her breath turned shallow. "No… No, I didn't—"

A tear rolled down her cheek.

She screamed.

Another personality pushed through.

She blinked. Looked at the bodies. Then, at Kisimoto. A slow, eerie smile spread across her lips.

"Let's talk about this later, okay?" she whispered. "We need to move."

She wiped the blood off her dagger like it was nothing.

Roko clicked his tongue. "Damn, girl."

The hallway lights flickered. More footsteps. More enemies.

They ran.

Bursting through the doors, they were finally outside. The fresh night air hit Kisimoto's face, but the momentary relief vanished as alarms blared across the facility.

"Where now?!" their mother panted.

Roko scanned the area. A delivery truck rumbled nearby, its engine still on.

"There." Kisimoto sprinted first. He heard his mother and sister behind him, their breaths heavy but determined.

Roko, as always, followed last—grinning like a maniac.

They piled into the truck. Kisimoto slammed the gas. The wheels screeched. The truck lurched forward, breaking through the gate.

They were free.

For now.

But as they sped down the dark highway, Kisimoto stole a glance at Serena.

Her fingers tapped the dagger absentmindedly. Her green eyes flickered.

A storm was brewing.

And he had no idea who his sister really was anymore.
