Chapter 17 - Chapter 17: Magic That Vet Can Also Use

"Understand magic, learn magic, and then you can defeat magic!"

Hearing Winters' words, my enthusiasm for magic, which had just waned, flared anew.

I truly cannot wield magic, but if I possess a sufficient understanding of it, then naturally I will have the means to contend with magic.

Even if it is merely a method, it is superior to knowing nothing at all.

Seeing my rekindled ardor for magic, Winters could not help but smile, a slightly grim expression.

"Yes, that is the very mien!

Vet, I eagerly anticipate your performance, and even if you cannot learn other forms of magic, there is one magic that you will undoubtedly be able to master!

For that magic is etched into the very depths of the True Dragon Species' bloodline!

Regardless of how much your bloodline mutates, as long as you remain a True Dragon Species, then you will be capable of learning this magic!"

Hearing this, my eyes lit up immediately.

"Winters, tell me swiftly, what magic is it?

What must I do to learn it?"

"Dragon Breath!

Moreover, you need not do much, for it is your very instinct!"

"Dragon Breath!"

I repeated the name of the magic, my eyes growing progressively brighter.

Of course, it was not because Winters had informed me that I could learn this magic, but rather, when I heard the two words 'Dragon Breath,' an astonishing image materialized in the depths of my mind.

A familiar figure stood amidst the starry expanse; it was my sire, and opposite him was a terrifying creature the size of a star itself.

Celestial Behemoth.

For no discernible reason, the name of that colossal beast surfaced in the depths of my consciousness.

Compared to that Celestial Behemoth, my sire's form was so diminutive, so minuscule that I harbored no doubt that the star-sized beast needed only to inhale, and my sire would be drawn into its body like a mote of dust in the air.

However, the very next second, I beheld the golden patterns upon my sire's body begin to illuminate, and clusters of incandescent white flames, like flowing anabatic clouds, drifted forth from my sire's slightly parted maw.

Then, my sire suddenly opened his mouth wide, and a torrent of incandescent white, viscous flame erupted, instantly piercing the body of that Celestial Behemoth.

The terrifyingly high temperature distorted even the fabric of the starry sky.

From my vantage point, I could even perceive the void behind the Celestial Behemoth through the resultant aperture, as well as the charred and carbonized flesh within the wound.

Is this Dragon Breath?

Just as this thought occurred to me, the image in my mind dissipated.

I knew not if it was an illusion, but after the breath concluded, my sire seemed to cast a glance in my direction.

"Vet? Vet!"

Winters' call drew my thoughts back from their reverie.

Noticing the concern in Winters' eyes, a warmth spread through my heart, and then I whispered, "I am well.

Just now, a scene of my sire employing Dragon Breath appeared in my mind!"

Hearing this, not only Winters, but even the eyes of the other four young dragons were drawn towards me.

In truth, in the hearts of these young dragons, my sire has become synonymous with mystery, a unique Aberrant True Dragon.

"Can you describe it?"

I nodded, and then began to recount it in detail.

Naturally, I could not describe the entire scene; that would only lead Winters to believe I was indulging in fantasy.

Thus, in my description, the battlefield transformed from the starry expanse to a mundane plain, and the adversary changed from a Celestial Behemoth to an adult Bus Dragon Beast.

Ah... although I did not know the true dimensions of an adult Bus Dragon Beast, the immature ones already stood tens of metres tall, let alone the adults.

After listening to my description, Winters subconsciously raised her paw and gently scratched her chin, a gesture indicating she was deep in thought.

However, we five young dragons had to maintain a safe distance from Winters to prevent being struck by the falling flames.

"The description of your sire's breath aligns with his bloodline.

The blazing white, viscous flames should indeed be the Red Dragon's Magma Breath.

Although normal Magma Breath ought to be crimson, your sire himself is an Aberrant Dragon, so it is perfectly normal for the flame's hue to differ!"

Instantly piercing through the body of an adult Bus Dragon Beast, forming a transparent aperture with charred edges—this indicates that your sire's Magma Breath possesses the properties of extreme heat and penetration!

Of course, the possibility of it containing fire toxin cannot be entirely dismissed.

Hmm...it is a most potent breath!"

Hearing Winters' analysis, I secretly breathed a sigh of relief, and then a flicker of joy arose within me.

"Will my breath be like this as well?"

However, Winters shook her head.

"That is not certain.

After all, although you possess half of the Aberrant Dragon Blood, your appearance is that of a pure Argent Dragon, which signifies that your dam is also exceedingly powerful!

The offspring of two equally potent True Dragons will randomly inherit the abilities of one of their progenitors.

Breath is no different!"

Although I felt a twinge of disappointment, I then inquired curiously, "What is the breath of an Argent Dragon like?"

"The breath of an Argent Dragon is termed Elemental Breath.

The breath of each Argent Dragon will exhibit different elemental components, but at the very least, it will possess more than three elemental effects.

Among these, the water element is invariably present; after all, the Argent Dragon itself possesses an affinity for the water element."

"Sounds less impressive than mine.

The Crystal True Dragon's breath is called Crystal Breath, which sounds far superior to Elemental Breath or some such!"

Hearing Billy's words, a strange glint flashed in Winters' eyes.

"Billy, although I am loath to interrupt your fanciful imaginings, I must regretfully inform you that among all True Dragon Species, the weakest breath is the Crystal Breath.

Because, among all breaths, only the Crystal Breath is not a simple magical exhalation!

Of course, that has been the case thus far!"

Hearing this, Billy wailed and then clutched his head.

"Winters, may I pretend I did not hear that?"

"Assuredly, if that is your desire!"

After a pause, Winters noticed the expectant gazes of the other three dragons.

With the existence of bloodline inheritance, they certainly knew the nature of their own breath.

But, they wished even more to hear Winters' assessment.

Seeing this, Winters could only acquiesce with a sigh of helplessness.

"Very well, I was originally planning to take you to practice your breathing, but since you wish to hear it, then I shall say a few more words."

Hearing this, we five little ones instantly became animated.

Unexpectedly, breathing was the first magic they were to learn.

"I know you are excited, but please allow me to finish!

The Verdant Dragon possesses two types of breath: Toxic Breath and Natural Breath, both of which are quite troublesome exhalations.

The Aurum Dragon's breath is similar to that of the Red Dragon, which is Magma Breath; however, the Aurum Dragon's Magma Breath contains both Fire and Earth magical elements.

As for you, Celine, the Sanctum Dragon's light atom breath is the swiftest and most penetrating breath, save for certain specialized True Dragons."

Saying this, Winters looked down at the increasingly lively Dragon's Den and chuckled.

"Alright, next is the time to learn to breathe, but this location is evidently unsuitable.

Let us venture outside.

We shall leave this place to these Ball Little Dragons.

They will assist us in attending to everything!"
