Nick Fury is likely one of the most knowledgeable people when it comes to science. After all, the black technologies within S.H.I.E.L.D. far exceed the imagination of the outside world, supported by the combined forces of the five major countries.
As a result, many of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s technologies remain invisible to the public. It can even be said that some of them are more than 20, and even 30, years ahead of the outside world.
However, when it comes to parallel universes, it's still a difficult concept to grasp. Even with their advanced technologies, it's still laborious to leave Earth. The idea of traveling between parallel universes is nothing more than an abstract notion.
At least from a scientific perspective, it would be extremely difficult to travel to the moon, let alone across parallel universes.
But on the "Extraordinary" side, things are different. The question of whether it's magic, witchcraft, or something else is still up in the air. The key is that Nick Fury's understanding of the Extraordinary realm is not rooted in science, which opens up the possibility that such magic or abilities could exist.
No matter what it's called, it's clear that it's not technology they can comprehend.
This whole situation had made him more aware of the extraordinary. Those who come and go from other realms are the most unpredictable.
When regular people commit crimes, it's often mundane. But when extraordinary individuals cause trouble, they quickly become the so-called "super-criminals" mentioned in Luo Chen's diary.
"It seems like I'll have to recruit some members from the Extraordinary side for the Avengers. Otherwise, how will we handle the threats coming from there?" Nick Fury thought.
"It doesn't seem like a good thing to be able to travel between universes and kill people. We'd better monitor it," Fury concluded.
Widow Natasha Romanoff agreed, adding, "It's understandable. If she already had such abilities but lost her husband, especially if he was dismantled as parts... I wouldn't be able to accept that either if I were in her shoes."
Nick Fury understood all too well what she meant. After all, S.H.I.E.L.D. had been involved in human experimentation. But what was recorded in the diary—the actions of the Heavenly Sword Game—had gone too far.
He had just saved the world, and yet they dismantled her husband into parts? That was simply inhumane. Heroes should not be treated like that.
"And she saved the world too," Natasha added. "This shows that she may not necessarily be bad. She could have been pushed to the edge by the Heavenly Sword Game. We can't allow something like this to happen!"
Nick Fury nodded, "I understand completely. We can't allow such things to continue."
"Then there's also this Quicksilver situation," Natasha continued. "According to Luo Chen's diary, it seems like Quicksilver from another universe had super-speed abilities. From the looks of it, he should have been able to run at speeds beyond the speed of sound."
"Yes," Nick Fury said, "but our Quicksilver in this universe doesn't seem to be as fast. He was shot to death. However, Quicksilver from the X-Men universe seems to have survived."
"That means their speed is beyond the speed of sound," Natasha said, "and that's just what we can assume from the way Luo Chen described it. A bullet would be no match for someone moving faster than sound."
Fury began to think of how he could deal with someone who could move faster than a bullet. It was a serious headache. Many bullets travel faster than the speed of sound, but even so, Quicksilver's death by a bullet seemed to indicate that there was something more to his speed than just sound-breaking abilities.
"I have no idea how we could counter or eliminate speedsters like that," Fury admitted, rubbing his temples. "It's just too difficult."
"In particular," Natasha said, "judging by what's written in the diary, there may be individuals from different universes appearing in the future."
"There are two known universes: ours, called the '1999 universe' by Luo Chen, and the X-Men universe," Fury explained. "I don't know what this X-Men thing is, but it sounds like an organization."
"It doesn't matter," Natasha replied. "What matters is that we may face threats from other universes in the future, especially the Quicksilver from the X-Men universe. His speed may far exceed the speed of sound—maybe even ten times faster, or even dozens of times."
Fury frowned as he thought about this. "That would explain Luo Chen's emotional reaction in the diary. If Quicksilver from our universe is fast enough to break the sound barrier, then the Quicksilver from the X-Men universe must be much faster. And there's more than one of them!"
The more Fury thought about it, the more his headache deepened. He couldn't shake the thought that there were so many dangers in this world—and now, even more from other universes. No wonder Luo Chen said the world was so dangerous.
"Also, this Ultron... might not be a good guy," Natasha said. "He killed Quicksilver with a gun. This makes him seem like a super-criminal, or even a supervillain. We should definitely keep an eye on anyone with that name."
"I'll have the entire internet searched for this name," Fury replied.
Meanwhile, on the other side, in Tony Stark's mansion, Tony was filled with doubts as he read the latest passage.
"Ultron? Is this a coincidence?" Tony murmured to himself.
The name Ultron may have been unfamiliar to Nick Fury, but Tony was no stranger to it.
Ultron was one of the alternative names Tony had considered when creating artificial intelligence. Along with J.A.R.V.I.S., Friday, and others, Ultron was at the top of the list.
In the end, he chose to name the AI J.A.R.V.I.S. in memory of his father's old butler, who had essentially raised him. Howard Stark had been busy with his work, and Tony had spent his childhood with J.A.R.V.I.S., so he had a deep affection for the AI butler.
However, Ultron had always been an option. He had even planned to use the name for another AI in the future.
Had Tony simply heard the name somewhere? If it had come up randomly, he wouldn't have thought much of it. But the fact that it appeared in Luo Chen's diary... That was no coincidence. It hinted at a possible future—and that was a big deal.
