Chapter 10 - Mating habits

After a much needed long soak and Thai food for dinner, she settled down to examine the files.

A light knock sounded on her door. She flicked a glance at the clock on the wall, it was past midnight.

What could he possibly want?

She opened the door, making sure to stand firmly with her fingers curled around the knob.

The sight of was him was always disconcerting. But it was even more so seeing him in a soft flannel shirt, with few unbuttoned, leaving her to gape slab of muscles.

She could see the outline of his six packs in the white shirt. She stared at his stomach, the light dusting of hair on his chest and finally…finally his face.

If Karma could describe the look in his eyes, it was hunger. Potent and feral.

It was in the way his eyelids droop, the subtle flare of his nostrils and the angling of his body toward hers.

He sniffed her surreptitiously, causing heat to flood her body.

His eyes darkened, his pupil spilling. Her breath hitched and she swallowed against a dry throat.

She cleared her throat covertly.

"Can I help you with something?" She asked a bit breathless.

"Won't you let me in first, hmm?" He drawled, his eyes raking over her.

Karma tried to see what he was seeing. Where he was a drop dead gorgeous demon, her hair was tied haphazardly on her head, and she was wearing a large shirt she'd had for God knows how long.

"There's something I have to discuss with you. I'd like to at least sit while talking," he said, smirking.

Karma was disoriented even as she opened the door to let him in. Her room was a clump of different mess.

The takeout left over was on the table, her laptop beside it.

The bed was strewn with different piece of clothing and the coverlet was on the floor.

Alphonse looked at the room, his head shaking with disbelief.

How could someone live in a room like this?

"What are you? A three year old? A pig??" He stared incredulously at her.

She stared back, defiant as always. If not for the light dusting of pink on her cheeks, he wouldn't have been able to determine her embarrassment.

"I've been busy doing stuff," she muttered. "Mr clean freak."

He managed to find a clear spot on the bed and sat tentatively.

Karma sat on the chair and looked at him with equal part wary and anticipation.

"What do you know about demons?" He surprised her by asking.

The question caught her off guard. Infact, she was ashamed to think…that her thoughts had trailed to some other things.

About demons did he say?

"To be honest, I haven't really met much demons before you. I don't really care either. It's just the general knowledge," she twirled her pen.

"Demons are creature of darkness and fire, with their own realm. They're not really uncommon in human realm, but neither are they in abundance. They're powerful, and could manipulate force of nature." She took a deep breath.

"Is there something you'll like me to know?"

"By pure necessity, yes. There's something you should know about the mating habits of demons."

Her breath caught in her throat. She fanned her face.

"Mating habits?"

"I believe you heard me just right. There's a period where demons cannot go without mating even the strongest of them."

Karma did not know how to react to this information. A slight moisture trickling down her thighs and she clamped them together.

She swallowed, "how does that…?"

She let her question trailed off into nothingness.

"It may have slipped your notice, madam, but you're my wife. We're married." He enunciated the words slowly.

As if her mind wasn't already latching on each words he said. As if she was dreading and expecting them even before they're out.

"I'm not sure where this is going," she gestured to herself.

"We agreed to an offspring before the end of our marriage. It's the practical solution when you think about it."

Surely, he wasn't suggesting they..?

"Yes." Was his reply to her unspoken question.

Karma fiddled with the tip of her pen, her mind reeling. She had agreed to this, hadn't she?

Alphonse's self assured smirk was present, but underlying was the heat. It was strong, a roaring fire that threatened to consume her.

"It's quite practical like you said. Not that I want this of course," she wiped her sweaty palm on her short.

She was feeling jittery. Like a tightly strung guitar and Alphonse was plucking her strings.

All rational thought fled her head when Alphonse drew the chair closer to him with just a thought, his green eyes settled heavily on her lips.

The sound of her labored breathing filled the room.

Desire flared inside her, her heart pounding against her ribcage.

His hot fingers closed over hers, and she stared at him. Her mind was a foggy well of nothingness.

Her thinking faculties hitched, when his long fingers trailed a path of fire down her arms, she sucked in a breath at the contact.

They receded their position and finally gave them to her womanly parts, when his firm lips slanted over hers, hot and demanding.

The kiss was nothing but fire and desire. She clung to him for dear life, as his lips ravaged hers.

His tongue invaded her mouth, probing, stroking and inflaming.

A small moan slipped out of her as her fingers found the silly mass of his hair.

He groaned, deepening the kiss. His tongue stroked deep, she felt her legs curl with pleasure.

Her frenzied fingers found his chest, solid and hot to the hot. He stared down at her with hooded eyes, the contrast in their skin color.

They stared at each othe

r, the sound rapid breaths filling the room.

Before they could continue, a loud bang filled the room. Glass shattered and they were suddenly plunged into darkness.
