Chapter 22 - CHAPTER 21 - A… Special Exam? Part 1

(Important Characters)

Saik: The protagonist. An expressionless boy who only cares about his own well-being. Those close to him consider him a good person, though he admits that the "good" actions he's taken were only done because he thought not doing them would ruin his peaceful school life. His special ability is seeing and controlling ghosts, a skill that has caused him many problems in life. His favorite hobby is doing nothing and sleeping.

Yuki: A 15-year-old ghost girl who looks like a 10-year-old due to dying at that age. She hates that Saik treats her like a little girl, but her childish personality and behavior don't help Saik see her as mature. Her childish demeanor makes Saik consider her his little sister. Her favorite hobbies are watching TV, playing video games with Saik, eating sweets, and spying on people.

Sylphie: A shy and nervous girl. Thanks to Saik's actions, he's become someone she trusts. With him, she's less nervous and shy. Sylphie had issues with her mother's alcoholism and school bullying, problems that Saik resolved. Her previous favorite hobbies were watching anime and reading manga (hobbies she picked up because she never went out and was always at home). Now that she's met Saik, her favorite hobbies are studying with Saik and being with him, as she feels protected and that her luck improves, since everything has gotten better since Saik entered her life.

Iris: Sylphie's mother. Due to her depression and self-esteem issues, she turned to alcohol to forget her problems. When she could no longer bear her issues, she attempted suicide, but Saik managed to save her and prevent it. Saik saved her twice, which made Iris feel indebted to him, as he not only saved her but also gave her advice and money to help her. She's currently striving to be a good mother to Sylphie and has quit drinking.

Ram: A girl with a cold and competitive personality. She's similar to Saik, except that she wants to be better than others, while Saik doesn't care who's better. She only thinks about herself and doesn't worry about others. Her favorite hobbies are reading and being comfortable.

(POV - Saoto)

After breakfast, I grabbed my backpack, said goodbye to my parents and younger sister, and left the house, heading to school. Yes, my father was the only one who wished me luck at school… and the only one who spoke to me kindly… But I'm used to it. I won't let this affect me academically, as I now have a great responsibility, and I don't want to disappoint my classmates.

The school I'm attending is very strange. I'd heard rumors about it. They said it was too strict and had special tests. Tests that almost always end with the expulsion of many students, which is why I decided to enroll in this school. I chose to attend this school to prove myself.

I want to improve as a person… I want… I want to be a better version of my past self.

I made many mistakes in my past… Mistakes I deeply regret.

I want to become a trustworthy person, which is why I volunteered to be the class president.

I want to support my classmates. I want to help them… I want them to be my friends… I want them to trust me.

I'll help everyone equally… I don't want anyone to be expelled.

I know very well that there will be expulsions at the end of each semester; that's inevitable, but that doesn't mean I can't prevent expulsions for failing an exam.

I want to become a trustworthy person… I want to keep my promise.

"Grandma, please be patient."

I'll keep my promise.

CHAPTER 21 - A… Special Exam? Part 1

(POV - Saik)

Ah, the second week of classes has begun. I've gotten a bit used to this school, and I'll get even more used to it thanks to being able to sleep during classes. Thank you, weird survival system. I don't know who came up with it, but I love it, as it lets me do what I always did in my previous schools, but without the negative consequences: sleep in the classroom.

Today is Monday, September 1st. Just as a new week has started, so has a new month.

We said goodbye to August and hello to September.

Speaking of September, my birthday is coming up soon.

For others, a birthday is a special day. For me? It's just another day.

I've never had friends, so I never celebrated it like normal people did, and I don't have any other living relatives, so my "birthday parties" didn't feel like parties.

My parents would buy me a cake, and that was it. They insisted on throwing me a big party, but it seemed unnecessary to me, so I refused. Besides, only they mattered to me; I didn't want their friends or their friends' kids celebrating my birthday, as I didn't want to socialize with strangers who didn't matter to me.

Celebrating my birthday with my parents was enough for me. They'd offer me gifts, and my birthday would be over.

For me, it was just an opportunity to eat whatever I wanted and get a new video game.

Now, I have enough money to buy all the food I want and video games, so I don't care much about my birthday anymore. With my parents no longer with me, my birthday is just another day on the calendar; its existence doesn't matter to me.

Though, if I keep buying things recklessly like I do, I'll run out of money soon.

I need to get a part-time job. I don't want Yuki to go hungry… Well, she's a ghost, so she doesn't need to eat, but… Ah, whatever. The important thing is I don't want Yuki to lose her six daily meals, much less my eight daily meals.

"B-By the way, Saik…"

Sylphie's voice brought me back to reality, and I turned to look at her. She sounded quite nervous, more than usual. I think she mustered the courage to speak. Is it something important? Her face is red, which means it's something hard to say out loud. Could it be a complaint about my teaching method or something like that?

"D-Do you have any social media?"

Ah… It's a common, ordinary question. Sometimes I forget how simple she is.

"Ah, social media, huh? Mmm… To be honest, I've never been interested in that, Sylphie. I don't have any."

Though I think normal people have them… Should I create an account?

Social media is just a waste of time, or so I heard my parents say when they talked with their friends.

I never made an account because I thought they were unnecessary, but since almost everyone has at least one, I think I should have one too, to be more normal.

"Why?"

"J-Just curious. I wanted to send you a friend request, but I guess that's not possible."

"Friend request…?"

Why does she want to add me on social media? She's already texted me before; she has my number. Why would she want to contact me another way?

"I already gave you my number, didn't I?"

"Y-Yes."

That's weird… Ah, another thing to add to my research list. Being normal is more complicated than it seems. The people around me make it look easy. How do they do it?

Wow, that girl is eating something that looks like a "torta," a foreign dish. Bread stuffed with something, like ham and vegetables. Like a sandwich, but bigger. It looks delicious. When I get home, I'll make something similar.

Speaking of delicious things, I forgot to give Sylphie the dessert.

"By the way, here."

I took a lunch container out of my backpack and gave it to her.

"I made the cake from the recipe you gave me. Thank you so much, it turned out perfect… I guess. I sent you a picture, but you haven't seen it yet. I added lemon gelatin to give it an extra flavor."

Lemon gelatin crushed with my hands to pour over the cake. Sounds bad, but the result is incredibly delicious.

"F-For me? Can I really take it?"

"Of course. I like sweets, but that doesn't mean I'll eat an entire cake by myself."

"Oh… Yes… T-Thanks."

She took the lunch container and put it in her backpack.

"I-I'll return the container tomorrow."

"Sure, no problem."

I have plenty, so I don't think it'll matter if she keeps it. I don't think Sylphie's a thief, but sometimes appearances can be deceiving.

We entered our classroom, and each of us sat at our desk.

I'll start my daily ritual that I just inaugurated.

Every day, during the first classes, I'll put my backpack on my desk, take a deep breath, rest my arms on the backpack, and fall asleep.

Good night. Ah, this is what I needed. So comfortable.

"Saik, you need to pay attention to classes!"

It's not necessary, Yuki. We'll cheat on the exams, and I'll study at home. I'll only sleep during the first hours of class, I promise.

"Hey, don't ignore me!"

Zzzzz. Good night, I said. Zzzzz.

(POV - Yuki)

Ahhhhhhhh! Saik, everyone's looking at you weird! Don't ruin your reputation even more!

"Waaaaake uuuuuup!!"

… Ah… This idiot won't listen to me.

Seriously, Saik, I don't understand you.

You're handsome, you have an amazing body, you can see ghosts, you have enough money to wipe your butt with bills. Yes, you don't have family, but you have me now. Why are you so… Saik? It's even hard to explain how you are.

Aside from your haircut, you're the envy of any guy. You could definitely have any woman you wanted. You're almost perfect; the only bad thing about you is your personality and the way you live your life.

Why are you like this? With such amazing parents (according to what you've told me), why is the current Saik so unpredictable?

Ah, I don't understand this guy at all, but don't worry, Saik, I love you just the way you are! Your best friend will never hate you, even if you act weird! In fact, here's a kiss. Mwah. Fufu. Feel lucky; not everyone can brag about getting a kiss on the cheek from the great and beautiful Yuki! Hahahahahaha!

"That guy is so weird. He grosses me out."

… Did I hear that right? You… You dared to insult Saik?

He may be an idiot, lazy, insensitive, and a long, hurtful etcetera, but he's a good person… in his own way. I won't let you talk bad about him!

I approached that girl, or rather, group of girls, because I suspect her friends are just as rude as she is.

Several girls are around her, talking nonsense about Saik. Tsk. Damn them.

The type of person I hate the most: those who mock and despise others without knowing them. I know perfectly well the pain people feel when they're despised and insulted, because I went through it too… Well, I can't entirely blame my old classmates for ignoring me and never talking to me, since my mother was partly to blame. But I don't care! I won't let them insult my best friend!

"He falls asleep in class and refuses to tell us how he got those points. Ugh. I can't stand him."

… How can you hate someone who doesn't talk to anyone?

Saik literally told you the truth, and you didn't believe him. If he sleeps in class, that's his problem, not yours… You gross me out.

"And his hair is gross."

"Yeah, it's true. Why doesn't he comb it? Doesn't he care about his appearance? What a basic guy."

"So gross."

They all started laughing… They're laughing at Saik… They're mocking him.

Damn them… Damn rude bitches!!

"Only I can mock Saik!"

Great ghostly punch…! Huh?

I tried to hit the main girl in the group, but my fist and arm went through her chest.

"Huh?"

Don't I have my body activated?

I turned to look at Saik. Did he wake up and stop me from hitting her? Don't stop me from delivering justice!

Oh, he's still asleep… Ah, right, he deactivated my body; he only activates it when we eat… At least I'll pretend to hit her to satisfy my bloodlust! Die!!

"Take your seats," said the teacher.

Everyone sat at their desks, and I kept pretending to hit the leader. Die, flat-chest, you're not even pretty! You have no right to belittle others, ugly!

"If I were still alive, I'd have huge breasts, and you wouldn't, flat-chest!"

Though this girl isn't that flat; she has average-sized breasts, neither too big nor too small.

But I'd have big, gigantic breasts; I'd outshine her by a mile! Ahhhhhhhhh! I hate this girl so much!!

… Oh… She's the typical girl who mocks others. Surrounded by other girls just like her… And, of course, she has an arrogant personality… The type of girl I hate the most! I hope you're the first one expelled from the class!

"Before starting the class, we're going to change seats."

A seat change, so typical. I hope Sylphie gets to sit next to Saik. I like her. Or maybe Ram, because it'd be fun to see her try to surpass Saik. God, please let it be Sylphie! B-But if I haven't been that good, let it be Ram, please. You owe me for letting them take the life of an innocent girl whose only crime was being born beautiful! Oh, that might anger God. I-I'd better shut up!

(POV - Saik)

I'm sorry, I'm so sorry. If only I hadn't let my guard down at that moment, you'd still be…

"Hey, Saik, wake up, we're changing seats!"

Ah… Thanks, Yuki. Nightmares will never leave me alone. Your voice helped me relax… Wait, changing seats? Ah, what a hassle. I hate this kind of thing. In my previous schools, it was enough to threaten the teachers to keep the seat I wanted, but I no longer have the social power to do that, especially now that I'm normal.

I don't want to lose this seat; it's very comfortable to be here. It's easier to sleep here because I'm far from the teacher, and her voice is barely audible, perfect for sleeping.

"Yuki, I want you to do the following."

"Fufu. We don't need your help anymore, God! It's time to cheat!" Yuki said, raising her arms triumphantly.

God's help? Ah, if only you knew the truth, Yuki. Those Gods can never help us.

Well, whatever, it's time to cheat.

To change seats, we'll draw a paper from a box.

As the teacher called the students one by one, Yuki peeked inside the box and looked for the number "5," the number corresponding to my seat. Four rows of five seats each. There's a considerable space between the rows. I think the classroom is so large despite having so few students because we'll do activities inside, or maybe just for aesthetics.

There are only 20 students in this classroom, but there are four other first-year groups.

100 first-year students in total.

Very few, but quality is better than quantity. Students who manage to graduate from this school are guaranteed better opportunities to get into a university and secure better jobs… Or so I've heard. I didn't research the school much, as I don't really care about the benefits. I was only interested in the "prestigious," "elite," and "challenging" parts.

To be honest, I don't know much about the school. When I learned about the expulsions for failing, I immediately wanted to study here.

Our class is "1-B." I don't know if A is better or if it doesn't matter.

But knowing the school and its teaching method, I wouldn't doubt that class A is better.

If that's true, why is Sylphie in this class? If she's the worst, why isn't she in class E?

I have two theories.

Number 1: She was assigned to this class to balance the others, having smart and dumb students.

Number 2: No class is better than another.

Option 2 seems more logical, as I'm the best first-year thanks to my perfect results, and I'm in class B. They probably just assigned students to classes randomly.

"Saik."

I'm coming. Don't worry, seat, don't miss my butt; I'll be back soon. Wow, that was a good joke, right? Ah, this being normal thing is really hard.

I went to the front.

"This one, Saik!" Yuki said.

Thanks.

I put my hand in the box while looking forward to avoid suspicion, and Yuki handed me a paper.

I took it and pulled it out.

"Mmm… Number 5. Ah, great, I was used to my seat."

I walked back, sat down again, and tried to sleep.

Lovely seat, so comfortable. I don't want to lose you.

(POV - Yuki)

Ah… This idiot fell asleep again. I need to get used to this.

One by one, the students are taking their seats, and no one has sat next to Saik.

… Yes, it's sylphie's turn!

Please, let her sit next to Saik. Come on, come on, sit next to him. I'd help you, but I can't; Saik deactivated my body. Come on, fate, do your job!

"The… 20."

Huh…? 20?! So far away?!

What bad luck! Noooooo!

It's not fair.

Ah… I need to look on the bright side… What bright side?!

Saik's an idiot; he won't try to befriend whoever sits next to him and will ignore them. Goodbye, future plans to help Saik make more friends!

"Naima."

Oh, no… Please, don't let the rude girl sit next to Saik. Please, no. Anyone but the crazy flat-chest!

"The… 4."

Nooooo! Damn it. It must be a bad day for us, Saik! Does God really hate me?!

"Shit."

I feel the same way, idiot!

She sat in front of Saik. She clearly hates being in that seat, but Saik doesn't care since he's asleep.

Tsk. I swear, if you try to bother Saik, I'll use my ghostly powers to pull your feet when you go to sleep! Muahahahaha!

"Ram."

Ah, I don't care about her. I don't hate her, but I don't like her either.

"The 10."

Ah… Well… It could've been worse.

The two smartest in the class (Saik only has the title), sitting together. Hmm… I think that could be interesting.

Everyone has their assigned seats now.

A student named Bell is in front of Ram.

Well… I was hoping Sylphie would be here, but nothing can be done.

Ah… I just hope Naima isn't too annoying.

"Now that everyone has their seats, I'll explain the first special exam you'll have."

"Huh?!"

Everyone was shocked to hear those words, as they know a special exam means a possible expulsion.

Wow, such an important test is coming up. How fun! Saik, it's time to show them how superior you are! Yes, we'll cheat, but a win is a win! I don't care about morals anymore; I want you to win! They brought it on themselves by mocking you!

Fufu. I'm like an overprotective mother, huh?

"Teacher, isn't it a bit early?! It's only the second week!" Saoto said, worried.

His concern is understandable. This school is very, very, very expensive. If any of them get expelled, they'd be wasting a ton of money. They may be rich, but even they'd feel the pain of losing that much money.

"There's a special exam every month of the semester, except December."

That means there'll be three special exams before the semester ends. That means there could be expulsions aside from the one at the end of the semester.

This school is really weird, Saik, but also fun. It's like a TV series or something, where students have to fight each other to survive. Awesome! And since Saik can see ghosts and is the best first-year, that makes him the protagonist!

"I'll explain what the special exam will consist of, which will last two weeks. This exam is more like a test of effort and teamwork. It's very simple. You'll form teams of five people. The test will involve gathering as many positive points as possible. A test that seems simple but isn't, as gathering points is more complicated than it sounds. At the end of the special exam, the positive points each team member gathered will be added up. The best will be those with the most positive points. Of course, there are prizes. There'll be 500 positive points for the winning team, 250 for second place, 100 for third place, and 0 points for last place. Any questions?"

Oh, it sounds pretty simple. That was a good summary. I thought she'd drag on explaining rules and… Huh?

Saik raised his hand. That's weird; I thought he was still asleep.

"Saik, what do you want to ask?"

Saik lifted his head, sleepy. Yeah, he was definitely about to fall asleep, but I guess he's interested in hearing this, since his place as the best in the class is at stake.

"Will the losing team be expelled?"

"No, this is the only special exam with no risk of expulsion, unless it's discovered that you earned positive points through threats, as that would be considered cheating."

"I see… That's all."

And he went back to sleep… Ah, this slacker.

"Threats?" Ram said.

Yeah, I have that question too. Does she mean threatening teachers with their families' social power or something?

"Teacher, if we want to earn more points, what should we do?" a student said.

"As I told you before, in the school's main hallway, there's a board with tasks you can do to earn points. The soccer and basketball teams have an official match coming up soon. You're still in time to join and earn points. The tasks will also give you positive points… And betting."

Huh? Did I hear that right?

I wasn't the only one confused by that; most people are, as no one imagined that word would come out of the teacher's mouth.

Schools usually ban betting, but here it's allowed?

"B-Betting? Teacher, what do you mean by that?!"

"You can earn points by betting with other students… Well, that's one way to put it. As long as both parties agree, two people can compete against each other by betting a certain number of points."

"I-Is… that allowed?"

"It's not prohibited, but it's not recommended. The positive points you earn can be spent. How? If you got a question wrong on an exam, you can spend 100 points to correct that answer. That would save you from expulsion but put you at risk of being expelled at the end of the semester."

"100 points for a single question?"

"That's not fair."

"It's too much."

"That's why students bet their own points to earn more, but I warn you, if you reach 0 positive points, you'll be expelled."

Everyone got nervous at those cold words.

This school… is really weird.

"Of course, we're not responsible if a student refuses to pay. If you're going to bet, I recommend recording an audio or signing a contract where the involved parties state they agree to the rules and will pay the winner if they lose; that way, the school will force the students to pay the points they lost. Betting carries a lot of risks, which is why it's only allowed within the school, with witnesses. If someone threatens you to bet, report it to any teacher; it'll be investigated discreetly."

"And how can we know how many points we've earned or have?"

"In an hour, you'll receive an email. In that email, there'll be a download link for an app. In that app, you can see the points you have and the option to send points. Of course, it's constantly monitored. We'll notice if any student tries to hack the app. Naturally, those who try will be expelled. Point theft is punished with immediate expulsion. Any other questions…? No? Alright, form your teams."

"I have one about betting."

"Go ahead."

Hmm…

Oh…

I see, I see.

A summary of the teacher's long explanation.

The positive point betting system is a way to compete with other students through mutual agreements. Participants can bet a number of positive points they're willing to risk, and the winner takes the total sum of the points bet. Bets can be about anything, as long as the involved parties agree on the conditions and the result is verifiable. For example, you can bet on who'll get the highest grade on an exam, who'll win a chess match, who'll solve a riddle faster, etc.

To make a bet, participants must record an audio or sign a contract stating they agree to the rules and will pay the winner if they lose. That way, the school will force the students to pay the points they lost. If someone refuses to pay or tries to deceive the other, they'll be expelled. You can also use the app they sent to make bets, as it has a function to register agreements and transfer points automatically.

Fufu. The school knew this would happen when they designed this system, huh? It's really like a survival game.

Betting is a way to earn positive points quickly, but it's also very risky. If we lose a bet, we could end up with no points or even be expelled… Well, both are the same. 0 points equals expulsion. Plus, betting can create conflicts and rivalries among students. That's why the school doesn't recommend betting but doesn't prohibit it either. It's up to us to decide whether to bet or not.

Fufu. What a weird system, but fun!

(POV - Saik)

Ah, I see… It's a simple test, and there's no risk of expulsion.

Points are very necessary to survive. The worst students will need them to avoid failing exams. Students like Ram probably want to have a lot of points in case they're needed in the future, and knowing the school, that's very likely.

I looked up to see all my classmates.

The worst students are gathering with Saoto and Ram to get their help.

And, despite being the best student, no one approaches me.

That's because of my slacker personality and because they hate me.

Ram and Saoto have shown they care about earning points, but I've shown I don't care.

"Saik, aren't you going to get a team?"

Ah, right, Yuki. I need to make sure a certain person gets points.

(POV - Sylphie)

Everyone's started looking for a team… But… What can I do?

I'm the worst in the group. No one will want me on their team.

I'd just be a burden.

No one will want me on their team because they'll think they'll lose.

What can I do?

Maybe Saik… No… No… He's probably worried about getting points too.

I'd just be a burden to him.

"Ah, what a hassle, they interrupted my sleep."

"S-Saik?"

"Hey, Sylphie. Have you found a team yet?"

"N-No…"

"Want to be on my team?"

"Really?!"

S-Saik, you're an angel! Thank you for taking pity on me! I-I promise to be helpful!

"Hey, Saik."

Ram?

She approached us. W-What does she want?

"I'm missing a member. Want to join my team?"

… I recognize all of them. They all got over 75 points… Ram chose them for their skills… Meanwhile, I… I'm the worst.

I'm no match for them.

"Sorry, I already have a team. But I really appreciate your offer."

H-He rejected Ram?!

"Are you seriously teaming up with her?"

"That's the plan."

"Why? Don't you want to win?"

"Well… To be honest, I don't care about winning, but I don't plan on being last either."

"If you're with her, you'll be last."

… Yes… She's right about that. I can't deny that sad reality. I'm nowhere near their level. Saik and Ram are far beyond my reach; I won't be useful to him.

Because of the time I study, I won't be able to earn points by helping society.

And on weekends, I work… I'll just be a burden to Saik. I won't be able to earn many points.

He knows that… He knows…

The best thing is to step away; I don't want Saik to be affected by…

"I don't think so. I don't know if we'll be able to get enough points to be first, but at least we won't be last."

Huh? He looks so serious saying that… So… serious…

"Why are you so sure?"

"It's a hunch."

"Fufu. Well, well. That sounds fun. Alright. I'll eagerly await the results."

She and the others left… Is this okay?

I-I mean, it's fine by me, but is Saik really okay with this? I-I don't want to ruin his academic record.

"… Saik… Are you sure about this?"

"Yes, don't worry. Sylphie, do you know what's most important for improving?"

"N-No. What?"

"Not stressing and staying calm. If I'm with Ram, she'll be nagging and pressuring to earn points. The important thing is to stay calm and not panic… Sylphie, I'm sure you'll do a great job; you shouldn't underestimate yourself… So… Will you join my team?"

"Y-Yes! T-Thank you so much, Saik!"

"Great… We just need three more members."

T-Thank you so much, Saik.

I promise I'll do my best; I won't let you down. I-I'll give it my all! I-I won't disappoint you!

(POV - Saik)

To be honest, points don't matter much to me. I'll use this opportunity simply to make sure Sylphie isn't last.

I promised Noel I'd help his wife, and I promised Yuki I'd help Sylphie.

I'm a man who keeps his promises. Ah, well, I'm really doing this because in my family, we always keep promises, so I don't have a choice.

Alright, I need three more.

Hmm…

I observed everyone around me.

Danna, the cheerful and popular girl in class, has a lot of people around her.

Well, after all, she got 80 points, or so I overheard.

It'd be good to get her help, but she'll probably team up with her friends.

Let's keep looking.

Hmm… Ah, wow. There's a guy like me, sleeping.

Well, well. I thought I was the only one who dared.

I wonder if he's shy or just doesn't care about anything, like me.

I don't know him, so I don't know if he's smart or not.

There are also two other guys talking to each other; they're probably planning to be on the same team, or maybe they're so dumb they know no one will pick them and are waiting for a team to call them to fill space. I think the second option is more likely… I think their names were Bell and Naok.

Two guys. Sylphie will feel uncomfortable. They might try to flirt with her, but if I rough them up a bit, they won't do it again. Besides, with the plan I have in mind, they're not that necessary to win; I just need them to fill space. But considering my reputation as the best first-year student, that plan could fail. Having a plan B would be a good idea.

Hmm… I think I could use Naok.

Bell… Well, he'll do as filler.

Well, something's better than nothing.

I approached them.

"Would you like to join my team? I'm with Sylphie."

"Seriously?!"

"You just saved us, buddy!"

Naok hugged me with his huge arm. Gross, and he's squeezing hard. Would a normal person find this painful, or is it not a big deal?

"You'd think we'd end up on a team with the best in the class!"

"It must be our lucky day!"

Ah, I'm already regretting this, but something's better than nothing.

I can use Naok; I'll figure out how to use Bell later.

Alright, one more to go.

Most people already have teams. I need to hurry… Oh, a guy's looking for a team. I can tell easily because he's looking around. Nervous about not finding a team?

I'll ask him. I'd rather save the time of waking up and asking the sleeping guy.

I approached that guy.

"Hey, first off, I want to tell you that the smartest ones already have teams. Can you settle for a team like mine?"

Naok and Bell stood behind me… smiling and posing… Why…? Ah, I understand people less and less.

Whatever. They're the worst in the class, along with Sylphie and another girl I don't know.

Bell is fourth, the unknown girl is third, Naok is second, and Sylphie is first.

Obviously, I'm talking about the worst in the class in terms of points only.

I'd invite the girl so Sylphie has company, but that girl already has a team, and she seems a bit inappropriate. I don't judge people by their clothing, but Sylphie might, and she'd feel uncomfortable. That girl dresses very provocatively. Does she do it for comfort, or is there a hidden reason? Ah, whatever, just in case, I'll keep Yuki away from her.

Speaking of Yuki, where is she? I haven't heard her voice.

"Can I join…? Thanks, I thought I wouldn't find a team."

At least he's grateful.

… Hmm… No, I don't know him… How can I use him? I'll figure it out later.

Yuki, where are you…? Ah, I see, you're spying on Ram's team. Good job.

For now, we're complete.

With this team… Hmm… Yes, it'll be possible to achieve the goal I have in mind.

As long as nothing ruins it, everything will be fine.
