"Did this prove my capabilities?" The mountain lord asked without any sign of arrogance or any other emotion visible in his demeanor.
"That... will be enough." Ling Chuse said. "Are you sure that you are willing to serve as a bodyguard for my son on the established paying conditions?"
"Yes, like I said, I just want to have the right to quit whenever I want."
"Alright, we will draft a contract right now. Just tell me your name, and we will prepare everything else." Ling Chuse was ecstatic his son had finally succeeded at something.
"Well, that's the problem. I don't remember my name..." the mountain lord shortly told his fake story.
"Alright, I see this is bad indeed." Sadly, the martial arts master didn't have any memories and therefore no connections. "We need to put down a name, though. Getting you a passport won't be a problem, but we need a name."
The mountain lord shortly thought about a possible name before saying, "Why don't you name me for now Ling Qidong? You are my employer anyway, so that would be the best solution," his name was long lost, and the people he met along his journey decided his name. Mountain Lord was just one of these names.
I can name him. Isn't this a bit abnormal? "Yeah, sure, I guess. From now on your name will be... ähm... Li. Yes, from now on you will be my bodyguard, Li."
"Alright, I will be Li from now on."
The papers got prepared, and Li signed them. Now he was the personal bodyguard of Ling Qidong. "Your workday will be simple; you will be at my son's home at 7:30 AM every day and work until he gets home in the evening. You will be responsible for his safety, but you don't need to follow every word he says. You can make your own judgment in situations, but like I said, your main responsibility is the safety of my son," Ling Chuse explained.
Then Ling Chuse turned towards the bodyguard that Li had just defeated earlier, who had managed to stand up in the meantime. "You, show our new bodyguard his work attire and credentials."
The bodyguard, groggily and still a little fuzzy, showed Li his new working attire and badge of the Ling company. His attire was a suit, an attire seemingly unfit for fighting, but Li didn't complain. He took his job seriously and wouldn't criticize his employer right away.
He even received a guidebook for bodyguards, and after reading it, he took away two things. First, don't talk, act, or do anything but follow until danger is imminent. Secondly, the life of the employer is more than one's own life.
Quite a harsh condition; it really seems like I'm one of those elders designated to protection, yet with an even lower status. Well, at least I will see the daily life of someone from this world now. Soon he left the building, and now it was only him and his new young master, Ling Qidong.
Ling Qidong didn't speak a word and just silently walked towards his car. Right now he drove an old Porsche that his cousin gave to him, so he had decided to meet up with some of his friends to buy a new car to flaunt his wealth more effectively.
Regarding his new bodyguard, he had to establish a position of superiority in front of him, since in the end he was just an employee working for him. Li didn't mind the silence and followed Ling Qidong into his car and to the car dealership.
"Dong, how's it going?" Someone dressed in fancy clothes came up from the side.
"Hey, Weiyang, you know how it is. My dad is still mad at me for that lucky charm, but at at least I found something else," he pointed to Li. "He is my new bodyguard, Li, and he is the real deal. I saw him in action, and he is a master of martial arts."
"You got yourself a bodyguard? Lucky for you, my dad would never pay the money to hire one for me," Weiyang said and walked with him into the entrance of the dealership without giving Li a glance.
Inside, they headed straight to another wealthy-looking youth. "Hey old Ma, still stuck in here?"
"You know how it is, guys; my father wants me to inherit this dealership and makes me do the groundwork, saying it would strengthen my ability," Ma smiled wryly.
"Come on, Ma, show me around. I want to buy a car worth at least 1,000,000 yuan this time."
"1,000,000? Not bad, Dong. Did your old man finally give you some money to spend on your life?"
"It's like you said. Now let's look at some cars and impress some ladies."
The young second-generation rich kids shopped around for quite some time before Ling Qidong decided to buy a Porsche Cayenne for himself. After purchasing the car and verifying that it would be drivable, it was time for the three of them to head to a good restaurant to celebrate the purchase.
"How about the Singing Swan today? They might be too expensive, but today is a special day," Weiyang suggested.
The others were on board and soon headed towards the Singing Swan, one of the top restaurants within the city. A restaurant where even their status as rich heirs was not enough to guarantee them a private room.
Meanwhile, Li was quite excited, so young rich people are wasting their time by buying expensive metal transportation.
The group arrived at the Singing Swan and wanted to test their luck with a private room. "Greetings guests," the staff greeted them while bowing. "Sadly, there are no free tables at the moment, so please wait a little bit for some guests to go."
"Waiting? Do you even know who we are?" Dong said, with more courage than he normally had, due to his new car and the bodyguard by his side.
