Back to the present.
As memories flashed vividly through her mind, the blonde-haired girl—who had kept her composure since their reunion—took a deep, trembling breath.
"I don't want to do this anymore. I don't want to just wait helplessly for you to find me. It was like this ten years ago, and it's still the same now. If I hadn't spotted you on surveillance when you arrived on Itogami Island and rushed over in time, you'd probably vanish again, just like last time."
"Last time?"
Bokue's brows furrowed slightly in confusion.
Asagi gave a soft hum, her voice faintly nasal.
"About two months ago, I saw you appear at the port on the surveillance feed, and I hurried there immediately. But by the time I arrived, you'd already disappeared."
"Ah…"
So she meant the time he went to the Underworld to resolve Rias's engagement.
Realization dawned on Bokue.
Asagi pressed on:
"That's why I've finally realized just waiting passively won't do me any good. I need some way to actively find you myself."
"That's not too hard. Traveling from Itogami Island to Tokyo isn't complicated anyway. If you take the oceanic bullet train, it's just about two hours," Bokue considered thoughtfully, lying next to her.
"As for my home address—"
"That's not what I want."
Asagi interrupted him firmly.
"What use is knowing your address? Everyone knows exactly where the Keikain family home is in Kyoto, and yet, has it ever helped? I don't care where your house is—I want to know exactly where you are!"
Leaving Bokue no chance to breathe or evade, Asagi leaned forward aggressively, her suppressed emotions—held back for ten full years—bursting forth. Forgetting about personal space or embarrassment, she practically pressed her entire body onto his, their chests intimately meeting through the thin fabric.
"Hey, Bokue, you Onmyōji should have something like a tracking spell, right?"
Bokue hesitated slightly.
At this point, Asagi's intention was perfectly clear—she basically wanted his personal location at all times.
Certainly, location-tracking spells existed. However, the main issue was that Asagi was essentially an ordinary person. Even if he provided her a tracking charm, she couldn't activate or use it—unless…
He paused, momentarily lost in thought.
Indeed, aside from rare exceptions, most people in the world naturally possessed at least some minor amount of spiritual energy.
But since ordinary people never received formal training, even if they had spiritual power, they couldn't consciously control it, let alone activate talismans or charms.
Therefore, there was only one practical method available to meet Asagi's demand—a reversed spiritual beacon.
Similar to the spiritual beacons Bokue had previously placed on Irina and Rias, allowing him to teleport instantly to their location with just a thought.
For Asagi's case, it would require just one more step. The beacon placed upon her would actively detect when she wished to see him, after which Bokue could trigger the teleportation spell remotely, instantly bringing her straight to him.
However, this meant directly imprinting the spiritual formation onto her body. While it wouldn't hurt or be visible like a tattoo, once spiritual power entered her body…
"Hey, stop playing dead already! Answer me—is there such a technique or not?"
"Yeah, there is, but—"
"Then hurry up and do it."
Asagi's voice had a faintly threatening edge now. As she leaned over him assertively, two soft yet firm mounds pressed lightly against his chest, gently but insistently grinding.
Bokue sighed resignedly.
"Fine, fine… give me your hand."
"Here!"
Without hesitation, the moment Bokue agreed, Asagi eagerly extended her palm directly towards him.
Bokue rolled his eyes silently.
"How am I supposed to do it like this? Sit up properly first."
"Oh… okay."
Almost deliberately, Asagi obediently agreed but only partially followed instructions.
She pushed herself up using her hands pressed into the mattress on either side of Bokue, but didn't actually get off him. Instead, she repositioned herself comfortably—boldly straddling his lap like a playful duckling.
"Careful, you might fall," Bokue sighed helplessly, sitting up with her. Gently reaching out, he held her waist firmly to keep her steady.
Asagi's cheeks flushed pink. She said nothing further, though. At first, she'd pressed down so close merely to prevent him from escaping again. But somehow, she hadn't been able to hold herself back and ended up kissing him… and now, the position they were in felt dangerously close to something more intimate.
"Alright, give me your hand again."
"Here."
Bokue took the slender hand she offered. Golden spiritual power ignited delicately at his fingertip as he lightly pressed it into her palm like the stroke of a brush.
"Nnnh…!"
Asagi shivered slightly.
It was a strangely intriguing sensation. Although Bokue's spiritual energy flickered and danced like flame, it didn't burn or scorch her skin. Rather, it was warm, gentle, and slightly ticklish.
She clearly felt something mysterious flowing steadily into her body, gently gathering and expanding deep within.
"Bo…kue…"
Suddenly, Asagi murmured, her voice trembling faintly, clearly struggling to suppress something intense within.
Immediately stopping, Bokue looked up in concern.
"What's wrong? Are you feeling uncomfortable?"
"N-no… It's nothing. Please, keep going," she whispered, softly biting her lower lip as she shook her head gently.
With her reassurance, Bokue resumed drawing the spiritual formation. As more spiritual power entered her, the strange sensation within Asagi grew stronger and stronger.
It was as though her entire being was slowly being filled up, pushed to the limit. She couldn't—
Her rarely exercised abdominal muscles clenched abruptly. Still straddling Bokue's lap, Asagi quickly lowered her head, pressing her forehead firmly against his shoulder as something powerful finally surged out from deep inside her.
Almost simultaneously, Bokue finally finished inscribing the reverse spiritual beacon, slowly letting go of her hand.
"There, it's done now."
"…"
His voice faded into silence, but no reply came.
Puzzled, Bokue turned his head slightly. Up close, he saw the blonde-haired girl burying her flushed face deep into the curve of his neck, shoulders trembling lightly as soft, barely audible sobs escaped her lips.
"Hey, Asagi, are you alright?"
Gently, he patted the girl's slender waist, trying to comfort her.
But that single gentle touch seemed to shatter her remaining strength—like the last straw breaking the camel's back. The blonde girl, who had been confidently straddling his lap just a moment ago, suddenly slipped sideways. Her arms, still wrapped firmly around Bokue's neck, didn't release their grip. Instead, they dragged him right down with her.
In an instant, their positions reversed. Previously, Asagi had been assertively on top; now, she lay quietly beneath him.
Her luminous blonde hair fanned out across the bed behind her like a radiant golden halo. Slowly, Asagi opened her eyes—shimmering beautifully, filled with unshed tears. Gazing deeply into the eyes of her childhood friend, she softly whispered the words that overflowed directly from her heart:
"Bokue… Please… hold me. Right now."
