Chapter 79 - Chapter 79: The Marines' Blunder

The atmosphere on the deck was charged. The Marine warship loomed above them like a titan of metal, its soldiers shuddering with guns, ready to crush the Solar Rift Pirates. The former peaceful atmosphere of the Grand Line seemed to thrum with tension. What had started out as a peaceful evening now risked bursting into chaos.

Lieutenant Orin's cold sneer never wavered as he faced Solian. The Marine soldiers behind him did not flinch, their rifles trained on the Solar Rift Pirates. They had believed this would be a cakewalkakedown, a simple arrest of the "renegade pirates" who had dared to sail into the Grand Line. The Marines, being the World Government's iron fist, were not supposed to have anything stand in their way.

But as Orin's eyes fell on Solian's crew, something about their calmness, the fixed determination in their eyes, gave him an odd feeling of doubt. He shook it off immediately. They were pirates, for all that. Pirates could not help but succumb to the might of the Marines.

"Your last warning," Orin yelled again, his voice cold. "Surrender, and we'll show you mercy. Resist, and we'll show you none."

The crew did not move. Solian was leading, his eyes locked with the Lieutenant's, his posture relaxed but his hands poised, ready to strike.

"Mercy?" Solian laughed. "You'll find that we're not the ones who need mercy today, Lieutenant."

On Solian's command, the crew moved, each of them with purpose. It was not the frantic rush of a battle, but a fluid, coordinated strike. They had trained for this moment, and the difference in their abilities was now evident.

Vance leaped forward in a burst, his blades flashing in the fading light of evening. He was a tempest of lightning speed as he hacked through the line of Marine soldiers, his stroke after stroke measured, cutting through their ranks like a burning blade cutting through melted butter. The Marines were taken aback at the unexpected speed of attack. They never thought the pirate crew to be that powerful.

Kael, being the tactician that he is, began to have some fun with the space, employing the power of his Devil Fruit to create a river of explosive bursts of energy that blinded the Marines. He weaved through the mayhem, taking out a few armed soldiers, their shots off because of his relentless barrage.

Jorin, his own killing skills honed to a refined art, let loose his maximum potential. He moved so smooth, so refined, that he was almost as if he was not fighting, but dancing. His enemies did not even know he was attacking, falling to the ground as he danced his way through their ranks with a killing precision that left them staggering.

Lee, his usual energy high, exploded with excitement as he leaped into the fight, punching with force using his fists. His agility, powered by his rigorous training, allowed him to avoid blows and knock out his opponents with each punch.

Solian, however, was calm, his focus sharper than ever. He could feel the power of his Devil Fruit abilities flowing through him, ready to be unleashed. With a focused mind, he summoned the Solar Rift around him, the searing fiery aura surrounding his body as he ran with awe-inspiring speed. He shot forward, his body leaving behind afterimages as he weaved between the Marine troopers. As he rushed past each one, a burst of concentrated solar energy blazed from his extended hand, sending his enemies flying away in a breathtaking blast of light.

The Marine soldiers were no match for the crew's speed and power. Solian and his crew were fighting like a well-oiled machine, their abilities complementing each other perfectly. They were overpowering the Marines on every front, their strength, accuracy, and coordination much higher than what their opponents had anticipated.

As the battle raged on, Lieutenant Orin remained stationary, his confidence crumbling with every fallen Marine soldier. His eyes darted wildly back and forth between his men, then to the crew of the Solar Rift Pirates. He couldn't believe what he was seeing. The crew was meant to be a band of wild pirates, a nuisance. And yet there they were, making the Marines look utterly helpless.

Orin's thoughts were in a whirl. He had underestimated them. He had thought that a few well-positioned Marines would be enough to quash these pirates, but he had been drastically wrong. These were not your typical pirates. And he, an experienced officer, was no match for them.

"We need reinforcements!" Orin shouted, attempting to regain control. "Send in the reinforcements! Now!

But it was too late anyway. His men were dying faster than he could issue commands. The remaining Marines were in headlong retreat, realizing they were outnumbered.

In the midst of the mayhem, Solian caught Orin's eyes, and for a moment there was a wordless understanding between them. Solian did not say anything, but the intent was clear: the Marines had made a horrific mistake.

With one final, devastating strike, Vance struck Orin back, his sword flashing in the waning light. The Lieutenant, bruised and battered, fell to the deck with a thud, his face a look of shock.

Solian stood over him, his own face calm, but his eyes hard. "You should have listened. This was never your fight."

The Marine ship was in ruins, its troops vanquished. The pirates had triumphed, having comfortably outplayed the Marines who had underestimated them.

Aftermath

The crew emerged triumphant, their bodies still buzzing with adrenaline. The deck was littered with collapsed Marines, some out, others racing hysterically. The Solar Rift Pirates, on the other hand, remained in one piece, all of them standing, their confidence boosted.

Solian glanced around at his crew, a sense of pride swelling in his chest. They had come a long way since their early days, and now, they were a force to be reckoned with.

"We've only just begun," Solian said, his voice steady but filled with an undercurrent of excitement. "The Grand Line won't be easy, but we're ready."

As the crew recovered, Vance walked over to Solian with a grin on his face. "Not bad, Captain. The Marines didn't have a chance."

Kael scowled, a smile twitching on the edge of his mouth. "Underestimating us was their biggest mistake."

Jorin chuckled. "Well, they won't be the last to do that.".

Lee bounced on his feet, eager for more. "We should go after them, Captain! They won't know what hit 'em!"

Solian laughed, shaking his head. "One step at a time, Lee. We'll find out what else the Grand Line has in store for us."

As the crew settled into an uncomfortable stillness, the boom of waves striking the ship sounded nearly peaceful again. The peril had been driven away, but Solian understood that this was merely the beginning.

The Marines would come again. And they would not come quietly.
