Chapter 2 - The challenge

William Spears had never imagined himself as a father, but from the moment he took Aurelia in, his world changed. She became his everything, and he, in turn, became hers. The first time she called him "Daddy," he felt something inside him melt. It was a feeling he had never experienced before. He loved watching her grow. Her laughter was music to his ears, and when she looked up at him with those big, pleading eyes whenever she wanted something, he found himself unable to say no. For Aurelia, William was more than just a guardian. He was her father, her teacher, and her best friend. He dedicated himself to homeschooling her, ensuring she had the best education possible. But beyond academics, William knew he had to prepare her for something much more important, survival. When she turned eleven, he decided it was time to teach her how to fight. The training began with knowledge. He taught her everything he knew about demons and Shinigami, their strengths, their weaknesses, and the ways to evade them. Aurelia, being human, could not match their power, but William taught her how to use her speed, agility, and intelligence to outmaneuver her enemies. He trained her rigorously, making sure she had the best possible chance of surviving in case anything ever happened.

Years passed, and Aurelia blossomed into a formidable fighter. By the time she was twenty, she had mastered the skills William had imparted to her. But no matter how much she trained, he never allowed her to accompany him on his missions. It was the one thing she truly desired, but he always refused.

"Why won't you let me come?" she protested one evening. "I know how to protect my self, I've trained for this my whole life!"

William sighed, closing his eyes in thought. He knew how much she wanted this, but the dangers of his work were too great. However, he also knew she would never stop asking. Finally, he looked at her and spoke.

"If you truly wish to join me, you must first prove that you're ready," he said.

Aurelia's eyes sparkled with excitement. "What do I have to do?"

William smirked. "I want you to retrieve a ring for me."

She raised an eyebrow. "A ring? That's all?"

"Not just any ring," William continued. "I want the ring of Ciel Phantomhive."

Aurelia burst out laughing. "You're kidding, right? Stealing a ring? That's easy!"

William shook his head.

"You haven't heard everything yet. That ring is always worn by Ciel Phantomhive. The only time he takes it off is when he sleeps. His manor is heavily guarded by four servants, one of whom is a demon and Ciel's butler."

Aurelia's laughter faded as she listened.

"Sebastian is no ordinary butler. He is deadly, and the other three servants protecting the manor are not human either. This will not be easy. The manor is vast, and you will need to be stealthy if you wish to succeed."

Aurelia crossed her arms and smirked. "So, I just have to get past some servants? Piece of cake!"

William was pleased with her confidence, but deep down, he was concerned. The challenge he had given her was extremely dangerous. If anything went wrong, she could be killed. He had to be ready to intervene at any moment. Later that night, William led Aurelia to the Phantomhive manor. The towering structure stood ominously under the moonlight, its grandeur hiding the dangers that lurked within.

William stopped at a distance. "I will wait here," he said.

Aurelia nodded, determination shining in her eyes. This was her moment to prove herself. Taking a deep breath, she stepped forward, ready to face the challenge that would determine her future.
