In the school there was one rule: All High Heaven disciples were allowed to be challenged once every five days. Though they could at most be three levels higher, or they were allowed to decline. The winner then be able to gain contribution points, while the loser will have points deducted.
Contribution Points are also known as Main Gate Contribution Points!
In the High Heaven, contribution points are equivalent to money. If you have enough contribution points, you could exchange them for anything you want, cheats, weapons from the Main Gate Logistics Department. Points can also be exchanged for gold and silver, but generally speaking these contributions were hard-won, and the disciples were generally reluctant to exchange it for that.
There were also many different ways to obtain these points. You can exchange them through the treasure hunt, completing tasks, etc.
The most common way to earn contribution points was to challenge others! The duels were to test their strength against other disciples, and if they won they earned contribution points.
That was why, early in the morning, a crowd gathered around Yang Kai .
Yang Kai's name, in the school could be considered famous. Not only because he carried the identity of a trial disciple, but also because he was still in Sky Terrace. Also every time someone challenged him, he lost.
Yang Kai could already guess what was happening before he even opened his eyes from analyzing the usual tropes in cultivation novels he already have the inkling of the situation.
His mind much clearer than before.
Fragments of memory surfaced—memories that weren't his. The routines of High Heaven, the daily struggles, the countless defeats he had suffered. It was strange. He had these memories, but he felt detached from them, as if they belonged to someone else.
"So, it's what it feel likes reborn?"
The first thing he noticed was his body.
Weak. Too thin. Malnourished. The lack of proper nutrition was obvious in his sluggish movements, the way his muscles felt empty.
"This body is in bad shape. Even if I know how to fight, I can't expect it to keep up."
He sighed inwardly. At least the memories of martial arts were intact that he earn by practicing in previous world .
If there was one thing his predecessor did well, it was being stubborn. Never refusing a fight. Never backing down. It had earned him nothing but bruises, but at least he had learned to take a hit.
And today? Today, he had to use everything he knew.
In position, Yang Kai shouted out two words, "Please instruct!"
The crowd chuckled. They already knew the outcome.
His opponent today was Zhou Ding Jun. Fifth Stage of the Tempered Body. Two full realms above him. Well-fed. Stronger. He didn't even look worried—just mildly impatient.
"The power gap is obvious. If I fight him head-on, I lose. Simple as that."
But he had no intention of refusing.
The fight began.
Yang Kai moved first. It was always better to control the pace. He launched a punch straight to Zhou Ding Jun's chest. A basic move, predictable but solid.
As expected, Zhou Ding dodged effortlessly.
"His reaction speed is good. He didn't even need to step back—just shifted slightly. He's used to fighting weaker opponents."
Yang Kai followed up with a tiger fist. Powerful, direct, but nothing special. Zhou Ding Jun dodged again.
Then counterattacked.
A fist came straight toward him.
Yang Kai barely had time to react, but his body moved instinctively—twisting just enough to avoid a direct hit.
Still, pain exploded in his ribs.
"Even a glancing blow hurts this much? I need to be more careful."
Suppressing the pain, Yang Kai retreated, keeping his stance balanced.
"Eh?" Zhou Ding Jun raised an eyebrow. Surprised.
"He didn't expect me to dodge at all. He thought I'd take the hit head-on."
That little moment of hesitation—it told Yang Kai everything he needed to know.
Zhou Ding Jun wasn't used to adapting.
But what did it matter? The difference in strength was still too great. Even if he saw an opening, he didn't have the power to take advantage of it.
"I need to push my limits. Even if I lose, I need to figure out how much I can endure. How far I can go."
Again. And Again. And Again.
He stepped forward again.
A low kick. Blocked.
A punch. Dodged.
Another counterattack. Hit.
Yang Kai flew back, landing hard on the ground.
The crowd laughed. Someone muttered, "Here we go again."
He exhaled slowly. The pain was real. But it wasn't unbearable.
He got up.
"Again."
Zhou Ding Jun frowned. "You're seriously getting up?"
Yang Kai didn't answer. Instead, he charged forward again.
Three feet away, he shifted suddenly and swept his leg low—an unexpected leg whip.
Zhou Ding Jun reacted a second too late. His balance wobbled slightly.
But that was all.
Yang Kai felt a sudden impact—he was the one sent flying again.
"Tch. My body's too weak. Even if I land a hit, I can't generate enough force to matter."
"Again!"
The fight continued.
Yang Kai attacked. Fell. Got up.
Attacked. Fell. Got up.
The more he fought, the more he understood his new body.
His strength was lacking. His speed was barely acceptable. His endurance…
Was better than expected.
The murmurs in the crowd began to change.
"Why is he still standing?"
"Is he insane?"
Zhou Ding Jun sighed in frustration. "Are you crazy? Just give up before you actually break something."
Zhou Ding felt real bitter. He hadn't imagined that his opponent was such a crazy person.
Yang Kai wiped the blood from his mouth. His breath was ragged, but his mind was clear.
He had already learned what he wanted to from this fight.
"I can't win today. But next time…"
"I'll be stronger."
He exhaled, rolling his shoulders. The pain was still there, but he could ignore it.
Within the Tower disciples' internal struggles, every year there are many who die. Zhou Ding Jun seeing this unflinching and courageous brother, couldn't help but feel a bit alarmed.
When he thought that, Zhou Ding Jun knew he couldn't reach such a degree and was afraid that he would have to surrender.
Zhou Ding Jun knew that if he didn't settle things now, then there will be no end.
Thinking of this, Zhou Ding Jun rushed forward to execute a palm knife to Yang Kai's neck bone. Yang Kai with an imposing manner swiftly escaped.
Tens of feet above them, a disciple sat on a tree branch.
She watched the fight unfold, then calmly took out a small book.
Flipping to a new page, she wrote:
Trial Disciple Yang Kai vs. Ordinary Disciple Zhou Ding Jun.
Outcome: Zhou Ding Jun wins.
