"What's happening?" Zion asked, confused by the sudden turn of events. I was taken aback, thinking Alpha Zach was playing a prank until Zeke squirmed out of Zion's grasp. As soon as he hit the floor gently, Zeke stood up and walked over to his father, looking up at him with a questioning gaze.
"Daddy, do you hate me?" Zeke's first words brought tears to my eyes, a mix of joy and confusion. Until now, Zeke had only mastered sitting and had never attempted to crawl, let alone walk. It seemed he had saved this milestone for his father. How unexpected.
"What's going on? Isn't he just four months away from turning five?" Elisa inquired, trying to make sense of the situation as Zion tried to revive Alpha Zach.
"Zach, wake up. What's happening?" Zion's attempts to rouse him were met with silence. Without hesitation, Zion lifted Alpha Zach onto his shoulder and hurried out of the room.
