Chapter 193 - The "Gift" That Bites Back

The cold storage unit in the "Lord's Manor Resort" was indeed one of Site-CN-02's entrances—but it was a freight passage.

Did Foundation personnel really commute through a freezer every day?

Obviously not.

And Luo Shu hadn't spotted any staff entering or exiting via the freezer in the surveillance footage.

That meant Site-CN-02 had to have another entrance, just like Site-19's magic mirror.

If he could find that, he wouldn't have to squeeze into the freezer elevator on a tight schedule.

A proper personnel entrance would give him far more freedom and time.

So Luo Shu began wandering the hotel, searching for clues.

This wasn't easy.

Back at Site-19, he'd only found the mirror entrance because Big Beard Jack led him there.

Here, it was even harder.

Who knew if the entrance was a mirror in some corner, or even the fountain in the lobby?

And even if he found it, how was he supposed to activate it? Step through? Speak a password?

Ugh. Whatever.

Nothing in life came easy—you just had to try your best.

But his suspicious behavior quickly drew attention.

This wasn't a real hotel—it was a Foundation front. "He Tu," the unwanted guest who'd forced his way in, was now poking around everywhere.

He was practically begging to be contained.

Everywhere Luo Shu went, "hotel staff" intercepted him.

"Mr. He, what are you doing here? Need help? Your room's that way."

"Oh, just admiring the architecture! Never stayed in a European-style manor before."

Luo Shu played dumb, ignoring their obvious attempts to shoo him away.

Eventually, the "hotel" had enough and sent a security agent disguised as the front desk manager to intercept him.

"Mr. He, heard you wanted a tour? Let me show you around!"

"Haha, sure! Thanks!" Luo Shu saw right through the act.

Perfect. Thanks for leading me straight to the answer.

What?

You think the agent would avoid the real entrance and steer him elsewhere?

Exactly.

But that meant the avoided areas were exactly where the entrance had to be.

After the "tour," Luo Shu had it figured out.

The manor-style hotel had five floors:

1F: Lobby & restaurant

2F: Conference rooms, gym, KTV, sauna

3F-5F: Guest rooms & offices

Luo Shu's room was on the east side of the 5th floor—but the agent had deliberately avoided the west side of the 3rd floor.

The farthest possible diagonal.

Bingo.

Site-CN-02's entrance was likely somewhere on the 3rd floor's west corridor.

Narrowing it down made the next step easier.

After parting ways with the "manager," Luo Shu headed straight for the 3rd-floor west wing.

Just then, a group of sharp-suited men emerged from the corridor—looking like corporate execs on a retreat.

But Luo Shu spotted the blindfolded old man emblem on their lapels.

He triggered his Class-W Mnestic Enhancer, digging through his memory.

MTF-Theta-18 ("Blind Bard")—Site-CN-02's intelligence task force.

This unit handled one anomaly only: SCP-CN-698 (Argus).

The moment they saw Luo Shu, their leader stepped forward.

"Sir, are you lost? This wing is privately booked."

Luo Shu played along. "Ah, my mistake. Leaving now."

Now he was certain—the entrance was here.

Brilliant design, really. Who'd think to look upstairs for an underground site?

He'd return at midnight, once Unobservable State reactivated.

After another outrageously priced dinner, he prepared to sleep early, planning his next move.

Then—a knock at the door.

Who the hell was visiting at this hour?

Luo Shu tensed. As a Foundation fugitive, he was on high alert—The Administrator and Achilles' Heel's Barbie were both hunting him.

He flipped open the Anomalous Item Compendium, ready to activate an ability.

"Who is it?"

"Room service, Mr. He!"

If this were a real hotel, maybe he'd buy it.

But this was a Foundation front. What "room service"?

Might as well say, "Open up, we're here to 'adjust your water meter.'"

"I didn't order room service."

"As a thank-you for staying three nights, we have a small gift for you!"

Oh, so the 8,888-RMB-per-night scam came with a freebie?

The key to avoiding scams? Don't let greed cloud your judgment.

But refusing to open the door wasn't an option—this was their turf.

Luo Shu hooked the security chain, then cracked the door open—

A hand shot through, wielding a spray canister.

PSSSHHH—

"Here's your gift."
