Chapter 217 - Each Showing Their Mettle

Just as "The Master" had predicted, Loshu was indeed lurking across the street, observing Site-CN-02's response to the "He Tu Disappearance Case."

Unfortunately, Loshu had no idea he wasn't dealing with ordinary Site-CN-02 personnel but with Achilles' Heel—a team of reality benders!

He pulled out his phone, connecting to the surveillance network he'd set up inside the "Baron Manor Resort Hotel," monitoring the situation inside.

"White Eyes" saw this and immediately reported: "The Master was right! Loshu has hacked the hotel's surveillance! We need to be careful!"

The Master quickly devised a countermeasure.

"Aeolus, keep moving! The rest of you, split into two groups. Those who've met Loshu before, stay inside. The rest, disguise yourselves as hotel staff and head to the lobby—but don't look in his direction!"

Barbie gritted her teeth. "How do we get out? Most of our field team has met him before. Only two or three of you haven't!"

The Master glanced at her imposing figure and thought to himself: You're the last person who should go out. Unless Loshu's blind, he'll spot you instantly.

But he didn't dare say that to her face. Instead, he turned to White Eyes.

"Where's his surveillance focused? I need to plan around it."

"Hmm… Right now, he's watching the lobby… then his room… then Room 302… He's got eyes on almost every critical area!"

This answer made The Master frown.

He had no choice but to ask the Site-CN-02 Security Director for help.

"Director, is there another exit?"

Humiliated by Loshu's free movement inside Site-CN-02, the Security Director was eager to see Achilles' Heel take him down.

So he led Barbie's team to the freight passage—the one connected to the kitchen's cold storage.

What they didn't know was that this passage was also under Loshu's surveillance.

But luckily, Loshu wasn't paying attention to it—he hadn't expected The Master to outmaneuver him.

Through the freight passage, Barbie, White Eyes, and Cupid successfully reached the hotel kitchen.

From there, they slipped out the back door into a blind spot—one The Master had engineered.

He'd instructed Site-CN-02's monitoring room to manually adjust the cameras, deliberately leaving this area uncovered.

Standing in this artificial blind spot, Barbie and Cupid could now observe Loshu across the street with binoculars.

Barbie was itching to act. So close, yet she couldn't just charge out and fight him yet.

But she trusted The Master's plan.

Against a fox like Loshu, brute force wouldn't work!

Meanwhile, Loshu—still unaware he was being watched—continued monitoring the hotel's cameras.

Something felt off.

The hotel was too quiet.

His room was empty.

This wasn't how a site should react after a high-profile disappearance!

After a moment's thought, he switched his phone back to his room's feed and started rewinding the footage.

White Eyes, still tracking Loshu's every move, reported:

"He's looking at his room again. Wait—what's he doing?"

The Master tensed. "What? Explain!"

White Eyes watched as Loshu's screen showed Site-CN-02 investigators moving backward—rewinding the footage.

"He's watching the playback!"

The Master's heart sank.

If Loshu kept rewinding, he'd soon see Barbie's unmistakable figure in the recordings!

Thinking fast, The Master barked into his tactical terminal:

"'Power'! Cut the lights!"

"Power", another Achilles' Heel member disguised as hotel staff, stopped in his tracks near Room 302.

"Clear out! I'm activating!"

As his teammates scattered, electric arcs crackled across Power's body.

The moment they touched the hotel's wiring—

BOOM!

The power grid outside overloaded, and the entire hotel plunged into darkness.

Loshu's phone screen went black.

Now he knew something was wrong.

A Site-CN-02 front facility like this had its own independent power supply.

Blackouts didn't just happen.

And for it to fail exactly when he was reviewing footage?

Too convenient.

Someone was hiding something.

Loshu's expression darkened as he looked up at the hotel.

After a moment's hesitation, he turned to leave.

Now wasn't the time.

Barbie saw this and roared into her comms:

"HE'S RUNNING! AFTER HIM!"

The Master quickly stopped her. "Boss, wait! He hasn't spotted us yet! He's just being cautious!"

Barbie forced herself to calm down.

Right. Loshu was leaving because the hotel felt unsafe, not because he'd detected Achilles' Heel.

The Master continued: "Loshu's been missing for two days. He knows Site-CN-02 would investigate, so he won't walk in blindly. Him leaving actually works in our favor!"

Barbie frowned. "How?"

"The hotel's surveillance is compromised. Here, we're at a disadvantage. But if he goes somewhere else—we become the hunters."

Cupid couldn't resist chiming in. "Or I could just put an arrow through his skull now and save us the trouble."

Barbie shot him a glare. "We're taking him alive. He knows too much."

White Eyes suddenly spoke up. "Loshu's moving. His target—a nearby guesthouse."

The Master's voice turned sharp.

"All units, pursue! Prepare to engage!"
