Before the next day even arrived, Akio couldn't contain his excitement and immediately sought out Tobirama.
After explaining his purpose, Tobirama sighed helplessly.
"Second Grandpa, you... learned how to forge weapons?"
"What do you mean 'learned'?! I already knew how! Look at these two shuriken in my hands—both personally forged by me!" Akio felt insulted.
Tobirama examined the two shuriken in Akio's hands. On the surface, they looked ordinary, no different from standard-issue shuriken.
That's what Tobirama thought, and it's exactly what he said: "These are just standard shuriken, aren't they?"
"Look closely! Stare at them! Open your eyes wide!" Akio said angrily, infusing chakra into the shuriken. A dazzling light burst forth from the weapons.
"See it now?" Akio asked smugly.
"Uh... I can't see anything right now," Tobirama rubbed his eyes and smiled wryly.
Akio: "..."
After an hour of demonstrations, Tobirama finally, though reluctantly, accepted that Akio could indeed forge weapons.
"Second Grandpa, you said you'd forge a sword for me. I have no objections, but it's already late. The forge should be closing. Let's go tomorrow." Tobirama said helplessly.
"No worries, it's still open. We'll go now, and I'll close it after we're done," Akio said with a grin.
Seeing no way to escape, Tobirama could only sigh and follow Akio.
However, halfway there, a Chūnin stopped them.
"Lord Tobirama, the clan leader is looking for you!"
Tobirama looked pleased, while Akio appeared resigned as he followed Tobirama to the clan leader's hall. He was curious about what Hashirama needed so late at night.
"Tobirama, you're here." Hashirama said. "There was an accident at the forge."
"What happened, Brother?" Tobirama asked curiously.
"One of the forges exploded. It looks like someone had previously slashed it open with a sharp weapon."
Akio's face darkened instantly.
Seeing Akio's reaction, Hashirama sighed, "Second Grandpa... that wasn't your doing, was it?"
"I... might have done that by accident," Akio admitted sheepishly.
"Forget it. Fortunately, only two blacksmiths suffered minor injuries. Just be more careful next time..." Hashirama had no choice but to let it go.
"Right, I'll be careful... I'll go heal those two blacksmiths." Akio muttered, deciding against dragging Tobirama to the forge that night.
Watching Akio leave, Tobirama breathed a sigh of relief.
"Brother, Second Grandpa insists on forging a sword for me. I—"
"It's fine, Tobirama. If needed, we can always reforge it," Hashirama consoled him.
Sure enough, the next morning, Akio found Tobirama and dragged him to the forge.
Tobirama sighed. "Second Grandpa, you could have just given me the sword after forging it. Why bring me here?"
"How could it be the same?" Akio glared at him. "Watching your own weapon being forged is a completely different experience!"
"What's the difference..." Tobirama started to argue but noticed that Akio had already begun working.
With no other choice, Tobirama stood by and observed. As he watched, he gradually relaxed. Compared to a few days ago, Akio's forging had become more refined and systematic. Instead of looking chaotic, his movements had an unexpected sense of artistry.
"Artistry? I must be going crazy..." Tobirama muttered to himself.
Half a day passed, and Akio completed the sword. At least in Tobirama's eyes, the weapon was a success.
"Try it out!" Akio handed the sword to Tobirama.
Tobirama swung it a few times, nodding in satisfaction. "Not bad. Feels smooth, and the weight is just right."
Akio handed him a kunai. "Try cutting this. Don't worry, it won't break."
Tobirama nodded and struck the kunai with the sword, slicing it cleanly in half.
"What a fine blade!" Tobirama exclaimed, delighted.
"Fine blade? This is a divine weapon!" Akio's face flushed with excitement as he poured a large amount of lightning-natured chakra into the sword.
"Now, it's truly complete."
Tobirama took the sword again and channeled chakra into it. The blade immediately emitted a blinding white light.
Tobirama's face darkened. More blinding white light...
Before he could ask Akio about his apparent obsession with white light, he felt a sensation—this sword could cut through anything.
"Let's go to the First Training Ground and test it," Akio suggested, seeing Tobirama's hesitation.
At the training ground, Akio explained, "The sword's blade is composed of a massive amount of Lightning Release chakra, transformed into a sword of light. It can deflect most ninjutsu. Anyone struck by it will be electrocuted and paralyzed. It can cut through anything. The blade can retract into the hilt, making it lightweight and easy to carry."
Hearing this, Tobirama tried retracting the blade and found that it worked.
"It can deflect most ninjutsu?" Tobirama was skeptical.
"Let's test it! Rasengan!" Akio shouted, forming a Rasengan and attacking Tobirama.
Tobirama swung the sword, slicing the Rasengan in half.
"An A-rank jutsu, directly cut through?!" Tobirama was stunned.
"Not just A-rank. Giant Rasengan!"
Tobirama instinctively swung his sword, cutting the Giant Rasengan in two as well.
"Now, for non-energy-based attacks! Wind Release: Pressure Damage! Earth Release: Earth Dragon Bullet!"
Tobirama sliced through them effortlessly. Seeing Akio preparing more, he quickly stopped him.
"Enough, Second Grandpa! I feel like you're just using me for target practice. Just hit me with your strongest jutsu!"
"Strongest jutsu?" Akio smirked mischievously. "Are you sure?"
Tobirama sensed danger but felt confident in his sword. After all, he had already seen Akio's strongest jutsu in the battle against Kaguya.
"Sage Art: Wind Release—Rasen Shuriken!" Akio shouted, launching Naruto's signature jutsu.
Tobirama's expression twisted in horror. "Second Grandpa, are you trying to kill me?!" He immediately used the Flying Thunder God Technique to escape.
The Rasen Shuriken obliterated a large portion of the training ground, but Akio wasn't entirely satisfied.
"As expected, its power still doesn't compare to Hashirama's True Several Thousand Hands..."
Tobirama reappeared beside Akio, his face black with fury.
"Alright, don't be mad," Akio chuckled. "You were disrespectful to your grandpa, daring to ask me to attack with my strongest jutsu."
"Satisfied with your new weapon? Give it a name!"
After calming down, Tobirama said, "I'm satisfied. Since it's infused with Lightning Release chakra, let's call it the Sword of the Thunder God."
Just what I was waiting for!
Akio saw a familiar row of kanji flash before his eyes: "Witnessed and completely altered a branch storyline in the Naruto world: Sword of the Thunder God. Earned Witness Points: 2 (*10)."
Completely altered? *10 multiplier?
Right! Unlike in the original story, this Sword of the Thunder God wouldn't be destroyed by Naruto and Sasuke's Rasengan and Chidori!
This was a huge win!
