On the way to the dorm, I couldn't help but sigh, lamenting my lack of courage as I prioritized safety above all else, wanting to avoid risks so early in the school year, especially when our behavior is being monitored. I could only hope that no one in our grade would dare explore the school from tomorrow onwards or even later during the afternoon since it was only around two and a half p.m. And even if they do, I hope they avoid the upperclassmen's floors, but the possibility they do is high.
That said, if I was able to discover all these hidden details of the S-System on my own, even if the president's questions guided me, then I'm sure everyone else should be able to do the same, but with even greater ease, so future competitions between classes may be difficult.
A little depressed at this thought, this feeling quickly dissipated when I finally reached my destination. I was surprised to see four apartment buildings instead of one small building like my old high school dormitory, as I had initially imagined.
I guess they had a lot of money to spend or it was just what you'd expect from an elite school.
Without further ado, I headed to the first building where my room was supposed to be, making my way to the reception desk where I received a keycard for the room [21] and a handbook containing information about the dorm's rules.
So, I'm living on the first floor... That's kind of neat, I don't even need to use the elevator.
As I headed to my room, I quickly flipped through the handbook, which only detailed the basic information we needed for our daily routines. The dates and times for garbage disposal, how to properly separate the trash, and a notice about avoiding excessive noise in the hallways are included.
There is no mention of noise coming from inside the rooms, which caused me to believe they may be soundproof, but I'm not really sure. I should take a walk around during the evening, trying to listen to people inside their rooms... Nah. Thinking about it, that's a creepy idea, sneaking around like some stealthy pervert, eavesdropping on strangers. I'm not that desperate for information… Well, I'm sure I'll find out eventually, so there's no need for me to act like a ninja.
There was also a note about not wasting water, gas, or electricity; however, they didn't place any restrictions on them. I thought we didn't have to pay living expenses while we lived here when we enrolled because the school would deduct them from our Private Points once we were taught about the S-System, but it seems I was wrong.
That said, I'm quite surprised that the dormitories are co-ed, considering there are four buildings. The first seven floors above the ground floor are dedicated to male students, while the upper seven floors are for female students.
I am no stranger to such an arrangement since I once lived in such a dorm during my university days in France. However, for a country as strict as Japan, I thought they wouldn't allow this to happen. At the very least, they did establish rules saying that "unsuitable romantic relationships" were frowned upon...
Who are you trying to kidding? Trying to tell a hormone-addled child that sex is strictly forbidden is like telling a carnivore to go vegan, they'll never listen.
Well, it's not like it concerns me since there's only kids around, with no doting mature women around, so I don't really care about those rules. And even if it did, as one gray raccoon said, 'Rules are made to be broken!' Oh no, it wasn't a racoon, it was Douglas MacArthur. Still, I wonder how many rules I'll break in the next three years, just thinking about it makes me feel a little excited.
Once I arrived at my door, unlocking it with the keycard I was given, I went inside and was pleased to see the room was quite spacious, about thirteen cubic meters, which is much better than the nine cubic meters room I used to live in during my university years.
There's an already-made bed, a small desk in the corner, a closet, a kitchenette and a bathroom with both a bathtub and shower head inside... and a toilet. I'm not really fond of toilets being part of the bathroom, but it's better than a communal shower room, so I won't complain.
That said, I'm quite happy that I have a kitchenette. I'll be able to cook my own food as I like, especially during my free time. But looking around, I couldn't see any utensils and the like, making me sigh, making a small note of going to buy them later, especially a rice cooker. As an Asian, I can't imagine myself not eating rice.
That aside, now that I'm completely alone, I can check out that Gamer system I received in class.
As I lay on the bed, closing my eyes, I willed the RPG character sheet-like window I had seen earlier to appear, a blue screen soon manifesting in my mind.
Name: Kokonoe Sora
Lvl: 1
EXP: 0/100
STR: 9
DEX: 9
CON: 9
INT: 9
WIS: 9
CHA: 9
Gold: 2500 G
Skills: /
Feats: /
So, I got the usual RPG stats, some gold and a space for skills and... feats? I wonder what they are supposed to be... Still, I'm a bit surprised that my stats are all nine. I'm not really sure why they are so balanced... Hm?
I blinked when a new blue screen appeared in the corner of my vision and I couldn't help but frown when I saw the information displayed on it.
The average statistic for an adult man is 10.
So... does that mean that I'm below average in every domain? This must be a joke... Oh.
Strength (Measures physical power) - 9 : Has trouble even lifting heavy objects.
It's not my original body, so it's not my fault. But I guess it's not that surprising, seeing how this body is kind of lanky.
Dexterity (Reflects agility, reflexes, balance and physical precision) - 9 : Somewhat slow, occasionally trips over own feet.
That's kind of exaggerated. I mean, I'm not Yuuki Rito, and I wouldn't stumble around everywhere. At least, I didn't on my way to the dorm or anywhere today.
Constitution (Represents health, stamina, and resilience) - 9 : Easily winded, incapable of a full day's hard labor. Also prone to disease.
I should really start working out for my own health...
Intelligence (Indicates mental acuity, speed of thoughts and memory) - 9 : Tend to think slowly, forgets most unimportant things.
It's better to take your time than to rush. Also, if there's things that aren't important, then there's no reason to remember them, that's what I believe in... I forgot to ask the president about the camera in the student council room... Shit...
Wisdom (Relates to perception, insight, and willpower) - 9 : Forgets or opts not to consider options before taking action.
Sure, I'm not the brightest guy around. Don't blame me for that.
Charisma (Governs social interactions, persuasion, and leadership): Something of a bore or makes people mildly uncomfortable.
Thank you for telling me something I don't already know... Seriously, I'm not sure if the system is dissing me or not. Damn, I guess the only good things about this body is a handsome face, a tall body and a huge dick… That said, there must be some way to raise my stats since there's an experience bar and levels.
Holding on some hope, I tried my best and browsed the system for more information and clues and, to my joy, I found a space dedicated to quests, with three of them already present.

100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups, 100 squats, and a 10-kilometer run every day... Isn't that Saitama's training? Ugh, I just hope I won't turn bald by the time I graduate. Oh, but Jinwoo from Solo Leveling turned up from a twink to a hunk in a few months by doing the same training. Perhaps I'll do the same.
The Discipline To Become Enlightened
Weekly Quest
Do Daily:
Gain Knowledge for 2 hours
(Time spent in class is excluded)
[0/7]
Reward:
Choose between:
+ 1 Point to INT
+ 1 Point to WIS
+ 1 Point to CHA
+ 500 Gold
+ 5 EXP
Penalty
- 1 Random Mental Attribute Point

Gain knowledge for two hours outside of class? It sounds... kind of easy. I wonder if there's a library in this school. I want to try and see if reading an adventure book, for example, would count as gaining knowledge since I'd learn something I didn't know prior to this. I think I'll do that tomorrow. And while I'm glad those are decent rewards, given that they are weekly, I'm not too happy that there's also a penalty for not completing them. Well, it'll give me some motivation, at the very least.
After all, it's against my code as a gamer to never miss daily tasks in my favorite video games.
Seeker of Truth
Unique Quest
Discover the information about the school that is hidden by the institution.
Reward:
Reward proportional to the information found.
Penalty:
Failure to uncover the truth may change the course of events.
So, even my deal with Hoshinomiya became a quest. I wonder if it's easy to get them. Still, "Failure to uncover the truth may change the course of events" sounds really ominous. It's a good thing that I've already collected quite a bit of information thanks to my agreement with the president. I do wonder what will happen if I failed to collect information, will it increases the difficulty of my next quests... No, no need to think about what ifs. What is done is done, no need to think further.
That aside, what else can the system offer me... Oh, there's even a store. Well, thinking about it, that's not really surprising since the amount of gold I had on me is mentioned in the stat sheet. From what I can see, it only offers me five items per week and they are refreshed every week. It's similar to a gacha game shop.
Looking at the items proposed, I couldn't help but to be surprised at the three last.
Soap (2 Gold): A commodity used for bathing.
Bell (100 Gold): An ordinary bell that can produce a sound that can be heard up to 60 feet away.
Cook's Utensils (100 Gold): An Artisan's Tool, containing a pot, a pan, a knife, a ladle, salt and pepper.
Ability: Wisdom
Utilize: Improve food's flavor (DC 10), or detect spoiled or poisoned food (DC 15)
Craft: Food and Drink
Animal Handling [Skill] (5.000 Gold): A Wisdom-based skill. When dealing with animals, Animal Handling is called upon to determine how well that goes. Situations that might call for it range from calming a spooked horse or agitated wild animal, or petting a creature you find. It may also be used when trying to figure out an animal's intentions and instincts.
Potion of Healing [Common] (5.000 Gold): When you drink this potion, minor injuries are healed without any complications. The potion's red liquid glimmers when agitated.
So I can buy skills and seemingly magical items like potions, and it seems there are different levels, if the [Common] is to be believed. Still, they are quite costly... That aside, it seems that this Cook's Utensils can be used for actions requiring stat checks. This is quite interesting. It's pretty affordable and likely useful, so I should buy and test it…
Just as I tried to buy the tool, I frowned when I felt my phone vibrate, prompting me to open my eyes and check it out, only to see I received a message from Ichinose.
[I am planning to go to the cafeteria with some of our classmates for lunch, do you want to join us?]
Speaking of lunch, I haven't eaten anything since this morning, I'm starting to get hungry... It's also a good opportunity to see how much school meals cost.
[Sure, I'm coming. Where's the cafeteria, by the way?]
As I sent my answer to Ichinose, I got up from my bed and headed towards the door, ready to depart.
I don't want to give my new classmate a bad impression if I arrived late and kept them waiting after telling them I was joining them.
