Gorath stood in the middle of the slaughter field, thick blood still dripping from his claws. His breathing was heavy, but his eyes shone with an unquenchable fire. His body was growing accustomed to the brutal combat, and the sensation of his ever-increasing power made him thirstier for more.
The hobgoblins he had just slain were his strongest opponents yet, but they were still no real threat. The world must hold stronger creatures, and Gorath promised himself that he would continue to grow until none could match his strength.
Suddenly, his keen ears caught a faint sound in the distance.
The sound of footsteps. Many.
He turned, straining his ears. From behind the dense trees, figures emerged. This time, it was not just ordinary goblins or hobgoblins. They came in far greater numbers.
An army.
Dozens of goblins with glowing green eyes gathered under the command of a larger creature—a hobgoblin with thicker armor and deadlier weapons. Not only that, among them was another different humanoid figure.
A Goblin Shaman.
The creature wore a black robe covered in strange symbols, and in his hand was a staff that glowed faintly with a bluish-green light. Unlike ordinary goblins who looked savage and mindless, the shaman had a sharp, calculating gaze.
"The orcs who slaughtered our children…" the Goblin Shaman's voice was low, but full of hatred. "Do you think you can get away with it?"
Gorath grinned. "I never planned to run away. You came alone… It only meant more meat for me."
The goblins behind the shaman moved restlessly, but their leader remained calm.
"Attack."
In an instant, dozens of goblins rushed at him with their weapons drawn. Some held crude swords, others only used daggers or wooden spears. But their numbers were overwhelming.
Gorath sighed and lowered his body. His claws tensed, his muscles ready to explode. He had only one thing to say.
"Rise from the darkness…"
The air around him vibrated, power flowing through his body.
"Feel the wrath that tears this world apart…"
His eyes glowed bright red.
"BERSERKER'S WRATH!"
BOOM!
A burst of blood-red aura enveloped his body, and in an instant he disappeared from where he stood. The goblins in the front row had no time to react as Gorath appeared among them, tearing one after another with incredible speed.
Flesh ripped. Bones shattered. Screams of death echoed.
In less than five seconds, ten goblins were torn to pieces.
But they were not the only enemies.
From behind, armored hobgoblins swung their great axes, trying to hit Gorath with brutal force.
However, his body, enveloped in red energy, was now faster than ever. He dodged with ease, then jumped behind the hobgoblin, grabbed its head and…
CRACK!
In one swift motion. The hobgoblin's neck snapped instantly.
"Impossible!" shouted the Goblin Shaman, who watched the massacre with wide eyes. "Are you a monster?!"
Gorath turned his head, staring at him with bloodlust.
"I am more than that."
The shaman raised his staff, chanting a spell hurriedly. In an instant, a ball of green fire shot towards Gorath.
He just grinned.
As the fireball almost touched him, Gorath reached out and…
BOOM!
The green flames exploded, but Gorath remained standing amidst the smoke, unharmed.
"Interesting spell. But it's not enough."
The shaman stepped back, terrified. However, before he could cast another spell, Gorath was already upon him.
With one brutal move, he grabbed the shaman's head and…
CRUSH!
Green blood flowed freely.
The remaining goblin troops could only stand there trembling.
The shaman was dead. Their leader had fallen.
And now, they had only one choice—to flee.
But Gorath would not let his prey escape so easily.
With his newfound strength, he charged forward, hunting down each and every goblin that tried to flee. Their screams echoed through the dark forest, until finally, not a single one was left standing.
Ding!
[You have consumed the Goblin Shaman. Ability gained: Dark Flame Lv.1]
[You have consumed the Hobgoblin Warrior. Ability gained: Berserker Strength Lv.2]
Gorath stared at his hands, feeling new strength flowing through him.
He had grown stronger.
But this was still not enough.
There were still many creatures out there stronger than him.
And he would hunt them all.
