The team arrived at Pablo Lorenzo's house, armed and ready, feeling the tension in the air. The night was thick, and an unnatural mist floated around the structure as if the darkness itself had clung to its foundations. The creaking of the old wood echoed with every step, amplifying the feeling that something was deeply wrong.
Ruwi pushed the door, which creaked open with a ghostly sound. The interior was immersed in an oppressive darkness, as if the light itself had been devoured. The air was thick and heavy with a musty smell and something else, something rancid and disturbing. Daniel checked his GPS, frowning.
—He should be here—he said in a tense voice.
—Where is he?—Valeria asked, her gaze sweeping the room for any sign of life.
—I don't know, friend—Rosenda whispered, feeling a chill run down her spine.
A spectral cold descended upon them when, suddenly, the darkness thickened as if it had weight, swallowing every trace of light. The pressure in the air became unbearable, and a voice resonated with a mocking, icy tone.
—Well, well, look who the chosen ones of Jesus are. When was the last time you showed up? I suppose it was seven months ago—Lucifer emerged from the shadows, his figure both radiant and terrifying at the same time. His malicious smile froze the blood of those present.
His pale skin glowed with an unnatural shine, and his eyes, as black as the abyss, dripped with mockery and intelligence. His large, majestic wings seemed to be cut by a dark energy that twisted around him. With every word he spoke, his voice reverberated on the walls, as if the house itself was listening.
—Where is Pablo Lorenzo?—Daniel asked, his voice vibrating with fury, his hand gripping the hilt of his sword tightly.
Lucifer let out a melodic and cruel laugh.
—Oh, he's in a safe place. And Ruwi, your girlfriend Camila sends her regards—he whispered, enjoying the torment in his victim's eyes.
Ruwi's face hardened.
—At least she rests in peace, unlike you. Tell me, how does it feel to lose to God for all eternity?—he responded with mockery.
Lucifer's eyes gleamed with a flash of interest.
—Nice try, human—he laughed, as if all of this were a game to him.
With a simple snap of his fingers, two enormous portals opened in the room, their edges glowing with a blinding light. A vortex of pure energy began sucking everything in its path.
—Run!—Valeria screamed, feeling the relentless force pulling them.
They tried to resist, but it was in vain. The energy split them: Ruwi and Valeria were absorbed by the right portal, while Daniel and Rosenda disappeared into the left.
Lucifer vanished with a smile.
—This will be fun—With a laugh, he disappeared completely.
On the spiritual side of Earth
Ruwi and Valeria woke up on the ground. The pressure on their skulls was unbearable, as if their very existence had been torn apart upon crossing the threshold. As they stood up, they noticed they were in Pablo's house, but something was different. The shadows seemed to have a will of their own, the walls whispered incomprehensible secrets, and the air vibrated with an unknown energy.
Valeria felt her heart stop when she looked around and saw their own unconscious bodies.
—We're dead—she whispered, panic seizing her.
Ruwi shook his head.
—No, I don't think we're dead... we're souls—Ruwi said to reassure Valeria.
Before they could process it, a sound filled the air: the buzzing of thousands of wings in motion. Flies, countless, emerged from every corner, forming a dark, repulsive whirlwind. In the middle of the swarm, a figure appeared: Beelzebub.
His skin was translucent, covered with veins that throbbed with an unhealthy pulse. He had insect-like eyes, decayed wings, and a stinger as large as a harpoon.
—Well, well, don't you think it's cute, my flies?—his voice dripped with disdain as he extended a skeletal hand.
The flies swelled, mutating into monstrous creatures with blades instead of legs and jaws capable of crushing steel. Valeria drew her sword with a holy glow, cutting through the creatures in a lethal dance. Ruwi moved with agility, slashing through the monsters with precise strikes.
Beelzebub let out a laugh, and his body twisted, adopting the form of a colossal spider with a scorpion tail.
—Pathetic humans...—he said confidently.
The creature launched a shower of viscous webs. Valeria rolled on the ground and severed one of its legs with a precise strike. The demon roared in pain, his voice reverberating through the void.
Ruwi threw Valeria at Beelzebub's face. She used the momentum to drive her sword into his eye, unleashing an agonized scream. But as the demon's body began to fade, they realized it had been an illusion.
Before they could react, the house collapsed, and they were swallowed by a torrent of dark water. They emerged in an unknown sea, surrounded by the vastness of the depths.
And then a great serpent appeared. It was massive, its skin like steel, its claws capable of destroying metal, and its sharp teeth ready to tear flesh apart.
—I'm hungry!—roared Leviathan with force.
The monster stared at them with gleaming eyes, its insatiable hunger overshadowing any hope of escape.
