Chapter 14 - Chat, we are cooked (2)

Kaiser descended like a feathered apocalypse.

Not a sound. Not a warning.

Just a streak of death through the treetops.

The remaining ten wolves—including the massive alpha—sensed something fundamentally different. This wasn't prey. This was a predator they couldn't categorize. Couldn't understand. Couldn't stop.

The larger alpha, scarred and monstrous, stepped forward. Muscles coiled like steel cables beneath its fur, yellow eyes tracking the skies with the wariness of something that had survived many battles. It issued a low growl—commanding its pack to fan out, forming a wide semicircle of fangs and fur. Strategic. Tactical.

But it didn't matter.

Kaiser didn't hesitate.

His first strike was silent and surgical. No telekinesis. No supernatural force. Just pure, brutal avian lethality. He folded his wings, becoming a streak of destruction. The smallest wolf—a young male, too slow to register the descending death—was hit like a missile. Kaiser's talons punched into the wolf's skull with enough force to rupture bone. The neck snapped audibly, the body crumpling mid-yelp.

One moment alive.

Next moment: meat.

@Sciencenerd: HOLY CRAP! WHAT IS THAT EAGLE DOING?!@WolfPackFanatic: IT'S FIGHTING LIKE A SPECIAL FORCES OPERATIVE!@DeathWish: THAT'S NOT AN EAGLE. THAT'S A WEAPON!

The wolves surged forward in a precise formation. Left flank, right flank, central pincer. Four wolves broke formation to flank from the rear, two charged dead-on, and two more circled the treeline.

They had hunted together for years.

But this wasn't a hunt.

This was a massacre in motion.

Second wolf:It lunged—jaws open for Kaiser's underbelly. Midair, Kaiser twisted impossibly, catching the wolf's torso with both talons. The impact caved in ribs like wet twigs. He spun, flinging the wolf into a jagged rock outcrop. The sound it made didn't resemble an animal. It resembled something breaking.

Third wolf:It rushed from behind. Kaiser's wing lashed out—a blur of hardened feathers like serrated steel. It struck the wolf's muzzle, snapping bone and sending it spiraling. It hit the dirt, teeth scattered like coins, limbs twitching but unable to rise.

Fourth and Fifth wolves:They came together—one low, one high. Kaiser backflipped. Not dodging—baiting. As the lower wolf leapt, Kaiser kicked downward. The full weight of his talons landed on the wolf's spine, and there was a sickening crunch. The body collapsed instantly. The second wolf passed through empty air—momentarily exposed. Kaiser spun mid-air, and with a brutal twist of his beak, tore into the back of its neck. Arterial spray fountained. It ran three more steps before collapsing.

@ConspiracyHunter: HE'S FIGHTING WITH GRAVITY AS A WEAPON!@DaddyJinWu: THAT WAS A BACKFLIP KILL. REWIND THAT.

Sixth wolf:It crept in from the side, slow and careful. Kaiser let it get close. Too close. When the wolf leapt, Kaiser vanished—wings snapping downward, launching him into a roll. He came up behind the wolf, grabbed its hind legs, and pulled. The sound of hips dislocating filled the clearing. The wolf howled—until a wing sliced down, cleaving its skull.

Seventh and Eighth:They tried to box him in. Kaiser took to the air for a split second—just enough to shift position. He dived like a thunderbolt between them. Talons extended. One caught the shoulder of the seventh wolf, dragging it mid-run and slamming it into a tree. Spine first. The tree cracked from the impact.

The eighth tried to retreat—but Kaiser was on it. Wings tucked, he landed directly on its back, forcing it to the ground. His beak stabbed once, twice—precision incisions into the neck and skull. It spasmed, then stilled.

@ZombieApcalypse: THIS ISN'T A FIGHT. IT'S AN EXECUTION.@WildlifeGoneWrong: THE EAGLE IS A STRATEGIC GENIUS.

Ninth wolf:The last before the alpha. It charged, erratic, panicked. Blood-matted and desperate. A swipe of Kaiser's talons across its face blinded it. Then he used his wing—hammered it like a mace. The wolf dropped, twitching. Kaiser finished it with a single bite to the jugular. A clean end.

All that remained—

The Alpha.

It stepped forward from the shadows. Bigger than the rest. Older. Smarter. Covered in battle scars and carrying the weight of dozens of victories.

And yet, it paused.

This wasn't bravado. This was judgment. It studied Kaiser with an almost human level of scrutiny.

Then it charged.

@ConspiracyHunter: THAT ALPHA IS GOING FULL BERSERKER MODE!@Tatical_Jake: ONE ON ONE. WOLF VS EAGLE!@SurvivalBro: THIS IS INSANE!

Kaiser braced. The alpha's speed was terrifying. No hesitation. It closed the distance in a heartbeat, jaws snapping, eyes full of fury.

Kaiser pivoted. The first lunge was redirected by a snap of his wing—guiding the wolf past him. Talons followed, slashing open a long, bloody gash across the alpha's flank. First blood.

The alpha howled—not in pain, but in rage.

They circled each other. Predator versus predator. Kaiser's talons dripped red. The alpha's breath came in heavy bursts. Every step from both was measured. Calculated.

The wolf lunged again—this time feinting left before turning hard right. It clipped Kaiser with its claws. A sharp gash opened across his side. Blood welled.

His first wound.

But Kaiser didn't falter.

He countered immediately—slicing across the alpha's snout. Then another cut across its leg. The alpha staggered but roared and charged again. This time—Kaiser went low.

Talons swept beneath. The alpha tripped.

Kaiser climbed in a flash of wings and rage.

Then—dropped.

Beak-first.Throat.Crushed.

The alpha convulsed. Once. Twice.

Its last breath came out as a gurgling whisper.

Kaiser stood over the corpse, chest heaving, side bleeding but eyes cold.

Surrounded by wolf corpses.

@BirdNerd23: OH. MY. GOD.@BiologyNerd: WHAT. JUST. HAPPENED.@NightmareFuel: THAT EAGLE JUST MASSACRED AN ENTIRE WOLF PACK!

Jake's stream captured everything.

Viewer count: 3,000,000 and climbing.

The forest, once alive with howls and breath and battle, now sat in silence.

Blood soaked the earth.

And Kaiser—

Kaiser simply stood.

A monument of feathered vengeance.

***

Humans were fascinating creatures. Predictable. Yet, it was somehow surprising.

Kaiser's keen eyes analyzed their tactical formation, tracking the anesthetic shots they'd prepared. Clearly meant for him. A capture mission disguised as a research expedition.

Interesting. They want me. But they're not a threat.

The mana surrounding the plants they'd collected was extraordinary. Swirling tendrils of pure magical energy - something he'd struggled to find, yet these humans had collected multiple specimens with apparent ease.

How are they finding these? What secret am I missing?

His internal calculation was ruthlessly logical. Even though they were on a mission to capture him, they coundn't, and they didn't, so there was no animosity between them yet. The Humans were also useful.

Fame points were necessary for the quest, and in the future, maybe they could work together or he could use them. These humans could be useful. And those magical plants... they intrigued him more than the potential threat they represented.

He already knew the world was changing slowly, the mana concentration was going up slowly day by day. Creatures were becoming more aggressive and slightly stronger.

For that he needed power to ensure his safety.

***

After the battle, Kaiser started approaching them, they had no more weapons after all.

The special forces members went rigid when Kaiser approached. Weapons raised. Futile. Pathetic.

Kaiser started to intently look at the plants, to give them a clue that his rescue was not free.

Jake, the streamer, stepped forward. The only human who seemed to understand.

"He wants the plants," Jake announced.

Dr. Rodriguez's grip tightened on her research samples. "Absolutely not. These are unprecedented botanical discoveries."

Dr. Volkov adjusted his glasses. "The scientific value is immeasurable."

Kaiser stared. Unblinking, were these guys stupid or something?

He looked at them more intensely, locking eyes with them.

The researchers started to shake in fear and averted their gazes from him. as they started to grasp the situation, they had no leeway on him.

The researchers exchanged glances. One by one, their resolve crumbled under the eagle's intense gaze.

"Fine," Dr. Rodriguez muttered. "But we're keeping detailed documentation."

ConspiracyHunter:- NEGOTIATING WITH AN EAGLE? WHAT UNIVERSE IS THIS?!

WolfPackFanatic:- THOSE SCIENTISTS LOOK TERRIFIED!

SurvivalBro:- JUST GIVE HIM THE PLANTS, PEOPLE!

Kaiser collected the plants with surgical precision. Talons moving like specialized scientific instruments.

The journey became surreal. Animals that would normally attack scattered.

Capybaras, which were aggressive when they came in became docile under the eagles shadow.

Dr. Chen and the other researchers knew something was wrong. Capybaras were normally friendly creatures, but why were they aggressive when they came in the first time? They still looked aggressive but were not acting up.

"Something's wrong with the ecosystem," Dr. Chen muttered.

The other research members also nodded. Even the veteran explorer was also confused by the situation.

While slowly accompanying them, Kaiser noticed that they were in what seemed to be the Amazon rainforest. He had come here once, in his previous life, after all.

He also knew he couldn't stay in the forest for long; the humans would come after him again, more prepared than the last time, and he would have to say goodbye to his family.

***

Kaiser's parents watched. Proud. Concerned.

Eagle affection wasn't like human displays. A precise beak-touch. A feather brush. Communication through microscopic movements.

His father's message was clear: Be careful. Survive.

His mother's gaze held complex emotions: she knew he was powerful but still felt that he might suffer danger. Thus, her beak touched him one last time, and she screeched, telling him to leave.

The Amazon stretched before him. A green, breathing entity of potential and danger.

I am no longer just an eagle, he thought. I am becoming something else.

With a final glance at his parents, Kaiser took flight. Wolf meat awaited. Another meal. Another opportunity to grow stronger.
