Chapter 1 - Chapter 0

Noble's with perfect posture filled the room. Light sparkled off of jewels, crystal chandeliers, and wine glasses. Expensive dresses and dress suits filled the grand room. A large spread of food lay untouched on one side. Amongst it all, one sight was drawing the most attention.

Exquisite high heels wrapped around small feet. Long smooth legs underneath a dress from the kingdom's leading dress maker. An hourglass figure with a full bosom. Plump ruby red lips parted slightly for a bored sigh. Sharp green eyes quietly observed the room on a breath taking face. Long black hair fell in loose waves down her waist. A glass carefully swirled within a sensuous grasp made the wine inside dance.

Her figure captivated those around her, whether they wanted it to or not.

Lady Lucia Vergross was the type of person who drew attention wherever she went. Envious gazes, lusty looks, admiring glances, all were common. She was the type who's name was often on everyone's lips.

If one were to believe all the gossip swirling around about her, Lady Lucia Vergross was a vain and selfish woman known for seducing young lords and bullying staff at popular boutiques. She was an unpleasant person who thought herself above everyone else. Everyone knew, the only reason she was so favored by many single lords was because of her face and body.

Everyone noticed her, everyone stared, everyone whispered, but no one approached.

Lady Lucia Vergross stood alone at the party as always.

For years Lucia had been attending the mandatory number of these gatherings alone. The same mildly irritating events always took place when she arrived. Lecherous lords would ask for a dance, try to get her a few drinks, and insist on regaling her with their most "fascinating" tales. Bored and bitter Ladies would whisper about their most recent imaginings. Then at some point before she left the disgusting offers would start rolling in. Truly a test to her patience.

If she had it her way, she would never have to go to these things, however, until her baby sister turned 18 and reached adulthood, she would have to keep showing her face for a bit longer. One more year, then that little social butterfly could handle these things for their family. It's not like Lucia herself was any good at this sort of thing.

Lucia lazily scanned the room on the lookout for anyone who may come bother her when she saw something very strange, a young noble was giving her a crooked friendly smile. Not a leer, not a suave look, not a sneer, just a friendly smile! The man didn't even look drunk and was clearly making eye contact with her!

Hazel eyes locked with hers as the man smiled a greeting to her with a gentle incline of his blonde head. He stood at the center of a large group conversing happily among themselves. The young noble seemed to be taking advantage of someone telling a story to smile at her.

Cutting eye contact, Lucia turned and walked away. This was much too strange, it was clearly time to for her to head home.

Unseen, a friendly smile turned into a disappointed frown before the man turned back to the rest of his group.
