Chapter 59 - Chapter 59: The Hunting Level of the "Walking Corpses"

"You guys are probably newly graduated scavengers, right?" The young man in black armor quickly scanned the room. He immediately saw some charred walking corpse heads on the ground. When he saw the cracked state of the heads, his eyes moved. He looked at Dudian and the other three with great interest and said, "Is this your first scavenging trip, or have you been here a few times? You can actually kill these walking corpses whose hunting level has reached '4' and know how to collect the 'Cold Crystals' in their brains. Hehe, this is quite interesting."

Dudian felt his scalp tighten under the young man's gaze, as if he had become the prey and could lose his life at any moment. He was secretly on guard and explained in a low voice, "We are scavengers newly recruited by the consortium. You must be a hunter, sir. We got separated from the main group and were chased by these walking corpses. We came up with this method by chance, and we didn't expect it to work against these monsters."

The young man in black armor glanced at him. It was easy to tell that this boy was the core of the four. He smiled slightly and said, "Don't be nervous. I'm glad that the consortium can recruit such smart little guys like you. I'm injured and need to bandage my wound. You light a fire for me and make some space."

Dudian looked at his right arm, nodded, and said to Zach, "You light the fire, and I'll find some clean cloth to bandage the hunter sir."

Mekin, Zach, and Sham were extremely excited to see a hunter so closely for the first time. When they heard this, they couldn't wait and immediately got busy, as if it were an honor to serve the hunter.

The young man in black armor saw that he was about to enter the adjacent room and said, "No need. These things are full of radiation and germs. How can they be used for bandaging? I have first aid supplies in my bag. Little guy, you're quite clever. Go and keep watch for me. Let me know immediately if there's any movement." After that, he entered the living room of the room and sat down with a thud. He didn't care about the terrifying charred walking corpse heads beside him. He swept his leg and pushed these heads aside to make some space. He dropped the black backpack on his back and said to Mekin beside him, "Open the bag and find the gauze inside."

Mekin nodded repeatedly and was just about to grab the backpack. The young man in black armor frowned when he saw the dirt on Mekin's gloves outside. He said, "Idiot, take off your gloves. Do you want to dirty my backpack?"

Mekin was startled. His face immediately turned red. He quickly took off his gloves, opened the backpack, took out the gauze from it, and asked, "H, hunter sir, do you have any antiseptic solution? We need to disinfect the wound first before bandaging."

"Do I need you to teach me that?" The young man in black armor snorted and said, "There's a small knife and a bottle inside. See? The bottle contains alcohol. You scavengers should have learned first aid knowledge, right?"

Mekin nodded quickly. He immediately poured the alcohol from the bottle onto the small knife and burned it until it was scalding hot on the torch lit by Zach. Then he said, "Hunter sir, please loosen the wound first. Let me disinfect it with alcohol and then remove the rotten flesh."

"I'll do it myself." The young man in black armor grabbed the bottle, flicked his finger, and the bottle cap flew out. He loosened his arm and poured the alcohol on the wound. Suddenly, his face twitched in pain, but he still gritted his teeth and endured it.

Dudian, Mekin, and the others could clearly see his wound. It was a sharp claw mark that was deep enough to expose the bone. The skin around the wound had festered. The young man in black armor had been holding it tightly before, not to endure the pain, but to prevent the blood from the wound from spreading.

The young man in black armor grabbed the red-hot small knife and gritted his teeth as he cut away layer by layer. Soon, he dug out the festered flesh around the wound. The intense pain had already made him sweat profusely, as if he had been caught in the rain. But throughout the whole process, he didn't make a sound and clenched his teeth tightly.

This shocked Dudian greatly. Was this the quality of a hunter? Even a battle-hardened iron-blooded soldier might not have such a strong willpower, right?

At this time, after removing the rotten flesh, the young man in black armor asked Mekin to bandage him. Soon, his right arm was wrapped with layers of gauze. The young man in black armor wiped the sweat from his forehead, let out a sigh of relief, and leaned against the wall, panting slightly.

Dudian glanced at him and said calmly, "Hunter sir, wasn't Area 8 cleared? Why are there so many walking corpses here? Did they migrate from nearby areas?"

"Don't bother me!" The young man in black armor closed his eyes slightly and said unhappily.

Dudian was slightly taken aback and immediately fell silent.

A few minutes later, the young man in black armor said, "You still have some food, right? Give it to me."

Mekin, who was attending to him, was slightly stunned and hesitated, "Hunter sir, this is our food. If we give it to you, we..."

The young man in black armor suddenly opened his eyes, and a cold glint seemed to flash in his eyes. He said, "What, you don't want to?"

Mekin was startled and quickly said, "No, no. It's just, just..."

"This is my remaining food, and there isn't much left. Sir, here you are. Mekin doesn't know any better. Please don't take it to heart." Sham beside him quickly said when he saw this. At the same time, he handed over his backpack, shook it open, and took out the dry food inside and handed it to the young man in black armor.

Mekin and Zach's faces changed slightly. Although they admired the hunter, when it came to their own losses, it was a different matter. They couldn't help but look at Dudian, only to see Dudian nodding slightly, as if giving his approval.

The two of them felt dejected and could only secretly regret it in their hearts.

The young man in black armor patted Sham's head and said, "You're a sensible little guy." With that, he grabbed the dry food he had handed over and took big bites. After eating, he stretched out his hand, "Water."

Sham quickly handed it to him.

The young man in black armor drank it all in one gulp, casually threw the empty water bag aside, continued to sit and rest for a while, then slowly stood up and gently moved his right arm for a while. It seemed that this simple bandaging had stabilized his injury. He showed a satisfied smile, then looked down at Dudian and the other three. His eyes narrowed, and he suddenly pointed at Mekin and said, "Little guy, come with me."

Mekin was taken aback. "G, where are we going?"

"You'll know when you come." The young man in black armor smiled.

Mekin hesitated and said, "Are we going back? But I still have a mission..."

"Just follow me. Why so many questions!" The young man in black armor frowned and said impatiently.

Mekin was a bit stunned and sensed something was wrong. He couldn't help but look at Dudian.

Dudian also felt something unusual and said, "Hunter sir, we respect you very much. However, we have our own tasks. If we can't complete them, we'll be expelled by the consortium. I hope you can understand. If there's anything you need our assistance with, just give the order, and we'll be happy to help as long as it's within our capabilities."

"Hmph, you little guy can talk. I need your assistance right now. Since you seem to have a good relationship, all four of you come with me. It's better to have more people." The young man in black armor waved his hand impatiently. The last sentence seemed to be murmured to himself.

Dudian's face changed slightly and he said, "Can you tell us what we're going to do?" The words he said earlier were just polite words. They were just scavengers. What could they do to assist a hunter? Moreover, the things a hunter needed their assistance with must not be ordinary matters. After all, a hunter's task was to hunt monsters!

The young man in black armor narrowed his eyes, and a trace of hostility flashed in them. But it seemed that he thought of something, and the hostility in his eyes quickly faded. He smiled and said, "It's nothing important. I've found some precious supplies, but I can't carry too much by myself. The four of you come with me and help me transport them back to the Great Wall. Don't worry. I'll talk to the higher-ups. You'll get half of this batch of supplies."

Hearing this, Mekin, Zach, and Sham were taken aback. Mekin couldn't help but say happily, "Sir, is this true?"

"Are you not lying to us?" Zach said excitedly as well.

Only Sham was slightly puzzled. He seemed to feel that something was wrong, but he couldn't figure out the reason. He could only look back at Dudian.

When Dudian heard the words of the young man in black armor, he immediately knew that he was lying. Hunters didn't even want gold. What supplies could be more precious than gold? However, although they were from the same consortium, he felt that this young man in black armor was not someone to be trifled with. If they resisted directly, they would probably suffer losses. It was better to see what his plan was for now.
