CALEB
"Give me a break here!" I yelled that for the umpteenth time that evening.
My legs were suspended in midair while my lower half was upside down, staring at the ground beneath me.
The entire class and Mr. Reverend had the effrontery to leave me the same way I'd been since we had our flying exercise by 11 am. It's 5pm now. Dammit!
My stomach growled and I hissed. "I know, buddy. I'm hungry too but I can't get down."
"Flying Class sucks!" I heard someone call out.
It was probably a mermaid. They don't have to bother with this class coz they don't fly or even give a shit about it. But it still didn't mean I wouldn't plead for their help.
"Hey! Hey, please help me!" I called out, sounding as desperate as I could. But instead of helping me out, they laughed. They took pictures and made a goddamn meme out of me.
Still hanging up there, I heard footsteps and called out like I'd been doing for hours, hoping a Good Samaritan would stop and rescue me but it was just a Fairy from my class that yelled at me to go back where I came from.
At this point, I had given up on expecting help.
No one had came looking. Not even Dominic or Vincent or Valentine or Mr. Berkeley who seems to hate me. Don't even think about Damian. He was the one who told the teacher to leave me there till I get the hang of flying. NEWSFLASH : I can't even fly properly. I don't even know what kind of creature I am — Vampire? No, I'm not pale skinned like Damain and his crew and I certainly didn't have fangs. Fairy? Nope. I didn't have wings. Dragon? Let's not go there. I don't know what I am. Period.
My head was beginning to hurt and I was starting to feel woozy.
My eyes fluttered for a few seconds before it closed.
When I came to, I woke up to something warm.
"Took you long enough." The voice said.
I couldn't see it's face because my sight was blurry and I wasn't with my glasses. I heard the sound of spoon against glass. It was a faint clinking sound as though they were making tea.
"Here." The voice said.
I felt a warm hand touch the back the head gently and lift me gently to sit up. My vision was still blurry but I wanted to see who it was. Their touch was so gentle unlike anything I'd ever felt.
Steam scorched my nose and I wrinkled my nose. "Ugh! What's that smell?"
"It's boiled herbs. It'll help with the dizziness." He said softly.
I opened my mouth and the same liquid rushed down my throat. It tasted bitter at first but when I swallowed, it had a honey -like taste. Odd but okay.
"Good job, love. Now, go to sleep." The same hand stroke my cheek and I placed my hand over his.
"Stay with me." I don't know why I said that but I had to. I didn't want to be alone.
"Okay." He said softly.
I closed my eyes and felt the ruffle of material. Suddenly, warm hands wrapped around me and I gasped. I meant stay with me not cuddle me!
"You don't want cuddles?" He asked, breathing on my neck.
I'm pretty sure this is a dream but who gives a fuck?
"No, I want them." I muttered shyly.
"Good. Now, go to sleep. We have a big day ahead of us tomorrow." he said.
I don't remember anyone saving me earlier. Who was he?
I had barely gotten a word out before the darkness stole me away.
I woke up the second time and I was on the floor.
"Ah, there you are." A familar deep voice said and I jolted.
"Shit" I cursed and ran my hand through my hair. My body so heavy it felt like I'd been hit by a freight train.
"Who knew humans could sleep for hours?" The figure crouched in front of me and lifted my chin. "Were you that tired?"
"Who…"
Suddenly, everything became clearer and I shriveled from the contact.
DAMIAN!
"What are you doing here!" I yelled.
He scoffed. "This is my room. And what are you doing on the floor?"
"I…" I looked around me. "How did I end up here?"
"Are you asking me that?" He furrowed his brows.
"Umm… didn't you sleep here last night?" I asked.
"No. I was at Valentine's till this morning. Why? Did you bring someone over?" He asked, looking around the room. "Where is he? Who is he!"
"I didn't bring anyone here!" I scrambled to my feet and ran to stop him when he suddenly stopped and I collided into him.
I gasped when we both tumbled to the floor.
"I — I'm so sorry, Damian. I didn't mean to —" I apologized, trying to get off him but I couldn't.
His hand snaked around my waist and he rolled over so he would lie over me with me beneath him.
Wait. What is he doing?
My brain screamed at me.
"Why are you stopping me from going to the bathroom? Is someone in there?" he asked, staring into my eyes.
"I…" I had words in my mouth but couldn't speak. "T - There's no one there."
"Are you sure?" He leaned closer, raising a brow this time.
"Yes." I whispered.
Why the heck was I whispering?
He slowly removed his hand from my waist and I panicked. Then I froze. Why was I frantic for his touch? Why did his touch even feel so familiar? And why does his voice…
He got off me, straightening his jacket and turned to the door but I stopped him. Again.
"Wait!"
"Yes?" He mused, turning to look at me.
"Are you sure you didn't sleep here last night?"
"No."
That's odd. "Okay."
"Now, get your head out of your butt and get ready." He said.
"Get ready?" I rose to my feet. "Get ready for what? Today's Saturday or do you guys go to school on Saturdays over here?"
"Who said anything about school?" Damian stepped forward and smiled. "We're going to the human world."
