Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: Ghost in the room

Seo-Yeon turned to face the wall as the people in the room left. Her body was shivering as she clutched the duvet to her chest. Her eyes were closed shut tightly.

When everyone left, she expected that person to go with them as well. But a single shadowy figure stayed behind in the room.

When she woke up the first time, she noticed a transparent, tall, pale, and definitely floaty ghost woman in white standing beside the butler who had entered the room.

She shrieked and looked around to see a vitamin bottle on the side table.

Perfect! A holy vitamin! It should burn her soul!

And threw a medicine bottle at the ghost, accusing it of being the kidnapper. The bottle passes through the ghost and bounces off the wall.

She was so scared that she subconsciously pulled the children to protect herself from the ghost. Hugging them tightly to her chest.

She doesn't remember much after that. Maybe it was because she was so scared that she lost consciousness.

When she woke up again, she thought she must have been hallucinating before. She was sure there was no such thing as a ghost.

When she woke up, she scanned the room for its presence first.

Yep. It was still present.

There was a ghost in the room.

The ghost was floating slightly above the floor, leaning over the twins with a calm expression.

That ghost lady has been standing behind the twins the whole time, hovering over them, trying to touch them, and patting their heads.

Seo-Yeon tried so hard to ignore the whole interaction, only focusing on the doctor and Kang Jun-Hyun.

When she noticed how the ghost was always floating around the kids, she thought it was present because it was attached to kids.

But the ghost didn't leave when they left, that scared her sh*tless.

She faced the wall, ignoring the ghost floating in the room.

Nope.

She was not doing this again.

This is the side where ghosts don't exist. The wall will protect her from everything.

"Last time you threw the pillow, this time it was vitamins. What are you planning to throw the next time?" the voice entered her ears.

She could imagine how the ghost was smiling in amusement.

"What, you are the one who I saw that night?" she springs up from the bed to face the ghost.

She totally forgot the first time she saw the ghost.

It was after her discharge from the hospital, when she woke up from her coma.

It was late in the evening. Soe-Yeon is alone in the living room of Tae-Won's large but slightly too-quiet house.

Both her son and her husband were asleep.

She was reading about the latest updates, and trending news, in the entertainment industry. She was planning her future after her divorce.

She wanted to secure the path before dishing her husband and leading her life. She was watching the news channel and updating her knowledge about the present situation.

Seo-Yeon was in a coma for a whole three months, and a lot can happen in just three months.

Well, her whole life changed in three months, so...

The living room lights were dim. There was a sudden chill in the air.

A shiver ran down her neck, "It must be AC. Who set it so low?" she whispered to herself rubbing her hand for heat.

She looked around for the remote to control the temperature, but she couldn't find it anywhere near her.

She tried to ignore the cold and concentrated on the TV, but when she couldn't sit through the cold, she decided to ditch it and go to sleep.

She turned off the TV, and instead of putting out the lights she walked towards her room.

She feared darkness. So, she was afraid to turn off the lights. She picked up the throw pillows on the couch and hugged it to her chest as she started moving toward her room.

And to her luck, the lights were dim so no one would blame her for keeping it on the whole night.

As she walked her eyes fell on the far end of the hallway. A woman in a flowing white dress was standing there, her hair falling over her face like every horror movie Seo-Yeon had ever dared to watch.

Okay. Stay calm.

Take a deep breath.

It's definitely not a ghost.

Soe-Yeona you're an adult.

Adults don't believe in—oh no no no no no…

Seo-Yeon squinted her eyes trying to adjust her eyes to the darkness when the lights started to flicker.

She was chanting as she traded forward towards her room slowly. "That's not a ghost. That's trending fashion right now. That's… That's a long curtain."

"..."

In human shape.

Yes.

A very... very... stylish... curtain, very new in the market.

The white shadow moved towards her one slow, floaty step forward.

Seo-Yeon took one step back clutching the throw pillow like it's a holy artifact.

What the f*ck…

Did she enter any horror show? Why was she seeing a creepy woman in her house?

"Ma'am, if you are a ghost—respectfully—this is not your haunting house nor is it a haunting hour."

The ghost stared at her silently, taking another floaty step toward her.

"I am off-duty. Please go back and file a formal haunting request with the universe. I reject your advances in my house. Go away, Shu" She threw a throw pillow in her hand toward the ghost.

The holy pillow artifact should knock the ghost away!!!

But the pillow passes right through it. The ghost tilts her head.

It was so creepy; a shiver ran down Seo-Yeon's head.

If she acts like a blind person, will the ghost go away?

Yes. That sounds like a good idea.

"I did not see that. I am blind..."

"-I have never had eyes. Born without them. Legally—I'm a robot. I can't see anything. I can only do work assigned to me"

To prove she was blind she spins around and walks directly into a wall.

"...You saw me before. In your dream." the ghost's voice drifts through the night softly.

Seo-Yeon ignored the ghost completely.

I SEE NOTHING!

I am so good at not seeing ghosts.

I could win awards! Oscars for "Best Ignoring of a Dead Woman Standing in the Hallway"!

Seo-yeon patted herself on the back in her head as she walked towards the wall without stopping.

"You called me a "spooky lady with dry shampoo issues."

Soe-Yeon stopped in her tracks. She gasped in shock.

What the f*ck!!!

"That was... private. That dream was classified. How did you—"

She pointed an accusatory finger at the ghost "YOU- YOU'RE A GHOST WITH WIFI?!"

The Ghost raised one eyebrow at Seo-Yeon. Soe-Yeon gasped again and pulled her hand back, diving behind the table in the hallway.

When there was no sound, she slowly peeked out from her hiding spot. The ghost was still standing in the same spot.

She did meet the ghost in her dreams. She even had a friendly conversation with the ghost lady. But she was not ready to see a ghost materializing in front of her.

"Okay. Fine. I admit it. You're a ghost. A tall, terrifying lady ghost I meet in my dreams. But I am not emotionally available for ghost drama right now. Can you please go back?" still hiding in her spot.

The ghost stood in the hallway awkwardly.

"What do you want?" Seo-Yeon asked when the ghost didn't react.

"I'm here because of my children."
