It seemed that the plan was going to work, and if they didn't remove Zack of their own volition, they could cause more chaos. Jeff, however, fate had other plans because the headmaster interfered and demanded to speak to Zack alone. The headmaster started to speak and sneers at Zack. "Your brother is very brave. I overheard an interesting conversation you two had. I think your brother is very smart. I knew he would do something since he was attached to you; that is why I spied on you two. If you know what is good for you. You will go to the building or else your brother, family, and relatives will be killed", as a threat. Zack knew that the situation was serious, and his brother was truthful about the monster. Zack didn't want Jeff and his parents to die. Although deep down, Zack couldn't forgive their parents, he couldn't let his family die for his sake. Zack believed that Jeff was the most reliable brother and knew that they would both die soon. If Zack wanted to save his brother, he was forced to comply with the headmaster. Zack felt that at least his life would mean something if it was to save Jeff and all his family. He believed that Jeff couldn't die and wanted him to be the one to end the beast, so he didn't want Jeff to meet his end because of him. This heavy thought is why Zack acted like he did.
Zack raised his voice and says to the crowd, "I think I feel better. I guess I can continue the trip after all". Zack thought," Don't worry, brother, it is fine. guess you must live without me and take revenge for my death." After all, Zack couldn't escape feeling pity towards his friends. He believed that dying with his friends was better than his brother dying. All that Jeff planned was a wasted effort since he never expected Zack to abandon their plan completely and the interference of the headmaster. Jeff thought that Zack was foolish, and Zack didn't trust him at all. In the end, Zack was planning to abandon him. Jeff didn't want to accept that. Jeff knew at this moment that he had failed his brother.
Zack was heading to the building with the other students, and the doors were about to be closed, but before they closed, someone rushed inside. The students were walking along the dark path, and Zack noticed his brother. He shed tears and said," Why? Why? Why?" in a loud voice. All the students and Zack's classmates were eaten one by one by the beast. The beast looked like a very large wolf with black fur, red horns, and menacing black eyes. All the students were dead. In their last moments, they felt nothing but horror and intimidation. Jeff and Zack remained unharmed until the beast ate the other students who were in front, since the beast was saving them for last.
The older brother says to his younger brother with his keen and pure eyes, "If I die, I prefer to die with you." The monster looked at the brother and says, "What a sad goodbye". Jeff was eaten alive. Zack was unable to respond to his brother's last words. Zack was angry, and the monster was intimidated by his eyes. As he was about to eat him suddenly, he was teleported from the building to an anonymous place. Who saved him? Was it Jeff's determination to save Zack the cause? Who knows? The answer was complex.
Now the question on everyone's mind is where the boy named Zack went, especially the beast was confused. The beast laughed wickedly to himself," I have tasted one of the brother's bloods so the other human might want vengeance. After all, I ate his kin. Zack is his name, and the one I ate is Jeff. His memories were so tasty! Such brotherly love. I will be waiting for Zack, my prey, but until then, I will be enjoying my meals. I will ask for more until your demise. If humans decided to keep you from me, then I would eat them all. I will give them three years to give you up. I am curious as to what humans will do until their demise. Ha! Ha! Ha!".
Zack opened his eyes to see a winged man holding him in his arms. It appeared that the winged man had saved Zack's life. Zack was very confused, so he spoke to himself with a confused face, "Did I die? Will I end up with Jeff? In the end, Jeff is such a fool that he could live. Why do this? Why die?"
The winged man replied to the confused boy's mumbles with an assuring voice," No, you are not dead. Jeff's sacrifice isn't in vain, so you can't meet him yet." Zack realized that this person had a very beautiful voice and thought that he might be a katydid since they are insects that use their wings to produce a very beautiful sound, but he didn't know that they were the size of a person
Zack says, unafraid, clearly, "So you saved me, Mr. Insect, you are so brave. I was kind to all living beings; is that why I was spared?".
The winged man's blood boiled. Then he dropped the human on the floor and shouted in anger," I am not an insect! How dare you compare me to those weak things? Do you have a death wish? If so, I will be happy to send you back, you know. The winged man knew that all humans who arrived at this place after seeing him passed out, so he was surprised and angry because of Zack's response. In the winged man's eyes, Zack was fearless, but he mocked him and for that, he was very pissed.
Zack replied with an apologetic voice but was startled," I am sorry for offending you. I was kind to insects the most, so I assumed you saved me for that reason, but whomever you are, I am grateful, but I still wish Jeff was here. He could have known what you are. And insects are not weak, they are wonderful beings if you get to know them better. They are very resilient, unlike humans," Zack thought, to leave the matter of the winged man's voice alone since if he wasn't an insect, he couldn't be a Katydid. The winged man replies understandingly, "You are still a child. I am sorry I lost my temper," The winged man thought." Guess he didn't mean to disrespect me". Zack thought the winged man's apology seemed to be coming out of nowhere since he was the one at fault. Zack decided to get answers from this person to figure out where he was.
Zack questioned," Could you perhaps explain why you saved me and not Jeff? His mind and problem-solving skills are better than mine, so why save me? I mean, other than insects, I am not sure who would save me."
The boy's naïve nature made the winged man feel pity towards the boy since his challenges were just getting started. The winged man replied," You are to meet with our king to tell you why and the mission you are given. I will help you get ready for the occasion". The winged man just dodged the question entirely. Zack, being as naïve as he was, wasn't angry; instead, he trusted the winged man.
Zack replied softly," I understand. I will wait. Thanks." Zack's emotions were very unstable, but for some reason, he was very calm and answered every question. Unbeknownst to him, the winged man could stabilize a human's condition, which usually made the one being affected fearless and calm.
The winged man canceled his ability after escorting the boy to see his reaction because of his self-centered curiosity.
Zack started to cry and sobbed," If only you would have lived now. What would I do without you? How would I help defeat the one who took you from me? This vile beast caused fear and destruction. I swear to take revenge for you, but until then, I will help the other students who were left in this cursed college. I will become a beacon of hope to them, and cowering will no longer be a thing! I will defeat the beast". Zack was always an idealist, so he believed that he wanted to save the people of the college from the adults because he believed that Jeff wouldn't rest in peace until the beast was killed.
