Mom and dad yelled. Yet again. The whole family were angered. Yet again. The whole family was mood off. But it hit her the most. She was hurt. She was sad. She was heartbroken. Because yet again, same thing that had occurred for 15yrs had occurred again that day, making it the 16th year. She's never had a happy birthday.
She went to school feeling the worse of herself as she received greetings from her class mates and gifts from those that had some for her.
Closing time drew nearer than usual and all her class mates, including her continued their punishment that had comenced since the other Friday.
She and the guy she was paired with served their "cleaning" punishment. The guy tried to be playful around her. And she was at least grateful, even though he had the littlest idea that it was her day that day. She smiled at any of his jokes knowing it were her last. But it hit her like a sudden bullet when she remembered her best friend who promised that if at all anything, he won't forget her birthday had not even said or texted or phoned her. She and the guy were done cleaning and they were about going downstairs to probably meet the other laughing souls when she called him. On hearing her pronounce his name he paused. "What's up". He brightly replied. "Here. This is for you". She forced a joyous voice as she smiled and gave him. For me! Ait. He looked glad and expecting something. He went downstairs but she didn't. For less than a minute she admired the view of the school compound from the third floor where she was and to complete a minute she jumped from the railing. She was falling down freely. She didn't even struggle but a few tear rolled down her pretty cheek. She knew this was the only way. The only solution to preventing the same occurrence for the 17th year. She wasn't afraid of death anymore. She has prepared for it's arrival for over five years and it's finally here. She reached the ground and blood flowed. She lay still as people rushed over. The tears were still present on her cheek. The guy she had given a paper ran over with Massive shock. He didn't expect this. Not after what she gave him. She had written to him saying "Happy birthday to me ☺️ and also I do like you". He was happy and wanted to tell her he likes her also. But she lies bleeding on the ground. As well built as his body was he stepped forward and lifted her. He didn't mind getting stained with her blood. "Call an ambulance somebody" he yelled. There was no time to wait for an ambulance. He aimed at running outside the gate when he came across a guy almost tall as he is, carrying a gift box and a frame that has the bleeding girl's face on it. Must be her best friend who hadn't texted her or called her. Took a minute or two to recognize the bleeding girl who was carried pass him. He yelled her name in disbelief.
The guy carrying her had taken a vehicle and rushed her for the closet hospital. Behind his vehicle was followed by the others.
She was rushed and attended to. Her situation is critical, the doctor reported to all that were present.
She lost alot of blood and needs a donor right away.
There were two volunteers. That, her best friend and the guy she likes. Their blood were tested and only one matched. That of the guy she likes. While the doctor was operating on her, her family arrived and they were part of the curious benchers. Some whispered prayers to their God while others sang to their God.
I'm time the doctor was put. The news was released to all of them. Despise the hard tries of the doctors, she wasn't a survivor. She had lost so many blood before the transfusion was carried out.
It was the hardest thing to believe. She's a girl her family all saw that morning. A girl her friends had greeted and gifted for her birthday. A girl that had made a guy so happy by confessing her feelings in a paper. A girl her best friend went surprise shopping for. Just like that she was gone.
But there would be no more sad birthdays for her.
